Tutorial Organics for Beginners

I have a couple questions:

1. Is there anything else that can be used instead of the lime? I can't find any.

2. Is the molasses used because of the (Manganese, copper, iron, calcium, potassium, Magnesium, vitamin b6, and selenium?) nutrients? If so, if this molasses can't be found, then couldn't something else that gives these nutrients be used?

I noticed that at Sutherlands, while they did not have the lime..they had a whole host of stuff I can't even remember all..but i do remember seeing bloodmeal, bonemeal, fish fertilizer and a bunch of other things...they seemed to have alot of organic type stuff so I am going to look and see if they have anything that can substitute for the various recipes.

1- No. Some guys are finding it in the masonry section of Home DePOT.
2- Molasses is a carbohydrate to feed the microherd.
Do they have kelp meal or Maxicrop or Neptune's Harvest products? If so, you can use recipe #1.

I'd bet by plants that's a nitrogen deficiency. The burned crispy leaves look like a potassium deficiency. I wonder how old the dried blood is you bought. When you switch your lights to 12/12 the plants start to stretch and need a lot of nitrogen. After about two weeks, they start to need a lot less.
A couple of questions...
1- What brand of dried blood did you use? Can you show a pic?
2- Did you use POWDERED dolomite lime?
3- What brand of seaweed/kelp did you use? Can you show a pic?

I just want to back up to the beginning and go over everything. When troubleshooting a problem, you must start at the beginning and work your way forward. If you start in the middle you'll miss something. BTDT.
Give us the info my man.

Glad to give up the info here, let's see.

1) I am -pretty- sure it was Hi-Yield in the yellow/red bag. I've put all my dry ferts into containers, so I'm not 150% sure, but 99%. I'll take a picture later today if you want, but I'm guessing you wanted a picture of the bag, which I can't provide. Basically it looks like black/dark red sand. I have no idea how long it was sitting on the shelf before I bought it. Dry organics go bad? :(

2) Yes, at the prescribed amount. The bag is: Hi-Yield Agricultural Limestone. I hope it's the right thing, because the garden center literally had a hand-painted sign with an arrow pointing to it that said "Yes, this is DOLOMITE LIME"

3) Unfortunately, I do not know the name/brand of the kelp. The day I was at the store, they were out of 5 gallon bags, and only had 20 gallons. So he bagged up some of the kelp they use to brew their own teas with. Looks like brown sand with some white mixed in basically. Again, I can take a picture, but will it do you any good without the original packaging?

So, unfortunately, there are a couple of unknowns there, but hopefully the shop didn't steer me wrong.

Some further notes:

Soil cooked for 3-4 weeks before plants were put into it
B1E & MxB vegged a long time before going 12/12
B1E & MxB are on day 22
IQ is on day 17
IQ was the victim of aggressive root pruning about 1-2 weeks before 12/12
I bubble my water for at least 24 hrs
I have NO idea if there is chloramine in my water supply

Let me know if you still want to see pics of the actual blood meal and kelp, I could take pics in the container and on white paper, or if you need any other info.

They're due for a watering in about 24 hrs.

Thanks a bazillion B1!

P.S. What do you think of your namesake?

More pics are now up of all the plants right HERE, in case it helps.

Whatever you've been supplementing with the blood tea... Double it for ONE watering. I see no burning so let's try a big dose of nitrogen and see what happens.

Thanks for the namesake. I hope you have a mother plant.

Roger Roger. I;ll do that, then return to single dose for another watering or so, then then two weeks will be up, and we'll see where it stands.

Thanks so much for the help, you are the mo-fuggin man, my man.

Thanks for the namesake. I hope you have a mother plant.

Unfortunately, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime smoking experience. Not for lack of trying, Daddy just ain't got the cloning thing down yet.

They did have kelp meal, they also had something called Liquid Seaweed. The kelp was 1-0-2 and the seaweed was 1-0-1 pretty much the same I think since kelp=seaweed. They did not have maxicrop or neptunes harvest. (I took a piece of paper and wrote down almost everything they had so I could look them up here.)

Ok I saw a bag of dry molasses at the nursery, is this the same as what you are talking about?

Also, speaking of microherd, I saw stuff called Envirolife Biological Formula that says they are microorganisms, or bacteria found in the rain forest. Would this stuff be good to add?

BTW thanks for taking the time to help me out

how many gallons is your bucket?

Just at first glance, seems you might want to transplant into a larger container, 3 gallon, or preferbly 5. Good luck!

Me?

Two of the three plants with problems are in 3 gallon pots. The little one is in, I believe, a 1 gallon.

I kind of wanted to keep that plant small, which is why I kept it in the smaller pot. That, and I was out of cooked soil. =/

And isn't it a no-no to transplant during flowering?

I find it easier to work in tbsp or ml. You need 20 tbsp (approx 355ml) for your 10 gallon mix.
