The new LED cabinet is built, but requires mylar lining. I wanted to share some pics of the guts as its coming together:

Outside

Ventilation (189cfm)

8) 17w 3000k & 4) 15w 5000k for a total of 196w in a 2ft x 3 ft space. (32w per sqft)

That panel on the top is a vented hood. That's right, this cabinet is air cooled. Closeup of LED venting

Side profile of venting / exhaust system (to fans in second pic)

That last pic shows whats going on under the plastic - two 6 light chrome vanities. Its a pretty simple mod to any existing LED cabinet. You lay a piece of semi transparent plastic over your setup (mine is 1/4"), mark your centers on each socket and drill 2.5" holes with a hole saw. Mount the plastic about midway up the LEDs and you're done.

After a day of run time, the highest temp difference recorded between outside the air cooled LED cabinet and inside the cabinet was 1.2 degrees F.

Has anybody done a grow with just daylight led lights. The 5000k LEDs

Yup and unlike others, I don’t think it’s a terrible idea. The plants are squatter and quite frosty, though there’s a decrease in leaf size and a minor decrease in bud size. In a micro setup, I can see the advantages of squatter, less leafy plants. In my cabinets, I run mixed cause I’m less concerned with keeping the plants squat.

great job dude! how loud are the fans? :tiphat:

As loud as three computer fans in a computer case would be, sounds remarkably like any standard ATX tower case. I will say the Enermax Silence (63cfm each) line of fans aren’t nearly as quiet running as my Silenx Effizio 12-15 (74cfm each) which are nearly silent in the other cab despite both being rated at 15dBA. If you're looking for silent to the point of actively having to listen for fans running, the Silenx Effizio 12-12 (44cfm each) are near as makes no difference to silent.

Nice find on silent fans, but how do you go about plugging 10 of em in?
I'm not pulling 10 PC cases apart to line up so I can plug fans in, so how is it done?

that is quite a discovery, haven't noticed much in the way of solid 5000k grows
more mixed numbers
bad results with just 5000k?

bad is relative. but no, i would personally never do it again. Terp is growing skinny-leaf for personal use, it makes some sense.

that said, intensity isn't an issue with LED. i'd simply rather use nearly any other way to limit height.

holy crap! coming up on 15 years!

you wouldn't need ten fans for anything other than a grow that belonged in a tent in the first place.

Depending on how long you veg and what your space constraints are, you could pull a couple zips from those 4 plants.
??? SERIOUSLY?!
I’ve been reading this thread avidly, and plotting my own LED world takeover, but...if a quarter-ounce per plant is a reasonable result, then I am in the wrong place!

Seriously, the time has come to ask: what are the harvests y’all are gathering? I understand many microgrowers are involved, and I’m not out to get judgmental, but I’m certain I couldn’t make two ounces last from one harvest to the next...

But kept in context, that is 0.7 grams per watt, which many people struggle to achieve with any type of lighting. We need to benchmark the poster. Who believes a 6 lamp grow could warrant co2.

I confess, my target intent IS between 30-50w/ft.sq...and I’m eagerly watching Hastings’ 5x5 grow, no joke

Okay, back in to finish catching up to the thread...y’all are champs in my book

Hastings went into flower 4 months ago, and last posted in January. A week or two before chopping.
