the bills looked off and you are so right about how the turn overs totally killed them
i still like this young team but their inexperience got exposed last night
they played well to start the game but when they went off the track they just couldent get back on
we will see how herbert does the rest of the season but so far he has impressed with his arm and poise
/comparing him to a young rivers seems apt
speaking of rivers, i think he shit the bad again this weekend with some costly picks
the colts have a decent team but unless rivers can limit his turnovers they are kind of limited
that sucks that there is no thursday night game and i heard rumors about extending the season to 18wks
hope you are all having a great week and enjoying the season so far!
you can totally feel the fall in the air

Bills lost by 26 but even after that early int, I was impressed with josh allen. He’s always had a strong arm, on par with mahomes, but his accuracy is now also very good. Throwing 25-30 yard darts downfield, he was one of the worst deep ball throwers last year despite his arm strength but he’s really improved.
I think there’s a stat that only dak has had more fantasy pts the last 4 weeks than Herbert, so im not sure this is a fluke. Experts are comparing him to mahomes, with his ability to move around the pocket (chargers O-line isnt great) and throw accurate passes all over the field, including deep. Also Goff ranks top 10 in most passing stats this year, so both LA qb’s are playing well, even though only the rams are winning games.
Rivers threw 2 picks and no td’s against the browns, he’s completing 70% of his passes but he’s got a 4td-5int ratio, and is bottom 10 in passer rating. It’s not a great start for them, he was supposed to be the missing piece, a good to very good QB, to replace Luck but turns out his poor play wasn’t just a product of being on the bolts and having to make a lot of risky throws when theyre behind. Honestly the one game I saw, against the bears, his arm strength looks gone. He was accurate enough on short passes but those balls looked like wounded ducks. He’s on a one year deal so I doubt the colts will re-sign him. Maybe he can be a backup somewhere if he still wants to play.

Hawk, if you can get frontier service (I knew a guy who lived in Iowa and his service was frontier, it was good, tv internet phone worked well) you might want to apply for their low cost internet service, they call it lifeline and you get discounted internet and/or phone service. If you or someone you know is on Medicaid or SNAP or SSI you’ll qualify. I think I set that up for my inlaws since they were on SNAP, got ATT internet for like $10/month, it wasn’t that fast but fast enough for streaming.

That’s a lot of pts

NYJ hasn't pushed 8 all year and won't until they do. Flacco is going to take them there? Tech's rain-assisted win last game and really every final this year was not representative - if they're within 28 it will be like winning the lottery twice and will involve TO's, if Clemson is back.

speaking of dak, that was a terrible injury and you could tell he knew it was bad as soon as he went down
hopefully he can come back this season but i dont think the cowboys are going anywhere this year
i like herbert but i dont see him being in the same category as mahomes, at least not yet
the chargers have a way of just playing mediocre and even when rivers was in his prime they found ways to lose
will herbert be able to turn things around and make them a winner? we will see but they can choke all they want and no one would really care
/have i said f-spanos lately?

that sounds like a screaming deal if you can sign up for it hawk
$10 a month isnt bad at all and you dont need the fastest connection there is, just enough to get you online and streaming those game
luckily, san diego was spared from the fires this year
all the back country around here burned down a few years ago but we have been having wet spring times so its growing back fast
enjoy the nice weather while you can my man and get ready for some holiday action!

Well now the line has moved and the Fins are favored by 9.5 or 10. Yeah, flacco is the definition of mediocre and has been for years, they lost by 20 to the Cards, only scored 10pts, Jamison crowder is the only decent off player they have and he specializes in 5-10yd passes. So they could easily lose by 20 or more again.
U have a good point, da U is a better team than GT and they lost by 25 at Clemson. GT lost by 28 to #14 ranked UCF, obviously Clemson is #1 and way better than UCF. And I think GT is still running that triple option style offense, the only major school outside of the service academies to do so? I guess when it works you get time of possession, but good luck trying to pick up first downs against clemson’s defense.

Yeah, we haven’t talked much about the injuries Pop. Dak’s ankle fracture was a compound one, like Alex Smith’s 2 years ago, where the bone was sticking out of the skin. You couldn’t see it cause his sock was covering it plus they put an aircast on it. If he avoids infection he could start rehab in a couple months, and maybe be ready for running and throwing 4 months after that, so maybe April? And then spend all summer getting back to 100% and be ready for training camp in Aug. Word is that the cowboys might franchise tag him again, which would be a cool 37M next year, so that’s good for him too.
Think about this, mahomes didn’t blow up till his 2nd year (he started week 17 his rookie year when the chiefs had locked up a playoff spot, did alright but not great) and Herbert is doing this stuff in just 4 starts his rookie year. Now ur right, obviously mahomes is like Godgers 2.0 when he’s rolling but he hasn’t been lighting it up lately, and Herbert is going toe to toe with super bowl winners. I mean, Spanos doesn’t deserve an elite QB (F him btw) but I think in general chargers nation is very excited, the most valuable asset in the NFL is an elite QB on a rookie deal they just have to surround him with talent. Ur right though it’s a big if they always seem to screw it up or players get injured like derwin james this year but it's got to be a breath of fresh air with this kid vs seeing washed up rivers QBing the team.

Yeah the frontier low cost program seemed like a $10 discount instead of $10 for everything including modem rental but let us know if it works out. Also one thing I often do to save money is buy my own modem and router, these jokers charge like 6-10 dollars a month to rent theirs when u can buy your own for like 50-80 bucks (including wifi router) and use it for years. And if worse comes to worst I don’t think listening to radio broadcasts is that bad, most times im not even watching the tv lol just listening to it and imo radio announcers do a very good job describing the action, much more than tv announcers.

Also if youre in western IL i think Mediacom might service your area and they have a $10mth low cost program for 10mbps internet...

thats a good point about buying your own wifi equipment and just having them provide the service baba'
you pay once and then you are set and you recoup the cost pretty quickly
/plus you get better gear
you are on the right track hawk and will get this figured out

i like herbert but you are so right about how the chargers dont deserve nice things!
#f-spanos
the thing with mahomes was he sort of plugged into a system that was built to win before he got there
good players on both sides of the ball and a top notch coach gave him a leg up on most rookie qb's
with the chargers you have a team with no identity and sucky management at best
/i like anthony lynn as a hc but dont think he is anywhere near andy reid in leading a team
all in all, i like this herbert kid and agree with you that he definitely has elite potential
/will it be elite enough to lift the bolts to champion status?
i think ol gerrah' will take care of dak and resign him to another season, but what if he had a top-3 draft pic?
so are you guys doing anything for halloween this year baba?
ive been going for these nice walks at night and im seeing a lot more houses decorated
i dont think there will be much door to door trick or treating but that dosent have to mean there is no halloween

And I think GT is still running that triple option style offense, the only major school outside of the service academies to do so?

They're trying out spread and have a QB, but it's hard to see them duplicating a performance like last week's unexpected win.

This is a test of my rating system vs. current ATS lines, on the record this time. Does 11-1 one week become 1-13 the next?

CAR, DET, NE, BAL, and LAR are 1/2 pt. better than Vegas says?
CIN, ATL, HOU, and PIT are 1.5 to 3 pts. away.
WAS, GB, MIA, ARI, and KC have more space.

#f-spanos

I sense a disturbance in the force. Such darkness from the IC beacon of positivity. It must have been some damage. Get well soon.

Yeah, I think comcast used to charge $6/mth for their modem, when it didn’t have a wifi router built in, and you could buy your own cable modem for like $50 at best buy or online, so if you rented their modem for 3 years you’d end up paying for that modem 4x and you still have to return it after youre done. Bogus. Nice thing about the low cost internet plans is that they usually don’t charge you for the equipment rentals, and I think even service visits are free.
True, lynn isnt the coach that Reid is, at least not yet. Does Lynn call his own plays? Reid’s been someone who gets the most out of his QBs and has been doing that for 20+ yrs since he had McNabb in philly, it’s no wonder he got hired at KC just days after philly fired him.
Chargers definitely need another good draft or two to really be a contender, and who knows Herbert may cool off and become sort of good instead of really good. But his accuracy on deep balls and his ability to move around the pocket, finding passing lanes and avoiding rushers, those are skills that you’d think would get better over time and he's already really darn good now. But ur right, if any team could eff this up it’d be the bolts (F Spanos).

I think only the #1 overall pick would get you Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields of ohio state may go top 10 as well and this guy named trey lance (from N. Dakota State alma mater of wentz) may be a 1st rounder as well. I don’t think the ‘boys have to worry about having a top draft pick, andy Dalton is good enough to put up pts with that offense, and Leighton vander esch, their best LB, might come back this week. And at 2-3 theyre actually leading the NFC east, so who knows they could make the playoffs as well.
Yeah, doubt there will be any trick or treating this year but I am seeing all the Halloween candy for sale in stores, maybe they wont sell that well and we can pick it up cheap after Halloween. Although buying pounds and pounds of candy isnt going to be good for my blood sugar.

11-1 is a great week Gojoe but obviously not sustainable long term, as you’ve said it’s an oblong ball that bounces weird, injuries are unpredictable, etc etc. Plus as the players themselves like to say “those other guys get paid too”, which is to say even a crappy football team could play out of their minds and give a good team a hard time. What’s a good ratio for season long handicapping, like 65-70% win rate? Maybe an outlier season of 80% winning? I imagine it’s hard to beat the sportsbooks, theyre professional handicappers with decades of experience and the smart money will move the line as well. Of course there’s a lot of idiot bettors as well but they usually don’t last long, right?
Truthfully I haven’t seen any GT games but when I looked at their stats their QB seemed to be leading their team in rushing which made me think he’s an option guy but he also is averaging 30 pass attempts a game which isnt what an option QB does. So yeah modernizing their offense you’d think would help them but in the end theyre still a middling ACC football team which means theyre chum to the Clemson tigers. Not quite fair that Clemson is in a such a weak conference whereas bama has to be in the SEC but maybe ND could give them a game later this season.

have you been eyeing this years draft class? i know t.lawrence is the consensus #1 but who else do you see coming out this season that can make an impact
the chargers have a decent team on both sides of the ball but find ways to put up those L's
bad coaching was part of it but a lot of it is just the bad luck you cant predict
/d.james
they also play in a tough division where even 10 wins wont be enough
dalton is a decent backup and you might be right about the cowboys still haveing a shot at the post season; right now i think the only reason they are still in it is that the rest of the nfc.e is playing terribly so they have as much a chance as anyone
still, the only team out of that bunch going to the playoffs is the division winner
/i like washington w/ alex smith
i already made the mistake of letting the mrs pick up a bag of this mixed hard candy
im cherry picking out the cinnamon candies and im always down with those butterscotches but yeah, i dont think i need any more sugar
i might make an exception for reses peanut butter cups or receses pieces
so what would be your favorite candy

you caught me joe, the darkness is real; im a full on black hole of disdain for the spanos family
/actually im over it and have moved on but its fun to root against a team every now and then

Yeah, don’t really look at draft prospects till the offseason, but Lawrence is considered like Andrew luck in 2012, a cant miss QB prospect. Even a team that spent a top pick on a QB recently (jets, giants), or has a long time QB (matt ryan) would pick Lawrence and trade their current starter. Or maybe trade the #1 for a ton of other picks, like future picks for the next 4-5 years, he’s worth that much.
I think the WR from LSU (Jamarr chase) and the OL from Oregon (penai sewell) are considred top 5 picks as well, both those guys I think opted out of the college football season to minimize covid risk and prepare for the draft. Patrick Surtain II, a DB from Bama, is also considered a 1st rounder, I remember his dad playing DB in the NFL, retired in 2008. Man u know ur getting old when the kids of the players you remember are now entering the league, lol…
It’s funny you mention the reeses because chocolate and peanut butter is my favorite combo. And with the peanut butter at least it has some nutritional value, not much but some. But I like it all really, hard candies, chocolate etc. I guess hard candy can last for months if you store them in a cool dry place, chocolate will last too but not as long. I just don’t want to buy a bunch of sweets and feel forced to eat them quick before they go bad, and I like to save my fridge/freezer space for real food…
Yeah gojoe, dean spanos is the owner of the chargers and kept pressuring san diego to build him a new stadium so he could get more money (luxury boxes, personal seat licenses, etc) but the SD voters didn’t want to fund it with new local taxes. That’s the bad thing about building sports stadiums, it’s regular folks paying taxes to buy rich people (team sports owners are billionaires if you count the value of their franchise) a new stadium so they can get even richer. So spanos agreed to be the 2nd tenant in stan kroenke’s new LA rams stadium, only problem is LA got along with no NFL football for decades, moving the rams there from st louis was fine but the chargers have no fan presence in LA, in fact they have a lot of raiders fans from the 80s so those guys hate the chargers (divisional rival) lol. I don’t even think 10k chargers fans would show up to their games in carson city where they played while the stadium was being built, and their sale of PSLs were so low Kroenke was thinking of suing them since he needs that money. He’s financing the stadium himself since his wife is a Walmart heiress but still it’s costing billions and the chargers aren’t bringing anything to the table, no fans, no ticket revenue etc. I bet even when fans are allowed back that nice new stadium will still be half empty except for raiders games when most of the crowd will be booing the bolts lol.

that pretty much sums things up nicely baba'
how spanos kept asking for free stuff from the city, like prime real estate, only to back out and ask for more once the city got things going
i felt like he wasnt negotiating in good faith and was just stringing san diego along the whole time
i know football is a business but the way he went about moving the team was all wrong
if he had just came out and said i want to move to la i would have had more respect for him
looks like the colts have some covid problems and we will see how this impacts the schedule of games
so far the nfl has done a pretty good job of managing the outbreak
le.veon bell signed with the chiefs and he should be a nice addition to the run game
they have a nice up and coming rookie in edwards-helair but i tihnk bell still has some gas left in the tank
i havent seen any numbers yet but im sure its a team friendly deal since the chiefs dident really need to bring on another rb
im with you man, chocolate and peanut butter for the win!
cant wait for the games this weekend and hope you are wrapping up this week nicely my man!

/just had to retype this after deleting the whole post

Are most of the seafood dishes in Slavonija stews and soups? I think in America most of the seafood is either fried (battered and deep fried cod or whitefish like the UK fish and chips) or grilled or oven baked (salmon, swordfish, etc), with a side of rice or potato (baked or mashed or fries). We do have fish stews but those are more for fine dining restaurants I think.
I saw that yt video about lazaret, where they supplied Europe with a bunch of cannabis until the govt, in hopes of joining the EU, shut most of it down in 2014. Sad that the country’s govt was fine with it, in fact the cannabis trade brought in a lot of $ to the country, but when the govt saw more profit in joining the EU they sent in the police and military to shut it down by force.
I remember around 20 years ago, 2000 or so, good homegrown weed around Chicago was worth more than gold ($300/ounce). That’s the perverse thing is that making drugs illegal really just benefits the black market; many central and south American cartels made/make billions of dollars selling illegal drugs to America. If anything, legalization would get rid of their profits, like it has done to cannabis.
Heh, you make a good point about our 2 party system, there’s a lot of people who don’t like trump but also don’t really like biden or hilary Clinton (2016 election). If you don’t really like either candidate who do you vote for? Libertarian or Green party together get less than 5% of the vote, it’s like a waste voting for them.
America’s deadliest war is still the civil war from the 1800’s, I sometimes think America would want to split between red state and blue state type areas if they had a choice. Even if blue (democratic) states (Illinois, California, new York) the people in rural areas (farmland, small towns far from cities, etc) are mostly red (vote republican). There’s always exceptions but this is usually the rule, big cities vote democrat and smaller towns/rural areas vote republican. Im not sure how this upcoming election will go, biden is supposedly leading but I wouldn’t be shocked if trump won again.
I think republicans don’t want healthcare for all and democrats do. Republicans in general want smaller, less expensive govt. I agree that healthcare costs in America are insane, they’ll try to charge you $10-$50 for one Tylenol or aspirin, you can get big bottle(s), hundreds or thousands of pills, for that price.
I saw that documentary Once were Brothers from Espn, about Vlade divac (serb) and Drazen/Kukoc (Croat) and once the Yugoslav war started they wouldn’t speak to each other after being very close as teammates on the Yugoslav national team. Sad but understandable. I think the Serbs started the war by invading Croatia first?
Did the Balkans have a lot of immigrants from Syria? I think that was a concern with a lot of EU countries, lot of refugees can just drive and enter their countries. We got some Syrian refugees I think in America, I had a negative interaction a few years ago with one (i think he scammed me) but other than that no other experience.
California is very expensive to live in, Poprocks would be the first to tell you that. LA, San Diego, San Francisco are expensive, and certain towns in Silicon Valley (around SF) are very expensive too. I think one town in Silicon valley, their police force couldn’t afford to live inside the town, so they rented a few RV’s (recreational vehicles/mobile homes) and the cops would sleep in the RV during their workweek and then on the weekend (2-3 days off) would go back to their real home (1 or 2 hour drive away since they couldn’t afford anything closer).
I would say bread (yeast bread, not flatbread) is the most popular grain in America, with potatoes a close second and rice third. Some areas, like the southeast, eat more rice than other areas, and of course if you are ethnically Asian you would eat more rice than the average American. Is most bread in Croatia flatbread (unleavened) or is there a lot of yeast/risen bread too? I like both types.
I agree, too much calorie dense food it bad for you, especially without a lot of physical activity. I think French people eat a lot of calorie rich food (bread, cream, butter, meat etc) but their portions are more modest so their weight gain is more reasonable. Also, it’s more like your country where people tend to shop more frequently for their meals, they don’t often keep a lot of food at home preferring to shop for it fresh, whereas in America a lot of people eat fast food regularly which is usually much worse for you.
Ok, seems like the hot paprika in the Balkans is basically red hot peppers like we have in north America. I guess paprika, hot peppers (red and green) and even bell peppers are all part of the same family.
I see some of the big soccer clubs in EU trade the best players for hundreds of millions of dollars in transfer fees. It’s amazing how much the professional athletes’ salaries have risen in American and Europe. I still think most athletes want to win (messi wants to be traded so he can win more) but yeah, you make a good point, too much money in a sport can cause a lot of corruption and/or bad intentions.
Drazen made all-nba 3rd team his last year so he was the 3rd best shooting guard in the league (behind Michael Jordan and joe dumars), he was amazing, shooting 45% from 3pt range, off the dribble, pull up 3’s. No one had ever really done that before in the NBA, he was really 20+ years ahead of his time. He was 29 when he died, makes you wonder how much he could have done if he had played 6-7 more years in his prime. Being able to shoot like that, he could have played till 40 maybe, have some all time 3 point records.
I think even now the Balkan area, for the size of their population, is the most talent rich basketball area in the world, even more than America which has many more people. Luka is Slovenian and will probably win one or more MVP’s. I don’t know, maybe Balkan people are very athletic and skilled?
Ive tried mdma a few times, I think it was alright but I didn’t do it so much. LSD I think ive tried but not much. Here in America a lot of children are prescribed Adderall which is basically pharmaceutical speed in order to help them ‘focus’ in school. I think amphetamines are good for weight loss (did you lose weight on them?) but it’s bad for your heart and blood pressure, although I did like the energy boost (but hard to sleep on!).
Ive had some really trippy experiences on cannabis a few times but mostly if I do too much I just sleep, lol. I do find that I don’t dream as much when im smoking a lot, or at least I don’t remember my dreams when I wake up.

You got it little mixed ..We in Slavonia are in deep country east side of it , bordering with bosnia, hungary and serbia.. And we have river dishes as fish paprikash, but except that and we have some more stewish dish also. But rest is pure grilled fish, or deep fired..
Its same at coast they have brodet, and rest are grilled fish dishes.

Only thing that they accomplished by raiding lazaret is that other vilages boost up their production of weed..And lazaret is also back on track..They had 3day gun fights with police..They had to come swat way.. Albania is like europe afganistan, by drug trade position and lack of any real law.

I saw few doc. about cartels , legalisation fckd them up mayor way, but they switched to heroin, fentanil and meth.. I think that's why you have epidemic now of heroin addict and meth addicts..

Let be hones those are much better customers than weed smokers..

That doc. movie about Vlade and Drazen is a little blown up, they weren't best friends and shit, just team mates.. Its a little bit complicated.. We had lots of Serb minority (in some parts of Croa they were majority)in Croatia..And when we decided to get independent and free , they didn't want to separate from Yugoslavia or serbiA, AND THEY rebel with support of Serb guvermant and army plus paralegal forces from serbia.. Plus they blame US for NDH and Ustase crimes, although we are not embracing that legacy..Like every German isnt nazi .. So all Crimes they did was like retribution for 1941-1945 ustase crimes..

We were transitional country, like I said they dont have interest in Balkan, too poor social welfare.. But someone of they stayed.. It isnt pleasant when hordes of people coming thru your country , taht we bleeded and died for just 25y ago.. fckn dam shame..And who knows how many Terrorists are amoungst them,..They were 86% of males under 40y.. Refugees? fkc you!!

And let me tell you..War refugee escape in first non war territory..
You dont go to 800km distanced Country..

I would say about bred is half half.. They keep that info disclosed-SO if you dont ask / you cant really know what kind of bread you're eating (we have lots of small bakeries that sell non packaged bread so you dont know whats inside) ...

I thionk that main difference in EU vs US food is we doint add extra shits in our meals, like I heard you add butter to everythibng anbd things like that,.

Like some Repper had Eu tour France, Italy etc, and he shitted on our food..Like its tasteless..
Two gourmet capital countries in the world and you say its trash? lol

I d9ojt know how or why but Here in Balkans and Russia have that Basketball gene.
Sadly basketball is completely ruined in all of ex yugos countries, and its very hard to wait for some new talent from here..
Al basketball schools are ruined, clubs and league is in very poor state. We have ruined everything good in our sports ,same as in economy.. I dont like Slovenians but that Doncic is fckn beast...:bigeye: We are not skilled but like someone said we are giving much much emphasis on basketball basics, and you in USA are more focused on athleticism.. WHen you have skills and basic in your pinky that is much easier to get to next level.

If someoNe is interested in Drazen Legacy.. And Croatia.. :)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpgdnucBqQA

Speed is shittiest drug, and it keeps me from sleepin many hours.Like if I do last line in 5am.. There is no chance that I will go to sleep in next 12/18hrs and fun in your head is long gone.. But cocaine is too pricey so we do poor cocaine..Speed. :)
I really dont know how can anybody can be hooked on meth..

Yes it keeps you slim, but I lost major weight raving..xtc is were and will be my fav drug,,Change my life.. I lost 50 pounds with it,From fatboy to skinny boy.. Best diet ever.. Go to rave do some xtc and just dance for hours..I was coming home soak wet, all close, and underwear wet wet from my sweat.

Yeah, im going to have to read up on the sordid history between spanos and SD, seems like it went on for quite a few years before Kroenke swooped in. SD land is very valuable so that should have been enough to make him some good money with a new stadium, but greedy rich people always want more. He thought by having an ‘LA’ instead of an ‘SD’ in front of the name his team would double in value overnight, unfortunately you need fan support to get more ticket revenue and tv ratings, and there’s way less of both when he moved 2 hours north.
Yeah every day it seems we have another report of some player testing positive. All these positives are really messing with the schedule, teams are closing facilities as a precaution, players cant practice, games are getting delayed. It’s really starting to put a damper on the season, but ur right Pop, so far it hasn’t been TOO bad, we’re still on track for everyone to have a 16 game season.
Everyone who drafted Clyde Edwards-helaire in fantasy football is pissed that leveon bell is on the chiefs, CEH was already not scoring any tds (just 1 in week 1) and now he’s going to split work with bell. But good for the chiefs I guess, not that they needed any more offensive talent. It’s been 3 years since he dominated the league, not sure if he’s still got it but he’s still under 30 and he was on a bad offense with the jets, plus he had some injuries.

Gojoe was absolutely right when he thought Clemson would cover, they crushed GaTech by 66. Literally almost 2.5 times the 27.5pt spread. Some teams just have a good record against the spread some years, u think Clemson will be one, GJ?

Ah ok, so you’re in slovonia near the border Croatia shares with other countries. That Brodet (fish stew) looks great by the way. And it’s normally served with polenta (boiled cornmeal)? We call that grits in America, basically a corn porridge, I like it especially when I make it with milk and cheese, very creamy.
I think having a variety of breads and grains is good, unleavened bread (flat bread), yeast (risen) bread, rice, potatoes (mashed or chips) etc etc. I like them all and they each have their own place in a meal.
I guess we use a lot of fats in our cooking, in Wisconsin they have a butter burger which is a hamburger with a piece of butter melted on top to add extra juiciness, and deep fried foods are popular (fries, chicken, boneless chicken pieces, breaded mushrooms, etc etc they’ll even dip candy bars like Snickers or cookies like Oreos in batter and deep fry it). I guess the philosophy is everything is better when it’s deep fried.
But mostly I think we add a lot of preservatives and coloring to our foods. Most processed food has all sorts of weird ingredients if you read the label, like calcium ascorbate and red dye #5. Supposedly it keeps the food fresh and looking good but I can’t help but think EU style food/cooking would be healthier, where you shop at a small market every day or two for fresh food instead of buying a lot of heavily processed food.
I never heard of the NDH and Ustase crimes, but a lot of horrible things were done during WW2, in both Asia and Europe. I think it’s true that the most atrocities have been performed by one race against each other, like the English and French used to have terrible wars against each other in medieval times, Japan and China fought before and during WW2, African nations/tribes have been fighting each other forever, Israelis and Arabs, etc etc. Racially these groups are very similar if not identical in many respects but the most violent wars have been done to each other. Crazy when you think about it, but I guess if youre fighting over the same resources (land, access to water or minerals, etc) then it makes more sense.
That’s disturbing that most of the refugees passing through were fighting age men. If they were women and children and older people then maybe it’s ok, but like you said those people stopped when they got out of the fighting areas. I think recently some extremists chopped off the head of a teacher in France who showed cartoons of Muhammad to his class, and the police had to shoot and kill him? Well, best to be on your guard. I think there are some muslims in the Balkan area so there are mosques there? But I think during the Yugoslav war in the 90’s there was some ethnic cleansing done against muslims, so maybe not as many as before…
I think the US saw the international basketball game during the Olympics and world championships and knew they had to adapt to keep up. In 2004 the US only won the bronze during the Olympics and afterwards put an emphasis on more shooting and team defense than 1 on 1 scoring and driving. Plus NBA rules changed to allow more zone type/help defense to pack the paint and take away drives to the basket, so in general nba players had to adapt too. Mike Dantoni who first coached in Europe brought international style ball to the nba with the phoenix suns, their 7 seconds or less offense, they won a lot of games with not a lot of elite talent, even Steve Nash was great but not elite because of his relative lack of defense. But scoring overall has risen lately so the emphasis now is more on outscoring your opponent than defensive stops, the NBA thinks more scoring makes for better viewing experience (same in the NFL).
Ill watch that yt video but nba fans know the current generation of do-everything big men (7 footers who can pass and dribble and shoot 3’s) started in Europe. It’s funny the big Euro players were at first discriminated against for having an all around game instead of just standing by the basket and banging, nowadays a big man can’t play much in the nba without having a well-rounded game.
It’s sad if the former Yugoslav countries don’t have the sports infrastructure they used to have, but for the most part don’t the best Balkan prospects go pro when theyre teenagers and move to other countries (spain, France, etc) to continue to develop? So as long as theyre still able to grow and advance there should still be a lot of athletes coming from the Balkans. Tennis (Djokovic), volleyball, water polo, swimming etc Balkan athletes represent a lot of disproportionate amount of the elite players. But what about soccer, are there any great Balkan soccer players?
Heh, yeah, speed is terrible for sleep, meth is basically speed with an extra methyl group so it’s stronger. I think that’s when meth addicts get really weird, when they go days without sleep, you start hallucinating. I know I’ve don’t x before but don’t remember having a great time on it, maybe it wasn’t enough or it wasn’t pure or maybe it’s just not for me.

Yeah, Rodgers stunk it up against Tompa, and brady played great all game. It was literally Rodgers worst game of his career, stats wise, at least of the games he finished and didn’t leave early because of injury. Bears being 5-1, tied with the packers atop the north, and Vikings being 1-5, is one of the more surprising results of the season so far. Bears offense is still below average but with that defense theyre consistently winning games, so maybe it’s not all bad. Still can’t imagine them doing well against the packers though.

Yeah, making tamales from scratch is a process, and probably works better with 2 people. Not sure if it should take 4-6 hrs, is that counting the cooking time? I saw that video and seems like for tamales you want a more coarse ground masa, instead of a fine ground masa which is best for tortillas. If you cant find coarse masa they used half quick grits (not instant) and added boiling water to the grits first and let it sit before mixing it with the masa. Nice hack. Plus they added corn kernels and butter and lard to the final masa, blended in a food processor. That looked fire, along with the chicken in chile sauce filling.

what a great sunday of football (unless you are a rams fan) and we have two times the fun coming at us tonight!
/cant wait for the mid day game!
rodgers stunk presst bad but the worst smell in the room for me was the rams
night side came to play and im not going to say they got exposed, but its easy to win against sub-par teams; the 9'rs were the best team in the nfc last year and even with some big injuries can flat out play
bears stand atop the nfc.n with another win and the loss by green bay helps
rams pooped themselves against the 9rs and showed they still have a long way to go if they want to compete in the nfc.w
goff wasnt on point, (he did have some big drops) but you could see they were just playing flat; the defense was limited and jimmy.g moved the ball well

i enjoy americans test kitchen,(the same people used to be on a different pbs cooking show) and they offer some really good tips
tamales arent that hard to make but it all comes down to the masa
ive seen it done before and baba is right that its usually something you have several people doing
its like rolling joints man, once you have a good masa you just fill it and fold
they offer pre made masa here in san diego at certain stores and i will have to try that grits thing one of these days
if you make it from scratch, like my neighbors nana used to make, you have to use lard
they even have a masa mix you can buy, i just googled it
get some good fillings too
like make some good pulled pork or chicken and then roll that up
a good portion of that white mexican cheese and its on brother!

Yeah, that rams-niners game was surprising, niners jumped ahead 14-0 and rams couldn’t really get anything going on O. Rams scored a td in the 2nd qtr but the PAT was blocked, Goff threw an int in the end zone in the 3rd quarter, and the rams didn’t score another TD till late in the 4th and couldn’t get a stop on the niners to get the ball back. For all that, rams only gave up 10 pts after the niners scored 14 in the first quarter (well 1st qtr and 2 minutes) but ur right Pop, they allowed the niners a 37 min time of possession, they just couldn’t get them off the field when it counted.
I knew these divisional matchups would be tough for LA but figured SF would be especially vulnerable, with so many injuries and having gotten killed at home by the dolphins last week. But yknow, any given Sunday and all that. Ur right Pop, even though theyre not likely to go 13-3 and make it back to the superbowl, SF isnt going to be a pushover this season.
Lard makes everything better, in refried beans, masa, etc. It’s like the butter of Mexican cooking. Dang, all these tamale videos make me think I should get off my lazy arse and actually make some. And that video said once cooked you can freeze them for up to 3 months. Hell, I’d give up an entire afternoon if I could have delicious tamales for months.
I think the NFL listened to ESPN and moved the covid-delayed game earlier, like u said Pop ESPN wasn’t happy with having competition and put their foot down. Im not used to having afternoon football except on Sundays but this’ll work…
