I have no problem saying what I produce from these lights. From post 2689 on page 269 of this thread:

Everyone knows I'm not growing for weight as Im all untested sativa landrace hybrids from seed... but lets run some quick numbers. The last production style strain I ran was Fruity Pebbles OG x Sour Sunset x Pineapple. So from seed, first time out, I got roughly 2.5oz (1/2 gallon mason jar packed to the brim) from a 1 gallon pot. I can fit 8 of those in my cabinet, but since this one over grew the pot a little bit, lets be really safe and say I could only fit 6 plants in flower. That means from 180w (25w per sqft) I would theoretically pull about 420g / 15oz or 2.3g per watt.

picture.php

So my safe bet production style output is on par with typical 1000w lights putting out 5 lbs per light. Seeing as how people shoot for 3.5lbs a light, I would say thats fair.

I had a piece of clear lexan lying around from a previous project and now my veg area is air cooled as well:

While I was at it, I tested the bulb casing surface temps of the air cooled flowering cabinet vs my old non air cooled flowering cabinet.
Standard ventilation with fans at top bulb temp: 141F / 60C
Air cooled flowering bulb temp: 92F / 33C

to be brutally honest, i would think that someone crushing it with these may keep it to themselves. if i had a 5x5 stuffed to the gills like Hastings, and ended up pulling 1.0/W or better, you just plain couldn't get me to say shit.

Hahahah nice to see someone seeing the light!

holy crap! coming up on 15 years!

you wouldn't need ten fans for anything other than a grow that belonged in a tent in the first place.

I realise that, like you said, 15 years on this site, OG before here. But it still doesn't answer the Q.
Its like this, my grows are in my bedroom, so if small fans can now be bough that run silently, I'd rather run a bunch of them than one big fan that's no where near silent. I hate white noise, and so any amount of work that could silence air flow, would be a big plus for me. So I asked a question.
I have no knowledge of electrical stuff at all, ac/DC battery they are all just magic fairies on a treadmill powering stuff to me. So I asked.

Frys electronics or similar electronics store will have AC to DC power adapters made specially for running PC fans. Im running Rhino AC/DC molex adapters in both of my cabinets which run 2 fans at 12v DC from a single AC plug. Plug the fans in and go.

Nice find on silent fans, but how do you go about plugging 10 of em in?
I'm not pulling 10 PC cases apart to line up so I can plug fans in, so how is it done?

This is how I did it:

Awww shit...that’s got me thinking again...force-filtered intake fan? / push-pull exhaust fore and aft of the carbon filter? Tuneable negative pressure?
What the hell is wrong with me: I don’t have a grow, don’t have a room, don’t have a tent...<smdh>

Thanks, that's the whole kit and caboodle, one final q, is that OK to plug in in the UK or would it go bang here? Some type of difference between UK and american electric, different fairy tribes I think.

Hey, no problem :)

That, I dont know but Id assume if you get a dc converter that plugs into your wall then you'd be ok. Or, don't they sell international power adapters?

Canada and the US are 120V AC.
The UK is 240V AC, so yes it would blow up if you plugged it in, in the UK.

But the plugs are different so you can't plug it in anyway.

There should be a UK version available.
Check the picture of the plug at the website and make sure it's what you're used to.

Your plugs in the UK probably look like this.

Make sure what you buy has that kind of plug and says 240 V.

You can get a separate transformer to convert your 240 V to 120 V but that more parts and pieces and expense to deal with.

Just this guy, ya know?
The only part I'd do myself is the cabling. 4$ for a foot of wire is practically highway robbery!

I just checked cronosync's power supply link and that power supply will run on 240 V.

You could get that system along with one of these ($4- $10) and you can plug it right into your European socket.
It's a computer cord for Europe.

Interesting, but I'd never risk putting a 2 pin plug into a UK socket. Our plugs have a live, neutral and ground pins. I'm sure the power supply can be sorted though. I'll find something, I don't want to totally derail the thread

Anybody near western mass need simple, non mains voltage soldering done, I'd be glad to help. :tiphat:

Now, that is one HECK of a generous offer! I could have used some help six months ago but I'm better for it, even if I do still suck with the iron. Just not totally terrified.

Oops. I thought EU and UK were the same.

This is probably what you need.

I would message you but I can't do that yet.

There are two types of connectors for the other end of the cord make sure it comes with the right one.

Man this is why I hate electrical stuff, there's never a solution that anyone can use. I have no idea what connector types I need, I'm giving up guys, its too much. Thanks for trying with me, but its just not possible when nothing is the same.
Sorry blynx, just polluted your great thread.
