Oldtimer's Haze

I'm trying to germinate some OTH and Green Haze/Thai, but having no luck.
right now I'm 0/3 and 0/3.

I've germinated about 20 other seeds (soaking overnight in a glass and then into a paper towel) in the last couple weeks without problems.

My question is, does anybody know if know if the OTH needs more heat to pop the seeds than other strains?

I have been putting them in paper towel on a window sill but its been cloudy and rainy all week and only about 60 degrees max.

The OTH seeds are only a couple months old.

So, do I need it to be warmer to pop these seeds ??
or does it take longer for them to pop?

thanks so much :joint:

Forget the paper towel. Dioxin isn't good for seeds despite what you read on weed forums. Soak them for 24-36 hrs or until the seeds sink. Then sow them directly in cups of a seedling mix...9 parts peat moss to 1 part ewc with a little aeration works great. I put mine on a heat mat under a couple cfl's. I've been popping 5+ year old seeds recently with no issues. If you can get your hands on BioAg fulvic acid you'd increase your chances...

For the last couple of years I've been germinating my seeds in a glass of tapwater, 3-4 days and they crack alright...

Sorry to hear man. I've gotten 100% success rate with simply just placing the seed directly into the soil/cube(I don't pre-soak just my opinion). Gotten 100% with over 20 different breeders now . Humidity should be 70% atleast, temps should be atleast 70 degrees but I aim for 75. No dome use a humidifier so it helps with damping off. The free flow of air since seedling birth is better for them then inside of a container with limited air. 60 degrees probably killed them as both lines you stated have "Average" resistance to cold weather. Gotta keep check on their resistances if one doesn't have dialed in rooms. Best of luck man.

My 4 years old OTH seeds did germ at 19-22°C.
I soak them in tap water for 12h and put them in jiffies.
100% germ rate.
Same with Ace's Purple haze.

Hi Genghis Kush,

I recommend you to soak the haze seeds for 24 hours and then plant them straight in soil with warm temps (between 24-27ºC).

A few months ago i tried to germinate some old oldtimer's haze seeds, at the beginning they didn't germinate very well in paper towel. Then i planted them straight in soil without much hopes and they all came up in the next days.

Oldtimer's Haze is still an untamed wild sativa that prefers to be planted straight in soil. The more modern germination methods like paper towel don't work very well for this old tropical sativa line.

Hope it helps, good luck!

Nice side by side JohnnyChicago. Really enjoy seeing them together. Props for doing both. Had my Birthday on the 5th :woohoo:. Celebrated it with the last(2.5 grams) of my 6 month cured Oldtimer's Haze 24 week pheno and rest of its hash. I gotta say it was lovely smoking it. Pure strong smells of spices, incenses and a hint of wood. The hash smells like pure spices but not the bad nasty low grade cannabis pepper smell. It's more of a overwhelming smell of a bunch of different spices that don't resemble pepper at all. It's rather a lovely smell of heavy mixed spices.

In the last 3 months of curing the only noticeable thing I can tell that increased was the smells and taste. Potency was already at top level come month 2. Even 1 week cured was nasty potent. Stimulating effects like your body is vibrating. Other small hints of trippy effects but nothing overwhelming. I can't image how potent the OTH would be if grown outdoors or under a 4k. Still love her. Wish I had more then single 400 watt systems but some day, also wish I had more OTH bud .

Hi friends :tiphat:

ACE Purple Haze runned outdoors in ~4gl pot and full organics. It took about 20 weeks to get there, a valuable experience at many levels. My first contact with this type of long flowering sativas and i loved.
Here in my space i can´t go tall plants for a lot of reasons so i avoided the stretching with a lot of different approaches.
