happening baba', hope your day is off to a great start
i bet there are a few a few names that you would want to change if you had them, hitler is a great example
there has not really been a whole lot of coverage coming out of training camp this year
ive fallen behind on the rams after the draft and what i can find isnt anything really new
/its tough not being able to see the guys in action too
that is a great idea to make the italian beef! but here most of the bulgogi is marinated
im going to try it!
man, it seems like the world is going crazy
the whole thing has gotten way out of control and will only get worse for the people who are destroying and looting
/why arent they protesting in their own neighborhoods?
im not up to speed on the latest police shooting, but i bet it has something to do with resisting arrest
i guess there were also kids in the car and im not 100% on what happened but i dont think the rioting is going to accomplish what they thing it will

Im interested to see if cam akers is going to be the #1 RB on the rams, or if Darrell Henderson is the guy. I think Malcolm brown is just average but if he’s the most consistent (and best pass protector) he may get the call as well. I think mcvay would like to stick with a bellcow back instead of a committee, but if the committee is what’s best for the offense then that’s what he’ll do.

Ive bought that marinated bulgogi and that’s always good stuff but yeah you need the unmarinated version if you want to add your own seasonings. Haven’t made IB since last December (holidays), haven’t felt the need to make it since then but that may change later on.

Yeah, this latest shooting the guy was in a tussle with the cops, they were trying to taze him but it didn’t work, he got up and walked to his car, he might have had a knife in hand (or it may have been in the car) they followed him with guns out and he opened the door and bent down and the cop was right behind him, grabbed his shirt and shot him 7x point blank in the back. To their credit they started doing life saving measures right away, he was airlifted to a hospital and is alive but paralyzed below the waist now.
I think protestors want the cop charged, imo there are more egregious police shootings than this one. But until a decision is made one way or another there’s going to be riots.

im warming up to c.akers being the rams feature back, but without seeing him play any nfl ball its going to be a tough call for the rams
you also bring up a good point about situational packages and not wanting to tip your hand by the players you sub into the game
im going to sit down and see if i can get back up to speed here soon but like i said i like watching the guys in addition to practice tape and team scouting when making my evaluation
wasnt there something about kids at the scene too? the whole thing stinks and i dont
/wtf would you try grabbing a knife in the first place?
i dont think the rioters are going to be happy with anything the courts do, especially if they find the officers were acting within their capacity as law enforcement
do you have any plans for the weekend?
im hoping to get out and do some hiking or at least go for a nice walk
we got some stuffed salmon form costco and even tho im not too big on eating fish i cant wait to bake that up

Yeah, I think gurley was only the bellcow back because he was so darned good at everything, rushing, receiving, blocking. With these other dudes, it might be pick and choose between their relative strengths and weaknesses. Henderson might be a really good runner but below avg pass blocker and receiver, cam might be good at everything though he’s still a rookie (rookies generally have the most trouble with pass blocking) and brown might be the veteran with no weaknesses but no real strengths. Still, if the line is healthy and better this year, you don’t need a superstar back to put up numbers, CJ Anderson was chubby and out of football when the rams signed him to replace an injured gurley a couple years ago and he was putting up 100yd games every week.

I think more details of the Kenosha shooting have to be revealed, I think one cop was yelling at him to drop the knife but since they don’t have body cameras (expect that to change soon) there’s no real up close video of what was going on. He did have something in his hand when walking to the car, it was small for a knife, big for keys, and looked curved and black, not straight and shiny, but that was zoomed in cell phone video. But people were asking if they didn’t want to let him get to his car why not grab him or tackle him (there were 4 cops on scene, 3 male one female) but I could understand why you don’t want to go ‘hands on’ (patty mayo’s terminology  ) with someone with a knife, that’s a good way to get some interesting scars, lose an eye or even your life. But even with a knife in hand and not obeying orders, he wasn’t threatening the cops overtly or trying to attack them, so shooting him point blank in the back 7x seemed excessive. Even if the cop is charged he’ll probably be acquitted imo, he could say he thought the guy was reaching for a gun under the seat.

It was crazy hot the last few days, 90’s and high humidity, but should drop to the 70s this weekend thankfully but also there’ll be rain. I have no specific plans as usual but maybe just run errands like always. Is your camping trip soon?

we went camping last weekend
it was ok but a little more crowded than i was expecting
we did scout the place out and found a nice spot if we ever go back
/it was at the edge of the campgrounds with a huge boulder separating it from the neighboring campsite that would have been a much better location
i was talking to some people the other day and one person kept saying why dident the police just "take him down"
that would have just made it worse
you are totally right about how you dont want to get too close to someone armed with a knife ( or anything like that), especially if they are acting irrational
fwiw, i have a few nice knifes (fixed blade and folding)and almost all of them are blacked out
they cant let the guy leave and they dont want him to get in the car (were the kids in the car?)
the one person who could have deescalated the whole situation decided not to coopperate with the police and is now going to be paralyzed for the rest of his life
its sad all around man
only a couple more weeks until kickoff!
im hoping we get to see some football this season
so how are your bears looking so far this preseason?
i know a lot is riding on trubinski and hopefully he will take a step up and hopefully keep his job as starter
last night my neighbor gave me a bunch of those boboli pizza crust things
they were going to expire this week and he said he dident want them anymore so i told him i would tkae them
they arent bad and we have a bunch of cheeses and fresh basil so i am thinking im going to make some pizzas for lunch
hope you get to enjoy some cooler temps and your summer is going great my man!

Yeah, camping around too many people sorta of misses the point, but finding a nice secluded spot is ideal. Nice thing about socal is that you can camp almost year round? Im sure it gets cold at night during the winter but if it stays above freezing it’s bearable if not comfortable…

Yeah, knives with darker blades are common, I think military knives are commonly darker because you don’t want a shiny blade being easily seen at night. And carbon steel blades in general aren’t usually as shiny as stainless steel blades. I guess we’ll find out if he had it in hand during the encounter, video wasn’t all that conclusive. I know the cops said he admitted he had a knife, but if that admission happened at the hospital after surgery im not sure how reliable that is, he’s coming off of anesthesia and hopped up on painkillers. That’s another sketchy thing police do, interrogating someone coming out of surgery hopped up on drugs and claiming that’s a confession. The police in Chicago were poster boys for a lot of false confessions, they had a real gift for it.
He had 3 kids in his car, so his defenders were saying why would he try to get into a gunfight in front of a car full of his kids, but im not sure how aware the cops were of that fact.

Im thinking coach nagy wont name a starting QB till the week before game 1, without preseason and a lot of contact practices I think he’ll take his time to evaluate who’s better. Personally I feel whoever starts week 1, both will see playing time this season, both are injury prone so maybe a 2 QB ‘system’ will be best. It’s not ideal but when you have 2 potentially crappy QBs you have to roll with it.

Good score on those boboli crusts, pizza dough can be hard to get right. Do you have some marinara for the sauce? Spaghetti sauce or even alfredo sauce can be used in a pinch, or even just olive oil or maybe a basil pesto sauce.

on one i was totally going to go for the olive oil and basil, topped with some nice white cheeses
/i have provolone and mozzarella
i have spaghetti sauce but i also have these cans of tomatoe sauce that i can doctor up with garlic and seasonings; alfredo sounds like another great choice!
i have some green peppers ( love those thigns) and onions too so im thinking i could do a sausage and pepper pizza
plus i will let the mrs make one or two of her own so we will see what weird flavors she comes up with
i actually like camping during the fall winter months here in socal
the desert is awesome during that time of year and the local mountains are fun during fall
its an interesting qb situation you got there
i would think trubs has the inside track just because he knows the system in chicago, but if he dosent move the ball and put up W's hes out and foles gets his chance to shine
the defense might be able to keep you close in some games, but the nfc is going to be competitive this year
i think dalvin cook is looking to get paid and he is making a great case for himself
hope your weekend is off to a great start brother

Yeah, for a while I used to be into ‘white’ pizzas, they were made with olive oil and Italian seasonings for the crust, sometimes alfredo sauce, and mozz, parm and ricotta cheese for the cheese, sometimes with fresh basil leaves. If you have milk/cream and cheese on hand, you can make your own alfredo sauce. There’s even such a thing as cheeseburger pizza, with the sauce like the big mac thousand island dressing, and ground beef, diced tomatoes, cheddar cheese and sometimes diced pickles and onions. But ur right, you can pretty much put anything on a pizza crust, taco meat, fajita meat (good use for your onions and peppers!), Italian beef and giardiniera (popular around here).

Do you do a lot of hiking when you’re camping, or mostly just hanging out near the campsite? Is fishing a possibility or not really?

I think nagy said he wouldn’t reveal the week 1 starter until the day before the game, when coaches have to issue their starting lineups. So a bit of gamesmanship on his part, trying to keep the lions guessing on who’s going to start. Supposedly both mitch and nick have been splitting 1st team reps equally, but most people think nick will get the start.

Ive heard that Dalvin is falling in fantasy drafts cause of the possibility he’ll hold out to start the season, otherwise he’s a top 10 pick. I got burned on that 2 yrs ago with leveon so I think im going to stay away from him unless the value is too good to pass up. Problem for him is that his backup, Mattison, is a pretty good player too so maybe the Vikings will play hardball.

the vikings just picked up jax de y.ngakoue in a pretty team friendly deal
/min gave up a couple draft picks and ngakoue took a pay cut to play for the vikings
he said he wanted out of jax and now he gets to play for a team that has a decent shot at the playoffs again this season
i can dig why you would be less enthusiastic about picking a potential hold out, especially this year
with so many things still up in the air about covid and how the season will go down i would stick with guys who really want to play
depending on where we are there are usually a lot of things to do around the camp sites
silverwood lake is this huge lake with miles of shore line and lots of great hiking around it
i usually do a few day hikes and i like to explore the area around the camp sites but i dont really fish
/they have it at most lakes but you have to buy a day permit and a fishing licence
the mrs and boy go crazy leaving on these hours long hikes
oh snap, i forgot about ricotta cheese!
i think i have a small container of it in the fridge and that would be great on a white pizza
thats one of teh best parts about a pizza, is that you can top it however you want and it usually comes out tasting pretty good
i had a cheese burger pizza once and it was just ok
i like burgers and i like pizza but the combination just wasnt doing it for me
one weird pizza that i thought was really good was a mac and cheese pizza with bacon on it
a little more work that im willing to put in making the mac and cheese but it would be a great way to use up leftovers if you had them
we got some coupons in the mail the other day for panda express so we going there for lunch and getting a couple of their bowl for lunch
hope you are having a great weekend and all ready for the start of september!

Yeah, Vikings D should be even more fearsome with ngakoue lining up across from Danielle hunter. And the bears line might still be crappy too, ugh, feel sorry for whoever starts at QB.
Im guessing Yannick took the pay cut to, like u said, be on a good team and get the hell out of Jacksonville, but also with the possibility that the Vikings might give him a fat contract after the season. Or if not them some other team, if he puts up another good season.

U make a great point with covid being a factor that your fantasy studs might be out for a week or two if they test hot, so be prepared to have backups play a more important role than ever before. I think the nfl is making practice squads bigger too, in anticipation that a lot of replacements might be needed.

Day hikes are great, get a lot of exercise, fresh air, enjoy nature. I knew a guy who would do those crazy week long hikes with 80lb packs filled with dehydrated food and a small tent, 3 days into the wild 3 days back with 1 day food cushion. That’s a little advanced and you probably come back looking like grizzly man (dirty, week long beard growth, thinner maybe) but that’s also an option if you want to really get way out there.

I made a big pan of mac and cheese some time ago with all this leftover cheese I needed to get rid of, nobody was really eating it after a few days in the fridge so I cut it up and froze it, we actually broke out a bag once in a while especially to go with the bbq I made. So we actually ended up using it all, but it would have been convenient for a pizza topping as well.
I used to make mac n cheese with bacon or ground beef, its good with bacon, not as good with ground beef (maybe I needed to season the beef more?) so I could see how it’d make a good pizza topping. Sometimes we had a bag of bacon bits used for salad toppings and I’d use it on pizza, with enough cooking it’d get a decent crunch on it and be alright, almost like real bacon.

The woman actually got those panda coupons some time ago and we ended up using them all too, it’s always good stuff especially if pretty fresh.

yeah man! im ready for opening day

the vikings could be a legit playoff team this season if they can keep their run game on track
we used to go for the pack hiking but that was a while ago with younger knees and a more supple spine
80# sounds like your friend packed light and had his game down
the pounds add up really quickly and im lucky the mrs can carry more than her share of the load
you can do a lot with bushcraft, but some things you just need to bring
/water weighs a ton but you are best off bringing your own here
i love the shorter hikes, you know a couple hours out and back
i enjoy checking out the nature and keeping my eyes open, you know
but im getting past the days of really roughing it and tend to spend more and more time tending the fire and mixing drinks
i like a good mac and cheese and usually make a good sized pan like you said
that would be a great time to make mac and cheese pizza with the left overs!
you could een add sausage over it if you dont have bacon, its the fatty meat that really bring the heat when you sit down at the table
i just might have to make one of these bad boys for football here in a few weeks or whenever the weather cools down
the panda was dank and with the coupons we got three bowls for like 8$
i got the spicy beef thing (i forget what it was called), and the mrs got the honey chicken plus we got a free bowl of the ornage chicken
we both got ours half noodles and half veggies, but we got all fried rice for the asian chicken
/what can i say, i like my point point style friend rice

like rolandomota said, let the count down begin!

Haha, yeah RM, good reminder, less than 2 weeks out from the first game of the season. I forgot, u a raiders fan? Theyre in a tough division but they got some talent, and it’ll be interesting to see if Mariota gets some playing time this season.

Vikings made the playoffs last year Pop, actually knocked off the saints too in the playoffs before losing to the niners. They’ve been pretty good the last few years, not sure if the Yannick trade takes them over the top but theyre definitely a good team, no doubt. It’s hard to see kirk cousins taking them to the superbowl, but worse qb’s than him have won a ring so…

I was guesstimating at the 80lb weight, are you for real, could someone carry 100+ lbs on a pack hike? If youre less than 200lbs I think that’d be hella difficult but I guess as you eat and drink the weight gets less every day. Ur right, it’s the water that gets you, but I think he hiked mostly in northern cali and sometimes Yosemite (also mostly north) so maybe he could count on readily available fresh water, with purification tabs.
But Im totally down with just short day hikes and staying near the campsite and making mixed drinks. Sounds way more fun.

Normally I don’t like extra carbs on my pizza, the dough itself is enough bread, but I think ive had mac n cheese pizza once before and liked it. Like u said, you have to have some meats on there to add flavor. And come to think of it, I do like a good breadstick or cheesy breadstick as a side to pizza, so extra bread in the meal isn’t really a problem.
But mac n cheese on a pizza reminds me of what burger expert George motz says about mac n cheese burgers: it’s just unnecessary. Or what he says if you bleu cheese burgers: you don’t really like burgers, you like bleu cheese. :biggrin

I never thought about getting half rice half something else (noodles?) at panda, im going to have to try that. The half veggies (broccoli kale cabbage) sounds really healthy if somewhat boring. Maybe throw some salt or soy sauce on that to spice it up.

it depends on how long you are going to be out for, a weekend pack can be as light as like 30-40#
but if you are going for five days it would weigh more
80# is actually kind of high i guess now days with the gear being so much lighter
also, some people pride themselves on packing light
/weight goes down but cost goes up
water is heavy and we would alot about a gallon per person/ day
we have a few of those life straws but i dont really like to use those that much
yeah the vikings did well last season but i agree that cousins wasnt really the engine that drive them on their playoff run
im with that guy on burgers, a real good burger dosent need to be all dressed up
i guess im a little more freestyle with the pizza but i do appreciate a simple pie
the mac and cheese pizza would be kind of a novelty treat for me, but it sounds hella good!

Bababooey

I see, yeah, makes a lot of sense that a weekend hike is much lighter, and is probably a better idea if you have to carry your water with you. A gallon a day sounds about right, maybe even a little on the short side depending on temp. Of course you wouldn’t be trying to hike in triple digit temps. And the commercials for those life straws make them look easy to use, but in reality you probably can barely suck any water through those things and it still tastes off even afterwards.

Derwin james tore his meniscus and is getting surgery to repair it, he’ll probably be out the entire season after missing most of last season with an injury. Not sure if the chargers will give him a big contract now that he’s missed so many games with injuries, they might offer a 2 year 20M prove that you're healthy deal. Maybe they’ll give earl Thomas a shot this season while derwin is out?

Jags released leonard Fournette today after trying to trade him all offseason, they weren’t even able to get a 6th rd pick for him. They declined his 5th yr option, he was set to make 4+M this year, not that much for a starting RB but I guess they figured they were better off without him, he was starting to become a bad influence on the team (late to meetings, etc) and maybe they want to run an offense that doesn’t require a power RB to make it work. Wonder if any team will pick him up. He had some good moments as a rookie but hasn’t been in great shape the last couple years and cant outrun people to the endzone anymore.

i saw the jag released fournette after unsuccessfully trying to shop him around
there is some disagreement about his pay as well so we will see how that works out but he might be a good pick up for a team in need of a power back, especially if you can get him on a team friendly deal
that sucks about d.james! i was a big fan of his and thought he was on his way to becoming a force in the backfield
you are right about his not really earning a big payday and your two year deal sounds very good for someone in his situation
e.thomas would be a good replacement
so do you ahve any plans for the long weekend? we are expecting another heat wave to set in this weekend but im hoping we can get out for a nice hike or somehitng early in the day before the heat turns up
counting the days to kickoff!

Fournette’s pay at 4.5M or so didn’t seem like he was overpaid to me, considering the best RBs get about 4x that, but I think his skillset, power running but average receiving skills, is being phased out in the nfl. Like 3pt shooting in the NBA, even big men need to be able to shoot 3’s if they want to play a lot, power RBs in the nfl are a dying breed. Jordan howard (5M/yr) surprisingly got a good deal from the Fins but All day is only making 2.5M/yr with the former Redskins. Im thinking it was more Fournette’s attitude (late to meetings, not in great shape) that led to the jags thinking theyre better off without him: ‘addition by subtraction’.

Speaking of RB’s getting paid, Kamara and the saints have been struggling on a new deal, he was offered something like 12M/yr (what derrick henry and joe mixon got from the titans and bengals recently) but I think he wants more 15M/yr (CMC is highest, making 16M/yr). Initially the saints said they’d be willing to trade him for a 1st rounder but I think things have calmed down, he’s practicing and maybe a new deal is close.

Yeah, they showed D James covering keenan allen 1on1 in practice, amazing a 6’3” safety who could tackle derrick henry can hold up in coverage on one of the shiftiest WRs in the league. But maybe he’s too athletic for his own good, doesn’t seem like his body can hold up to the strain. He had a stress fracture in his foot last year, this year it’s the knee; hopefully he puts this early injury history behind him going forward. Guys like Stafford and frank gore were injury prone their first few years in the league and then had many years of good health afterward.

I have my fantasy draft this weekend, maybe run errands, do some work, not sure what else is on tap. Temps haven’t been too bad, ‘hot’ now is mid 80s and humid, but we get some days in the 70s. Hows the water situation out in socal, bad as usual? With all the heat you’d need some rain to make sure residents aren’t told to restrict municipal water consumption, no watering ur lawn, etc?

we had a wet spring so water levels look decent and i dont think we will declare drought conditions this year
but the fact remains we live in a desert region and we all need to conserve when we can
/now if they would only limit building, population growth is the real force behind a lot of our problems
james is a phenomenal athlete but you are right about his putting a lot of stress on his body
i dont think he had a history of injury but hes in the bigs now and im sure he is playing full out on every play
i hope he can get things under control and goes on to have a great career
so who would you be targeting as your top-5 players this season?
do you think the change in teams will effect tb12 in the draft?
outside of mahommie, who would you say could be a top pick?
i know it was last season i was calling jax my dark horse, but that team is pretty much in full on tear down mode
maybe this will be the dolphins year to make a move up
i also like az, but think they have a log road to the playoffs

Yeah, everyone wants to move to California. Lot of transplants from all over the country, not to mention other countries. Do you get a lot of retirees? Im thinking most retirees, at least from IL, like to move to Arizona or florida, cheaper living there usually. Actually I had a buddy who lived in the eastern Washington/western Idaho area, and he said a lot of people there were retirees from California. I guess their pensions go way further there than in Cali, plus less restrictive laws and stuff.

D James got hurt during a scrimmage, anyone can get hurt at any time but it’s concerning this is 2 years in a row he’s suffered a long term injury before the season started. Maybe he needs to work on his kinetic skills, how his body moves, change how he runs and stops to reduce the strain. Im sure there’s trainers who specialize in that.

I guess everybody’s top 5 is CMC, Saquon, Zeke, Kamara and Dalvin. The last 2, with their iffy contract situations, are riskier. Dalvin isn’t going to get a new contract with the Vikings capped out with ngakoue on the team, so he gets hurt again (he tore his acl his rookie yr) he might be tempted to sit out a lot of games. I think he’d have to play at least 6 games so he could be an unrestricted FA next season.
I think Lamar and Mahomes are the consensus best 2 QB’s, but generally unless youre in 2 QB leagues they don’t go till the 3rd or 4th rd. Brady has elite receiving talent with evans and godwin, gronk is back, he COULD be a top 5 QB again but not sure, his RB’s aren’t good so he might be passing a ton, his OL might be better than ok but if the hits accumulate his play might dip over time. I think he’d be most effective with the threat of a solid run game, there’s talk that they might sign Fournette.

AZ will take a leap, with Hopkins and that rookie LB, Isiah simmons. Ur right, not sure if that means the playoffs in what looks to be the best division in the league.

Jags might be ok on offense, with porn-stache and dj chark and jay gruden calling plays, their D lost all their best players though so yeah, theyre odds-on favorites to have the #1 pick in the draft. That means they’d draft trevor Lawrence from Clemson, and trade Minshew? To the bears maybe?

thanks for the concise run down man! so rb is still a premiere position in fantasy?
/especially the guys who can run and catch
talk no more, tompa bay landed fournette and i hope he is motivated to play all out this season
they are putting together a nice roster in the bay and we will see if that translates into wins
/or will they be like the eagles, chargers of old who were the best teams on paper but never really got it going on the field
interesting point about jax, if they finish low enough to get the #1 pick, would they trade away the stach? or do they run with him and deal that #1 pick to hopefully build the team in other areas?
also, the jags get the rams first rounder this season (from the j.ram trade), so they could have two decent first round picks
/i tihnk mia and the jets have also stacked up a couple first rounders for next years draft
yeah everyone wants to move to california, but once they get here the reality sets in
ca is one of the most expensive places to live as far as property goes
/a friend is paying over 3k/m rent on his fancy downtown digs; 2br secured parking
the place is shit hole unless you like living in crowded urban settings that reek of piss and filth
granted he is downtown near his job and can walk most places, but he would have to run the gauntlet of bums, bums and more bums
/did i mention the bums
