/he actually let me have the two smaller shark teeth in this photo; they are from a pre historic mako shark

i was a fan of tyrod talor back when he played for the bills, but he never really became the qb you hoped he would be
i think he is a decent for for the chargers and their weak o'line
and like you said, he dosent make stupid plays
i agree that the afc.w is going to the chiefs and the raiders could be a dark horse is carr steps up his game
i will have to look for those cards one of these days
but i think they are burried deep and it would take some work to find them
/more like one of those things you stumble across when looking for something else
the dry aging bags worked pretty well and like you said, dry aged steaks cost so they pretty much pay for themselves
what the hell were you doing with 20# of pork chops?!?
are these those super huge cuts like an inch and a half thick?
still thats a lot of chops!
/time to get out the apple sauce
maybe you can get some corn tortillas and make a bunch of al pastor tacos
thos things go pretty quick

Heh, those things are pretty cool. I wouldn’t have figured them to be megalodon shark’s teeth, they’re so fossilized. Do you have a shelf or area where you display your rock/fossil collection? So when people come over theyre like, hey what’s this?

Tyrod was a 6th rd pick so he was never expected to be a stud QB. Think only guys like brady and Minshew (maybe) really outperformed their draft status, although tony romo was undrafted. The fact that he’s started plenty of games and is a valuable backup is probably maximizing his talent. I think he’s a real hard worker, shows up at the practice facility at 5am all the time (saw the first episode of the browns hard knocks season) so u know coaches like those first one in last one out guys.

Chargers won 12 games two years ago, I could see them going 9-7 easy if things break right for them. Ekelar I think is going to be a top 10-12 back, maybe top 6-7 in a PPR league (point per reception). And Herbert was talked about as a potential #1 overall pick if he came out last year instead of this year, he’s got all the physical tools and im pretty sure he’ll play at some point this season.

Heh, pork was on sale at the club and we bought a pork loin and two packages of bone in pork chops, sat in my fridge for a week before I finally got around to cooking them all. My freezer was full too at the time so couldn’t freeze any. It was more like 18 lbs, not 20, but I filled up the egg 4x, took over an hour and a half to cook them all (I kept temp at 350 or so, they werent more than an inch thick). Al pastor is a great idea, we’ve been eating them with black beans and rice and salad as well, but corn tortillas would be great too.

dont forget to chop up some pineapple, white onion and fresh cilantro for the al pastor
its grinding stuff brother
the chargers have a lot different look now than they have in years
p.rivers has been a rock for so many years and it will be interesting to see how they do with a new qb
fwiw, i was never a fan of p.rivers but you have to respect his career
/whats your take on indy now with big daddy rivers
wasnt tyrod touted as a receiver when he was drafted
he had some good games with the bills but then kind of fell off
the chargers are looking to him to be that bridge qb and are banking on hebert to be the qb of the future
no, i dont really have a place i display my collections
i was thinking of we can get that half tooth it would be cool to put next to a mirror so it would look like the complete specimen but for the most part most of what i have is just tucked away

Yeah, love the pineapple and onions/cilantro with the al pastor, but shouldn’t I have marinated or cooked the pork with the pineapple first? But better late than never. If nothing else I have bbq sauce to add sweetness, a porkchop with bbq sauce and a side of rice or mac n cheese is good. Applesauce is a thing too I guess but not something I have on hand much.

Rivers on the colts is definitely a high upside situation. It’s the best o-line he’s had since the 00’s, TY Hilton is a great receiver when healthy (better field stretcher than keenan allen, but not as good in the shorter routes), marlon mack is a solid RB and they drafted that stud RB from Wisconsin, jonathan taylor. Rivers at his best wasn’t equal to Luck at his best, but I think the colts quick hitting short passing offense plays to his strengths. He gets in trouble when he tries to play hero ball and fit passes into windows that aren’t there but as long as reich minimizes those situations I could see rivers having a top 6 or 7 fantasy season.

The bills kicked tyrod to the curb when they drafted josh allen, I guess tyrod is the classic “good enough to win some games with, not good enough to win championships with” type of QB, ideal for grooming young stud QBs and a great backup option. Any team would be luck to have him on their roster, I know I would have preferred him to whatever we got from trubisky last year.

Yeah I guess over the years you just collect a lot of stuff (junk sometimes ) and it’s hard to find places to put them all. Seems a shame though, do you have artwork around the house? Paintings or figurines on shelves, those nice little touches that make ur home? But yeah, if you have too much of that stuff already then anything extra is just ‘clutter’. My woman and her family are hoarders, i hate it. I used to be blasé about it but now im sick of all this crap we have filling our basement and garage. And some of it is literal junk, like her dad will pick up stuff from the trash room or curb. Ugh, put it in your own place, guy!

yeah we have art work and stuff the mrs likes up around the house
mostly pics of the kids and art prints
i know what you mean about gethering a lot of stuff and runing out of space to put it all, my mom is kind of like your relatives
she lives in this huge house with rooms and rooms filled with boxes of things
the part that bothers me is that she buys all new stuff, especially health/ fitness things
/plus its not enough to buy just one set, she has to but several of the same thing
the problem is she just buys it and forgets about it, then she buys the same things again
i think the colts have a decent team and hope rivers is the piece they need to get them into the top-5 in the afc
they have a up and coming D, good ground game and like you said a top flight o'line
yeah there is a marinate and i think real al pastor is kind of layered on a spit like gyros
/a layer of meat, seasoning, then another layer of meat
but i bet your idea of adding bbq sauce would work, or like a sweet/ sour spicy thing
pan cook it all together and it should come out pretty good
man, now i want to score some tacos
hope you are having a great weekend man!

So ur mom has 5 thighmaster and 5 shakeweights sitting around her house?
I had a friend whose dad was very overweight, he has all this exercise equipment (rowing machine, ski machine, exercise bike etc) in his basement that the dude never used. And of course he’s still very heavy, despite that he has decent cardiovascular health but now that he’s older his knees and hips are giving out and probably need replacing, although doctors can be skittish about operating on someone who’s old and obese.

I think everyone accumulates a lot of crap over the years, if you have a decent sized house with basement and garage you could probably fill up a big dumpster with all the extra junk you collect over the years and decades. I have a rule of thumb (that I don’t usually live by  ) that if you haven’t used or looked at something in the last year or so it’s probably ok to give away, sell or throw out. Unless it’s something like family mementos or heirlooms that don’t take up much space, like yearbooks or photos.

Colts won 11 games 2 years ago with Luck, they signed deforest buckner from the niners to help their pass rush, they have maybe the best LB in the league with darius leonard, so ur right about their potential and their up and coming defense. They have a lot of competition in their division with Houston and Tennessee though. Jags are regarded as competing for the #1 overall pick, but they might be fun with Minshew (slinging bombs and banging moms) at QB.

I just used seasoned salt on the pork before grilling them, wish I did have some sort of al pastor like marinade for them. It actually turned out I did have pineapple too, so could have blended some up into the marinade, and places pieces of pineapple on top of the meat while grilling. But the real way to do that is to build the cone or tower like u said, I wonder if that’s possible to do on a grill? Just build a layered meat tower (on foil or some sort of heat shield) and then turn the heat to low, open it every hour or so and shave off slices to pan fry? Sort of a vertical rotisserie hack? Maybe this is something to experiment with next time I buy an unreasonable amount of pork because it’s on sale…

straight up brilliant my man!
i never thought about building my own stack of meat and throwing it on the grill
make alternating layers of meat with sauce in between and roll it all up tight in foil and then you could probably use a few skewers to really hold the meat together and help turn the thing
short of a real rotisserie, this would be awesome!
there is this german dish i get called a rouladen (sp?) that is basically a big flat steak with bacon and diced pickles rolled up inside
that would be grinding off the grill!!
no, she buys things like those copper socks or junk like that, and health supplements
fish oil tablets, calcium pills, etc...
but its jsut too much
that and just random stuff fills up most of her place and it gets me down sometimes
i did just what you described earlier this year, where i went through a closet and tossed a bunch of stuff that i had not thought of in years
i saved a few things but most of the old clothes we donated and we threw out a bunch of stuff
i think houston is a good choice in the afc.s
the titans held their own in the playoffs led by their ground game
the jags are kind of falling apart so i cant just on thier bandwagon this season; if you recall i chose them as my dark horse last year
im a big fan of the porn stach tho and like watching him play
/if he hasent trade marked the "slinging bombs and banging moms", he should!

Yeah, doing a vertical meat stack might be an interesting experiment, and u make a great point that you’re going to have to skewer it to get it to stay together, especially if youre slicing off the edges as it cooks. One thing I’d change would be to just tinfoil the bottom and leave most of the rest exposed, I think you would want it to char a little and get that smoke? But I may seriously try this sometime in the next few weeks and will certainly post pics if I do…

That rouladen thing sounds awesome, ive been to german restaurants a few times but never heard of it. German food in general isn’t that palatable imo, although you cant go wrong with brats and kraut on a bun.
I think rolling anything up in meat and cooking it is some next level cooking, especially if it involves bacon. There’s this local dish called a Francheezie, it was more popular back in 80’s maybe, but it’s basically a hot dog wrapped in bacon, deep fried, and served on a bunn and topped with cheese. The more difficult version is it’s sliced open lengthwise, fill the slice with cheese, wrap it with bacon to hold everything together and then deep fry it before putting it on a bun.

At least the stuff ur mom buys, even though a lot of it is redundant or even useless, doesn’t sound like it takes up too much space. My woman’s parents just hoard tons of useless crap, old tv’s, lots of clothes, appliances, just crap. Don’t know why they’re like that, maybe psychologically theyre afraid they’ll be destitute so hoarding all this stuff makes them feel better?

Minshew is a great meme character, I think last week he gave an interview where he said he confronted covid and covid ran away, it didn’t want any part of him, lol. I sure hope he doesn’t get covid later and get really sick, that would be… ironic?
But what’s probably a bigger threat to him is being on the worst team in the league, especially if he’s taking a lot of punishment. Then again, Fitzmagic made the dolphins semi-respectable down the stretch last year, and even led the team in rushing; he took a lot of hits for a 37 yr old QB but seemed ok and will probably start this year as well.

i think you are right about part of hoarding being a coping mechanism
like how some people are compulsive eaters, some people like to collect and gather
my mom is actually from a foreign country and was dirt poor growing up (not like usa poor, i mean third world poor),so she finds value in things most of us would toss away
my sister and i have tried to help but she is happy and i dont like to argue with her
i used to be on this kick about making complicated things at home, stuffed pork, chicken cordon bleu, things like that
now i would rather get them at a restaurant where someone else does the prep work
but the roulanden isnt that hard to make and it tastes amazing
the dolphins had a really weird season last year where they couldent even tank right and ended up wining like five games
i agree that the jags just might be the worst team this season, at least in the top (bottom)-5
kick ass this week baba' and enjoy your summer!

I can understand why people compulsively eat, I mean everyone eats, and it’s one of the great pleasures in life assuming youre eating something tasty. But people collecting literal junk and holding onto it well after it loses all value is a mystery to me; recently we had to clear out some old ass electronics my in-laws kept in the garage, old ass tape recorders and tube tvs, literally from the 70’s, maybe even the 60’s. I was just flabbergasted; like this stuff was worthless 20-30 years and here we are in 2020 and youre still storing this crap? Like, tv signals are all digital now, you couldn’t use this tv even if you wanted to (well, with a digital converter you could, but still, this thing looked like it only had Black & White picture, LOL).
But I think ur right, depending on how you grew up, it might give you a feeling of security if you hold onto stuff. I do it myself a bit, like if there’s a CHANCE that something might be useful to me (ethernet cord, random screws and nuts etc) I’ll tuck it away in a junk drawer instead of pitching it.

Yeah, cooking is hard enough to get right and clean up afterwards without having to wrap stuff within each other to make layers. That rouladen sounds pretty good though, a thin steak wrapped around bacon and onions and pickles? Yes to all of it. I might have to try that out, maybe at a german restaurant if I can find one around here (there’s a few in Wisconsin).

Jags, redskins (oops I mean the Washington Football Team), maybe the dolphins and bengals again, maybe the panthers too, all might be bottom 5 teams this year depending on how everything shakes out. I guess the Rona virus could play a part in that too, if it knocks out your QB or some of your best players, you could go from an 8-8 team to 3-13 pretty quick.

Now the major college football conferences are thinking about suspending games to the spring. So I guess we’ll finally have viable spring football, instead of also-rans like the XFL and AAF. I don’t think ur into the college game, but I might really like that, having the nfl season end and the college season begin. It always felt like too much football in the fall for me, with college and pro games every weekend, now if the seasons are separate i might actually watch more college games...

i would watch the college football if it came after the super bowl
you are totally right about how the fall has both leagues and it can be a bit much
but when the nfl season ends, i still want more football
i hope they get to play their season at some point
the rouladen is not that hard to make and comes out super tasty
i think they also use mustard in it but its diced goodness (the pickles, onions and bacon) all rolled up into a nice package
its also a nice presentation with the stuff all rolled up inside the meat
my mom has an old stereo in the garage too, but its one of those old console kind like a piece of furniture
its pretty rad and i would love to get that fixed up one of these days
/it even has a reel to reel player!
but yeah, i know what you mean about at some point you are just holding onto things that are beyond worthless
we have a camping trip coming up in a couple weeks and i cant wait to get away to the mountains
its a little early to plan for the weather but we are getting close to thunder storm season
ive never been to this spot before but it looks ok from what i can see on the internet and with the new covid restrictions there should be plenty of room around the campsites

Sadly, football is on the back burner, along with other close contact sports. Might be golf as the game allowed to play.

Thanks pop! Yeah, it's going to be a different life until we can get the virus under control. I miss going to hear music, outdoor concerts, movies, dining out.

And feel for high school and college teams unable to play with a crowded stadium yelling for their team.

Time will tell....offsetting the start of the season months later might work.

you said it brother, it seems like so much has changed with covid and this might be the new normal
i especially feel for the kids who are playing sports at the junior level; the ones who play for the love of the game and the all the intangibles it brings to their life
we still have some time to get things worked out and im keeping my fingers crossed

Indeed.

I played in the band, 6th grade through sophomore in college. Loved it!

So many activities on hold or just plain sad that pursuits are now virtual.

Resident camp....what could go wrong?? Oye! That didn't go over well a few weeks back.

And recall sports camps, too, growing up. You said it...Life as we knew it will never be the same....new normal.

Youre a braver man than I, watching wnba. Ive taken in some nba games over the last couple weeks, usually just have it on in the background. I'll start paying closer attention once the playoffs hit and the stakes rise.

I like how they pan fry the rouladen to brown it but then add liquid to braise it; im sure it makes it really tender but the end product is looking more meat-loafy. Not as appetizing as before but im sure the taste is there. Also putting the bacon inside the meat means it doesnt get crisp, does it get chewy?

Some old ass stuff might retain value as antiques if you keep them long enough. My family had one of those big wooden console things with a record player and 8 track tape deck, we threw it out years ago but i suppose someone might be nostalgic or crazy enough to buy it and refurbish it, maybe retrofit it with modern electronics like bluetooth and mp3 player...

Fuck any "sport" thats involved in the take a knee racism.

I dont understand the mindset here. BLM protests against police brutality and lack of accountability. We're on a marijuana board, still illegal in most states and federally. If you get pulled over with a lb in your trunk, you think the cops are going to be your friends? Even if you were in a legal state they might ask for all sorts of paperwork and seize it if you cant show them anything.

This is the new normal indeed. But i think school has already started in some states, lots of crowded hallways and few kids wearing masks. Hopefully nothing too bad happens.

Big 10 and Pac 12 have announced theyre moving football and all fall sports to the spring, SEC Big12 ACC are for now committed to playing this fall, with a delay. SEC is planning to start their season in late Sept, when they usually start in late august (before the nfl season starts).

Not sure how this will work for the championship, can't really have one if youre playing different seasons, but we'll see.

the wnba wasnt that bad but it isnt something i would normally watch
thats an interesting observation baba'
how will they have a championship tourney if all the teams are playing different schedules at different times of the year?
the rouladens ive had from a local german restaurant look like they were baked in an oven, kind of like you would do a roast
it was browned on the outside and cooked through
when i made it myself i browned all the fillings except the pickles first
just pan fry the chopped up bacon and onions and then mix with the chopped pickles
i actually know a guy who is into those old console stereos and has this one called a telefunken that is supposed to be worth dime
they are super cool and fun to have even if they are kind of big
kaep is done
he comes out every now and then just to keep his name in the news but i think his football career is long gone

thats cool you played an instrument well enough to be in the band AB'
/what did you play btw
the mrs insisted that the kids learn an instrument when they were younger
the girl ended up getting into cheer and actually competed at a pretty high level before quitting her senior year of high school
you cant replace the experience of being part of the group and working to master any instrument/ sport
for a lot of these kids its their outlet for expression and a way to escape the troubles in their home or community

Whenever I watch some wnba, it’s more skill not sheer athleticism. Layups not circus dunks. It’s good fundamental basketball, like how women’s tennis has longer rally’s than men’s tennis. But I cant shake the feeling that even a low level D1 men’s team would kill a WNBA team. Maybe it’s my fault, you cant really compare mens and womens sports, especially the ones that rely so much on physical attributes.

Yeah, the Clemson coach has already said that the national championship wont be tainted by the lack of a big10 or pac12 participant. Honestly, only Ohio state is a real contender for the championship. Penn state, Michigan and Wisconsin aren’t considered serious contenders, at least not this year, and a pac12 team hasn’t been a serious contender since Oregon when Mariota was QB. USC and Oregon might get there again but probably not this year. With defending champ LSU losing so much talent to the draft, it’s probably a 3 horse race between Clemson and OSU and ‘Bama again.

Browning the fillings first sounds like a good way to make rouladen, but like u said it’s a lot of work to make it. Some days I don’t mind being in the kitchen for 2-4 hours at a time, but more often Im like ‘nah’.

There was some noise about a team signing Kaepernick when the whole BLM movement blew up earlier this year, but it seems like he’s content to be an educator and influencer now. He’s probably still good enough to be a backup, he’s like tyrod, average passer, good runner, keeps turnovers low. If people like Nathan Peterman and bortles and gabbert can consistently find backup jobs in the nfl, there’s no reason keep shouldn’t be holding a clipboard somewhere.
