Welcome satva,

Nice to see you around :) Love the work you do with the sativas!
Thanks for sharing pics of your green Oldtimer's Haze male.
Hope it produces interesting offspring!

hard rain

I finished a purple haze recently that I took at 18 and a half weeks. Only dry a week. Without a cure I am really enjoying this. Euphoric, thought provoking, relaxing and you can get the housework done.

I'm a bit spoilt for choice at the moment and it's what I am reaching for over other varieties. Great pot. I will grow it again.

What time cycle did you use? From seed or clone? I have 1 at 110 days of 11/13 shining to switch to 10/14 in front of a double T8 in a closet alone as I have others in there that need 12/12.

Mine was grown from seed. Vegged under I think 16/8 and flowered the entire time 11/13. The plant was still throwing out the odd white pistils but it was done at 18.5 weeks. There was the odd amber trichome on the older parts of the flowers and the majority were cloudy with maybe 15% clear. Mine were flowered under a LED which I believed help compact the growth making it more manageable.

Unfortunately mine didn't go purple, but it is summer in my part of the world and quite hot where I live.

Good luck with yours. I have checked out your thread and they look good.

Thank you Dubi,

I planted a few Old Timer's Haze to compare the growth with Cannabiogen's Punto Rojo and USC ColJam. I'm very happy with the OTH growth and flowering structure. This male is vigorous and had relatively tight internodal growth and was clearly the best OTH plant. Other OTH phenotypes were more wispy and delicate than this male. In the future, I'll select females from Old Timer's Haze. Mr. OTH pollen will go on ice, and be used to pollinate a few flowers of the the most resinous, "non-Colombian" phenotypes from ColJam and one Punto Rojo female, to evaluate the offspring, in a future grow I'll select OTH females.

Some P1 landrace strains don't produce stable sex males, so this OTH male could come in handy.

Cheers!

Hey Dubi
Like my name says I'm at 48N so I'll never finish a haze lol
Would it be possible to create an auto haze version? Or do you think the auto would pollute the oth effects too much?
I think you could grow a nice haze in Central Europe, flowering from last to first frost, using all the energy from the Central European sun
Long flowering auto Zamal or Koh Chang would also be nice, I'm thinking about the strains I could never grow here otherwise
i once grew a peachy incensey tikal which i think was the closest to haze I ever experienced (had hazes in Amsterdam but Tikal was a lot better and refined) and the effects were just.... Right!
Never had a more "round" smoke than this

Would you consider doing a light dep or tarping so that you could finish these outdoors?, say start pulling your tarp around start of june, finishing around end of September half October? That would be 14-16 weeks might be long enough with a fast finishing selection.

Starting mature clones will knock 2-3 weeks off bloom time according to Dubi.

I still have a lot of new white hairs on top the lowers are fairly red haired at this point. I will try to post pics this week.

I hit 2 different new C99 with pollen from the male and think I will pop a few to try outside this season.

Hi satva,

I always follow your experiences with the more extreme tropical sativas with lot of interest. You are right, it's hard to find nice and firm males in many P1 landrace sativas, especially in SE asian sativa and colombian populations, size of population is really important to find good P1 tropical sativa males.

Oldtimer's Haze still has a very high female/male ratio, but good males are easier to find, and they are firm. Wish you find Oldtimer's Haze line enough interesting, looking forward to see the outcome of your hybrids. Keep up the good work!

Hi 48N,

Yes, of course it can be done, you can add auto flowering traits to any non auto flowering cannabis genetics, no matter how long or short is their flowering, but you will need at least 3 breeding steps (and be successful in the F2-F3 breeding step) to fully fix the auto flowering trait in your cross.

We are indeed breeding an Auto Malawi cross right now, some phenos are very tropical sativa with a quite long flowering, yet 100 % auto flowering.

I think Buena Hierba have had success breeding Oldtimer's Haze and our Haze/Thai hybrids into auto/semi auto flowering crosses.

Hope it helps with your doubt.

PD: I'm glad you enjoyed Tikal so much ;)

Dubi, I noticed that there are two different Purple Haze Thai's at some of the seedbanks. I assume you put out some more? they seem to be at many seedbanks now. My question is : My Green Haze Thai that I'm growing are the same? The date is early 2013

Go to **********, they show 8 or 9 banks with them. Seedsman etc. Seedsman was the one that tripped me out, because they sell 2 different Ace PHT. I think they are the same price, I think one are the old Meao and these newer ones are "Hmong" which is the same I guess. My Green Haze Thai I grew seemed to be darker, I just assumed it was Meao dominant. These seeds were big and popped easy. My GHT 2 years ago was a bitch to pop. I went with Dubi's advice and just put it straight in, no papertowl.

Dr. King. My bad, it was OA seeds that I saw the 2 different PHT. On An F-1 and the other is F-3. I remember Dubi saying that was his favorite, who knows. I just want to know about the GHT. I think these are the ones from 2012 though.

Hi vinrusso,

We haven't released the Haze x Thai crosses again although i would like to do it in the future when we have a bit more of time (now busy with other projects).

Original Purple Haze Thai F1 and Green Haze Thai F1 were released in 2008, the second releases were F2-F3 produced in late 2012, and they were released in 2013 and 2014, so if you find stock from retailers must be the second release.

I'm glad you found some packs, hope you find interesting plants of your taste.
