Oldtimer's Haze

Had my Birthday on the 5th :woohoo:. Celebrated it with the last(2.5 grams) of my 6 month cured Oldtimer's Haze 24 week pheno and rest of its hash. I gotta say it was lovely smoking it. Pure strong smells of spices, incenses and a hint of wood. The hash smells like pure spices but not the bad nasty low grade cannabis pepper smell. It's more of a overwhelming smell of a bunch of different spices that don't resemble pepper at all. It's rather a lovely smell of heavy mixed spices.

In the last 3 months of curing the only noticeable thing I can tell that increased was the smells and taste. Potency was already at top level come month 2. Even 1 week cured was nasty potent. Stimulating effects like your body is vibrating. Other small hints of trippy effects but nothing overwhelming. I can't image how potent the OTH would be if grown outdoors or under a 4k. Still love her. Wish I had more then single 400 watt systems but some day, also wish I had more OTH bud .

Hi Dr King,

I also like to cure oldtimer's haze for at least 3 months to fully settle its different terpenes, especially the spicy and woody ones are much more pleasant with a good curing.

Haze is a low hash producer, but its hash is always something special. Hope you had a great birthday :)

Hi friends :tiphat:

ACE Purple Haze runned outdoors in ~4gl pot and full organics. It took about 20 weeks to get there, a valuable experience at many levels. My first contact with this type of long flowering sativas and i loved.
Here in my space i can´t go tall plants for a lot of reasons so i avoided the stretching with a lot of different approaches.

best vibes

Congrats pedrero :tiphat: One of the most beautiful Purple Hazes that i have seen lately grown in pot, she enjoyed a lot your climate and good cares.

Thanks a lot for sharing it, enjoy it!
Best vibes

what i pickep up about haze now and there that u should get about 5% killer plants that get your mind in other dimensions, 5% are real crap and the rest 90% are ok. so 20 to grow to find a good keeper?

can i imagine the same for oth?

thx willi

That is true when it comes to most breeders. Ace however is much different. The OTH 24 week pheno I did is my holy grail by far and it was 1 out of 1 :). Can't complain about that plus it was only under 400 watts. Over 100 different strains I've tired. Ace is the only breeder I can say for sure when dropping just a single seed will 99% of the time will turn out to be simply beautiful. True breeding at its finest.

I would second that statement every pheno of every strain so far has been 100% keep able in my book.

I think it's 5% are the best high their is. The other 95% is still killer. I think that 5% thing was Tom Hill haze.

that comment was made by a guy that started skunk devolution. the idea that sativas are not an viable option indoors, that you can make 7 week rotation set up and all that comes with it. shiiiiiit

Here are my 26f 6m ot-haze started about 50 seeds a few days ago

I can already see some leaf deformations but most are looking really
good! I will wait until I can see clearer signs of leaf deformities
before culling at about the second node.

I counted 50 seedlings, I thought I only had about 30 seeds:moon:

does anyone know if I'm allowed to write that I want to give some of them away? If it's in
the rules that I'm not you can delete this post. If not you can write me and if you are in
Europe/Holland

Hi chilliwilli,

I cannot talk for other pure haze lines, but maybe this statement was truth for the first oldtimer's haze selection, only a few parental plants between dozens really did stand out in terms of terpenes and effects i was looking for.
Purple Haze 23 and Green Haze 19 were my personal favourites of the group and the ones i have been mainly using to reproduce the strain, maybe others have other breeding goals and would differ in my opinion.

Guess this is due to the heavy inbreeding that the pure haze line has suffered since late 70s, probably there was not much effort to stabilize the best expressions of the hybrid at that time.

Since its first release, Oldtimer's haze has been selected for quality and towards my favourite haze traits for the past generations, nowadays the line has variations in yield and vigour but most of them now keep the aroma, effect and vibe that you would expect from a good pure haze line, anyway, as we have commented previously many times pure haze is so inbred that works much better in outcrosses, especially with other good sativas.

Hi hanfiking,

Good luck on your Oldtimer's Haze selection. Female 26 was a good purple pheno, and male 6 was a low yielding green haze male that produced quite good offspring.
These first Oldtimer's Haze lines were released in 2006-2007 so i'm happy they still germinate well for you.

Are you sure that other seeds were not inside the soil along with the hazes? One or two twins can appear, but 50 plants from 30 seeds sounds very strange :chin:

I'm 100% certain. I must have counted wrong. I just flew over it.

I'm doing an African style grow lots of plants in a small space and
letting the nutrients do the work for bringing on flowering. My seeds
are already f2 so this will be an f3 run but I'm taking it more serious
in terms of genetics. My really big hope is to find a purple male!!!!
