you are right that at some point you are on your own, but im kind of used to being in those situations
its funny because i do kind of get kind of anxious about injury, especially when it comes to the mrs
/i get especially worried about her when she is near the fire
i keep a decent aid kit on hand and have a better bag in the car, but luckily we havent had to use them
you are right that most places dont have cell phone but i still bring my tablet with some music preloaded on it, and on occasion ive brought the lap top to watch dvds if i think the weather might be bad
so it looks like nbc is replaying super bowl XX
they have a bunch of rebroadcasts of classic game for this weekend
me and the mrs are planning on a nice walk tomorrow and we may go on a mystical journey this weekned!
plus we are having home made burgers for dinner tonight! you know its going to be on
have a great weekend brother

That reminds me of a bad injury I saw caused by a campfire on that reality tv show, “Survivor”. I never really watch reality tv, but I think I saw some episodes of the first few seasons of Survivor, where they take random people to live on an island with bare necessities. This one guy was blowing on the fire or leaning over it, and got a snootful of smoke that he inhaled accidentally and it caused him to temporarily black out. Unfortunately he fell forward INTO the fire; of course he immediately woke up and PUSHED himself out of the fire with his hands, his hands went right into the red hot coals at the bottom of the fire and he had 3rd degree burns all over his hands and forearms, like the skin blackened and sloughing off like it was melted.
He was taken by helicopter to the nearest hospital and maybe he’s alright now but had to withdraw from the contest, but yeah, don’t mess with big open flames like that, cause you fall in there accidentally you will sustain some life altering injuries.

Or even just hiking you can step into a hole or trip, sprain an ankle or worse. I knew a guy who used to do guerilla grows in the boonies in IL, it was an hour hike through woods from the nearest trail, he said one time there was a lot of rain and he was walking through some swampy area and he hit his shin on some buried piece of metal sticking out of the ground, like an old rusted bike or something. He needed to go to the hospital after that, get stiches and antibiotics. Maybe if he’d been wearing pants it wouldn’t have been so bad but those are the types of accidents that can happen in the deep woods. Of course, u can get run over by a car walking in the burbs or city so risk is everywhere I guess.

Having some good medical supplies is key, do you carry things like trauma bandages? I think military and cops carry things like that, not that you’ll be treating any gunshot wounds but a bear or cougar attack is pretty serious.

Yeah, there’s a lot of replays of old games on espn and nfl network, haven’t really watched any but that might be fun to have on while puttering around the house. I think college football is re-opening their training facilities, at least in IL, so hopefully this season both pros and college get to play on time. Still not sure about the fans, I think MG3 made a crack about if fans weren’t allowed to attend the chargers games wont look any different. That’s not fair though, the stadium was packed full; full of fans for the opposing team, at least…

happening baba', hope you had a great weekend brother
i tried to catch some of the old games on tv this weekend but could not find any
the boy is getting into x-files and we did end up watching some old x files eppisodes
yeah man, fire is no joke and even if you are able to get treatment you are looking at life altering injuries
i dont carry a full on blowout kit but i have the compression wraps and clotting agent packs, dressings and stuff like that
accidents can happen anywhere but its often caused by people being inattentive
i like to ride a mountain bike and i am way more afraid of riding on the public roads than i am in the loose and sketchy stuff on the trail for sure
i read that quip m.gordon made about not missing the fans because the charges dident have any; mile high is a totally new town for him and denver is know for its crowds support
im hoping that even if they play in empty stadiums, they can still restart football
college is definitely the first step and i hope by the time the nfl camps come around they have things worked out
hope you are having a great start to your week!

Heh, I was a fan of x-files too, at least some of the early seasons. I remember one episode where some guy kidnapped mulder at gunpoint and forced him to drive him to the ocean, because he was being driven mad by the ultra low frequency transmissions that the navy uses to communicate with their submarines when theyre underwater. And another episode where some guy working at a fast food joint was actually a disguised nosferatu type monster who liked human flesh, he killed a customer at the drive thru window, and he’d pull off his contacts and fake teeth and reveal his monstrous features (fangs, totally black eyeballs). Fun stuff. The x-files movie was interesting but didn’t really resolve anything, and didn’t they make another movie or made for tv movie like 6-7 years back?

Do you carry antibiotics in your kits? I think having antibiotics on hand, in the house or whatever, is good to treat various diseases or injuries; not that you want to start playing doctor, because not all illnesses respond to antibiotics, but still it’s something good to have imo. I think fish and pet stores used to sell antibiotics for fish that were basically the same stuff humans use, just like 99% cheaper, but not sure if they do that anymore, haven’t seen it lately…

It’ll be interesting to see what MG3 can do in Denver, unfortunately for him he might not be any better than Phillip Lindsay. Lindsay’s not as big or strong as Gordon but he’s really quick, with stop and go moves and cuts that make defenders look like theyre moving in slow motion. But yknow, theyre paying him 8M/yr so theyre going to have to give him a good amount of touches, even if he’s not as efficient with them as Lindsay would be.

you make an interesting point about the denver running game and p.lindsay
i liked this kid as a rookie and think he is a feature back on his own
bringing m.gordon into the mix could add an option for the offense in the short yardage ground and pound game, but gordon has had troubles with fumbling the ball at times; last season he had 3 fumbles on 139 touches
/zeke had 3f on 301 touches; run cmc 1 fumble on 287
i really liked the first few years of the x-files and was a big fan at first
at one point it because too much drama and i kind of lost interest but there are still a lot of great episodes
/one of my favorites was called bad blood and had a cameo w/luke willson
i have the basic antibiotics and things like topical stuff and we keep a pill bag with the mrs allergy medicine, pain meds and stuff like that
its not really for long term treatment, just enough to get things stabilized until we can get to real help

Yeah, I guess lindsay’s only drawback is he’s a smaller, lighter back so the logic is that he’s not fit for short yardage or goal line duties. Matt forte, when he was on the bears, wasn’t considered fit for goal line work his first few years but over time they kept him in and he turned out pretty good at that. You don’t have to be a Jerome bettis battering ram type of RB to be good at scoring at the goal line, with offenses spread out more than ever you can find running lanes or swing passes even against stacked boxes.

The odd man out in Denver is probably Royce freeman, he was hyped coming out of college but lindsay’s performance put him on the bench, and now he’s going to be a distant third in touches behind MG3 and Lindsay.

Yeah, Gordon did not have a good year holding onto the ball, one of the reasons why the chargers let him leave in FA. That might be just a one season thing from him, I think in 2018 and ’17 he held onto the ball pretty well, no?

Im not too interested in re-makes of popular shows or movies but an X-files remake would be an interesting show. That and 3’s company and gilligan’s island. If you could find the right actors those could be hits, maybe not ones who are trying to be exactly like the originals but people who are sort of like them but have their own charisma. Im actually surprised companies haven’t tried to make remakes of those shows.

i like the way m.gordon runs and was a fan of his in his rookie year; hes a hard runner who tends to finish his runs moving forward
/he finished his first year with 6 fumbles on 184 touches
that number when down and he had a couple really good seasons, but last year he took a big step back in performance and attitude
/after the hold out, i wonder if he was just trying to fight for those last few yards to hard
we will see how he plays in denver but hopefully he will tighten his grip on the ball
i almost forgot about r.freeman! you are right that he might get pushed to the bottom of the rotation with the addition of melvin gordon
it looks like denver will have a strong ground attack
i wonder why they remake some shows and not others; i think part of it has to do with rights to the show
like dident michael jackson own the rights to the little rascles?
maybe in others they just dont thing it would fly in todays world, folks just dont like down to the earth comedy?
it looks like talent shows are a trend right now and anything with drama is in
not drama in the literary sense, but he said/she said high school crap
/i guess im officially old now because i find myself shaking my head asking wtf is wrong with these people more and more
its like life is one big pose* and all that matters is facebook likes and being woke
unfortunately, no one wants to do the heavy lifting needed to really make a difference, so nothing will change
...one day a real rain will come and wash all the scum off the streets**
have a good one brother and stay safe

*like posers
**just felt like adding some clsh to teh mix

I didn’t realize he had turnover issues his rookie year; I only remembered that he had a good amount of yards but literally zero td’s. Then he blew up the next 3 years and was 2nd in the league to Gurley in rush/rec td’s, until last year which like u said, was disappointing by his standards. U might have a good point that he might have been trying to avoid heavy hits, knowing he was on a 1 yr deal, no guaranteed money to fall back on if he gets seriously hurt. He definitely had incentive to avoid grinding out extra yards when doing so would expose him to extra hits.
Denver was able to snag jerry jeudy in the 1st rd, he was considered probably the best WR in a stacked draft class. I think they’ve tried to improve their OL as well, not sure if they’ve done enough but if everything goes well drew lock wont have many excuses if he sucks.

Yeah, I remember hearing MJ bought a lot of rights, didn’t he also buy the beatles song rights? Maybe those turned out to be good investments, although seems sketch that someone with multiple accusations of inappropriate behavior with kids would try to do a remake of a show with a lot of child actors. Not that he ever tried to produce a remake, but if he did could you imagine him at casting calls? I mean, he probably wasn’t a child molester, but still…

Yeah, not too many good scripted shows anymore, last 20 years reality tv has kind of taken over a lot of airtime, and I know what you mean about kids nowadays. Supposedly the #1 job young people want is to be a social media ‘influencer’, like logan paul or a Kardashian. No more wanting to be an astronaut or firefighter, etc, they all want to be superficial d-bags living a fake life, with no discernible skills or worth to society other than having money and nice things. It’s a nice gig if you can get it, problem is everyone who’s decent looking and knows how to use a smartphone is trying to be an ‘influencer’, to their own career detriment.

the jury is still out on g.bolles; the big ol'man denver drafted in the first round a few years back but i they have done a lot to upgrade on offence
with j.jeudy opposite c.sutton you have two big receivers on the field
a lot comes down to how lock plays under center
i guess faking an fronting are valid career choices now?
i wonder what the life span of a social influencer is? im sure it can be that long and the truth is outside of whatever small subset they cater too they are probably unknown for the most part
i tihnk you are right about mj owning the rights to a lot of beatles songs, i think the same goes for elvis songs too?
including his own music, there are a lot of hits on that playlist

Yknow, i thought it's confirmed that garett bolles is not their answer at left tackle? He's led the league in holding penalties since he was drafted and the broncos have declined his 5th yr option. He was a good story before the draft, i think he's hearing impaired and therefore talks 'funny' and was bullied as a kid for it, but all those holding penalties (significantly more than the 2nd place guy) makes you wonder if he's really fit for his position. That extra 10 yds can really kill drives, and you only have so many offensive possessions every game, wasting even one every game is significant. Maybe if he moves to guard he'll have more help and less space around him and wont need to grab so much.

Lock showed some flashes, and he's more mobile than flacco was, so maybe he can do some good things even without a good OL, we'll see. He only started the last month or so of the season so this year he'll be getting 1st team reps from the jump, maybe elway will have finally drafted a decent QB for once.

It's hard work to be a successful influencer, they're constantly filming and editing and communicating with their fans and sponsors. The problem is when everyone with a few thousand fans tries to make it their full time job, 99.9% of those arent going to make it even if theyre grinding. That patty mayo guy has seemed to latch onto a niche and has built up a good subscriber base, so he's doing well at least.

Michael jackson owns the beatles songs too? Yeah, looks like he's made some good investments, at least in copyrights. I know otherwise he's a notoriously flagrant spender, i think 20/20 once did a segment on him and he went into some vegas showroom and bought 1M dollars worth of art and other junk, like bronze statues and crap like that. Just extravagant shopping trips, it's true, no matter how much money you have you can definitely spend yourself into the poor house, eventually...

i think i saw that 20/20, he spent like you or i would if we walked into target
/isnt that the one where he climbed a tree during the interview?
i think patty mayo will soon be exposed and then what? i talked to my friend who turned me on to him and after i told him what you said, he did some looking of his own
he was really disappointed after binge watching so many episodes and basically said f' patty mayo
maybe he can remake himself and just do his show as an act, or maybe people will be over his games and just move on to the next thing
you are right about boles having problems getting beat and holding
maybe a move to guard would do him well, at least hes shielded from the line judges view and might not get called on some of those holds
got any plans for the weekend? we might be making some candy this weekend; plus i have some new hash i made
i usually flatten it out into pancakes and smoke it like that, then i started rolling it into little balls and stacking them up
now im flattening the hash and rolling that into cylinders
i want to find my favorite way to smoke it and i have much work left to do

Ha, yeah, that’s a great analogy, he spent 50k on stuff like you or I would spend $5 on some little thing at target. Reminds me of the other Michael, Michael Jordan, who’s biggest vice (other than being an a-hole to his teammates sometimes) seemed to be gambling. David stern, the commissioner of the NBA when Jordan was playing, said the amts he gambled were shocking (tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars every day) but for him that’s like a regular person gambling $10 or $100. Hes in a different financial stratosphere so you cant compare him to regular people.
Yeah, he did climb a tree at his neverland ranch, and I think he admitted to Barbara WaWa (walters) that he still had sleepovers with kids and let them sleep in his bed. D’oh! I think the local prosecutor started investigating him after that again.

Ah man, I didn’t want to spoil the patty mayo show for u guys, fwiw it seemed entertaining and maybe that’s the point? But yeah, for me it’s like pro wrestling, when I found out as a kid it wasn’t ‘real’ I didn’t really watch as much afterwards. But still, it could be entertaining if you don’t take it too seriously, pro wrestlers can be funny or sarcastic or heels even if the actual fighting is choreographed.

U make a good point about how interior lineman are more shielded from ref views and possibly wont get penalized as much. But I think Bolle will play LT this season like before, he actually grades out as an average blocker other than the penalties so even if he doesn’t resign with the broncos theres a decent chance another team picks him up and maybe moves him inside.

That’s a good problem to have, finding new ways to smoke all that hash. So you usually pile it on top of bud and smoke it? Are there any good ways to just smoke straight hash? It’s a little bit hard since it liquifies as it burns, which is why you put it on top of bud so it doesn’t just drain away. You ever google ‘hot knife hits’? I tried that back in the day, heat up a steel knife tip red hot, then press a ball of hash onto it with another knife tip and inhale the resulting smoke with a straw or tube. Unfortunately smoking straight hash seems to use the same principles that smoking harder drugs like meth/crack require, something metal or glass that wont let the hash liquify and drain away. I spent way too much money on something called a sublimator years ago for smoking hash and oil. I used it for about a year, it worked well enough but was kind of a ripoff for what it did now that I think about it…

how does a sublimator work?
/i understand sublimation but how did this machine transform the weed/ hash?
ive hot knifed before, i used to be kind of popular and a friend was all into it
/had a fancy tube he would use to draw in the smoke and everything
ill smoke straight hash over a screen sometimes but like you said, a lot will seep away
/even a small pinch of bud helps to sop up the juices
i was thinking of getting a hash pipe the other day
when i was younger i had this pipe with a super shallow bowl and i was told it was a hash pipe
ive heard stories of jordan and his gambling
i hear he liked to gamble on golf especially, like play skins for like $100 a hole and stuff like that
i think you are right about patty mayo and enjoying it for entertainment alone
what did they call that in wrestling, kayfabee or somethign like that
/ a girl i knew growing up was all into the fake wrasslin'; her whole family was
i think patty mayo needs a disclaimer or something thoe, just to let people know its all an act
boles is better than the next guy on the depth chart for the broncos im sure but holding excessive penalties are a sign of him getting beat
i know holding happens to some extent on every play but for someone to draw so many flags means he is consistently losing the battle with the man he is supposed to be blocking

The sublimator (they have a website) is basically just a metal piece attached to an electric heater that you fit into the stem of your bong, it replaces the bowl and you dab your oil or hash onto the metal and inhale and there’s holes in the metal piece that allows you to draw in the smoke. It’s not anything more special than that, I think they might advertise that it increases the smoke you get and makes you higher, not sure if that’s scientifically true though. Before, I was using things like titanium nails that you’d have to heat up with a small butane torch for a minute, get it red hot, then dab the hash onto it, so this all in one heater/bowl package was more convenient I guess. I bought it when this company first started doing business, I think now they have more refined products and cheaper too.

Im thinking a hookah would work alright for hash, don’t they put the flavored tobacco on top of coals/flammable pucks to light them? That would work for hash easy. The hookah itself doesnt seem like it'd be cheap and it might be overkill unless youre in a group though...

Pro wrasslin’ has its roots in carnie culture, so there’s this whole secret ‘language’ they use to communicate. When hulk hogan’s son was jailed for vehicular homicide (he was driving a sports car and crashed and his buddy died who was in the passenger seat) hulk would visit him and they’d use secret carnie language to talk about stuff they didn’t want the guards to hear.

Yeah, it’s often said that you could call holding on damn near every play, but garrett bolles has been getting called for holding so often his 3 years in the league that it’s not a phase or trend, this is pretty much who he is, and if he cant block people without holding then he needs to switch positions or he’ll be out of the league.

I think a prototype full face shield has been leaked already, basically just those clear or tinted visors but extended all the way down to the bottom of the face guard. Looks like it will fog up something fierce when you’re huffing and puffing, but maybe smearing some rain-x on the inside will help?

spit on it
thats how you keep your face mask from foggy up when in the water; something in the saliva makes it so it wont fog up/maybe a slight amount of mucous
/mucous will also keep you from freezing
but enough dinner conversation
dude, im fascinated by carne / side show culture and that type of americana
the people, the art work and the life style just has some weird place in early america
/in some ways it holds everything that makes america good and bad all in one
i know they have a language all their own and this makes me interested in learning a few words
so we are getting take out chineese food for lunch today!
/speaking of strange languages, those people talk funny!
i cant wait and im going to be grinding on some crispy noodles and whatever else we get later today
i have a small hookah and me and the mrs used to love it
it only has one hose but its still a hose pipe style toker
i think ive seen a sublimator type bowl ot something close
a friend is all into dabs and he has an electric bowl just like you describe
/do you ever break it out now days?

Sheee-iiiitt, I wish I had that bong and sublimator combo again. Unfortunately the woman got ahold of that years ago and that isht is probably in a landfill somewhere :yoinks: That was a Roor bong too i got from germany, that was hella expensive as well.
Yeah, im sure you could get some type of electric heated bowl for hash for way cheaper than what the sublimator people are charging, although I think their system now is much cheaper than when I bought it. But yeah, I once bought a ceramic soldering iron and removed the metal tip to sort of do the same thing on a regular bowl – if you only use small amounts the hash will liquify and stick to the hot ceramic tip and vaporize/burn all the way. Having to deal with a hot soldering iron is a bit tricky but if you have a stand for it it’s much easier.

Yeah, the spitting on the inside of your goggles supposedly works in a pinch, im thinking the nfl has resources to go more high tech, whether there’s a special coating inside to prevent fogging up or the equipment guys wipe rain-x liquid on it before each game or even during games. We’ll see how it works, I guess college teams will start practice first so they’ll be on the forefront of the PPE movement for football.

When I was in my early 20’s a bunch of my buddies went off to join the Renaissance Faire circuit, they’d be in Arizona in the winter and then other states, including Michigan, during the summer. They basically lived in tents in a campground next to the Faire circuit and lived like dirty hippies, I remember they’d talk about getting their own porta-potty like it was some big luxury. They didn’t have cool jobs like knights or lords, they’d work the food and concession stands at the Faire, and they’d have to talk in fake Olde English accents like they were back in medieval days. I guess that’s one version of the carny life?

U going back to that one Chinese restaurant, with the Mexican chow mein? It’s that good huh? Well, when you find a good Chinese place (or any place really) with good quality and good prices, why try anywhere else? The only time I think I got food poisoning was some Chinese takeout place in the city, soon as I walked in (I was the only customer, not a great sign) it smelled a little like ammonia, like they were disinfecting something, the general’s chicken I had tasted alright but the next day I got so sick, had to leave work and puked for the first time in like 10 years. It was a 24hr bug and im not certain it was the Chinese food but still, made me stay away from sketch places like that.

no, that is a different place
thats a spot in another town that we go to for fish tacos
/cheap fish tacos
this is a much better chineese food place kind of like a sit down resturant, but we get ours to go
/ a friend said its ny style chineese food
its good food and the prices are decent especially for take out plus they have this crispy style chow mein dish that is my favorite
you are right that the nfl will now be spitting on tier face shields
its good college will work out some of the bugs on the ppe and i hope they come up with something that works for everyone
i think its a fair move to protect players but not inhibit the game
the biggest thing i think will be temperature checks; maybe before each game?
/what about if mahommy tests hot before a big game?
we are definitely looking at a new normal
that sounds like a wild time for your friends, camping out and being all mid evil
if they worked for the fair, im sure there were parts where it was like...work
but that would support their lifestyle and the get to hang out after they get off im sure
/plus all the mead and wenches, yeah !

Ah, fish tacos. Nothing better than a soft tortilla wrapped around a piece of crispy battered fish (or grilled is good too), with some nice slaw and dressing on top. The seafood must be killer in socal; with overnight shipping we get good fish in the Midwest too but I do remember the fish on the west coast fondly.

I had to look up ny style Chinese food, is it basically a more authentic Chinese food? Not so Americanized? Weve got some real deal restaurants in chicago’s chinatown, it’s good stuff but some dishes take getting used to, can be pretty spicy or just strange (shell on shrimp, chicken feet, etc).

Im surprised you haven’t tried making that crispy chow mein dish at home, seems like it would be pretty simple so long as you got the chow mein noodles and the crispy noodles. Ive got a cheap steel wok at home, don’t often use it but once a year or so ill break it out and pretend im a short order cook at a Chinese restaurant. "Sauce on side? Fukka u!"

Yeah, the NBA is starting up next month but they’ve basically said that if one player tests positive for covid that they’ll shut the whole thing down again. I imagine football will be the same, so there’s almost no margin for error. Hopefully with quarantining and PPE it wont be an issue.
Heh, there was like one female in that group I knew that joined the Ren Faire, and she was the girlfriend of one of the guys. The other dudes I don’t think got laid much there, I mean maybe they did but they weren’t exactly lady killers. I think they just smoked a shit ton of weed during that time, and maybe a good amount of psychedelics too.

im sure the ren faire is not for everyone
not only are you camped out and living on the road, but you need to keep in character and live in olden ways
/im sure things like cell phones and lap tops are kind of discouraged
but like people who tour the country following their favorite bands, im sure its about the lifestyle
the hardest part of the dish is getting the right noodles for the crispy chow mein
i might have to get those chow mein noodles they sell at the store, like the chun king style ones
i tried getting a bag of noodles from the asian market but hey werent the same
who dosent like a good fish taco?
they are super simple to make and ive used regular fish sticks i got at costco, with cole slaw and a creme fresh sauce and it came out pretty decent
this tiem we got a duck dish and a singapore style noodles, plus my crispy noodles dish
the duck was actaully really good and they give you like a quarter duck with some noodles, fresh veggie toppings and a soup broth
/you mix it all together to make a duck soup but i could see just eating the brother and then having the noodles and duck
a wok is a fun way to cook thinks and its great for stir fry and things like that
ive heard that too about if one player tests positive the nfl will pull the plug on the season
i tihnk we are going to have a second wave of covid and this one will hit closer to home for most people
so we made some candies last night and i definitely have the fuzzy head still going on
i think the cure is more candy
the mrs is working from home and she is drinking coffee
i haevnt had coffee for months and might make a cup today
i have some bits and crumbs from the candy that i can stir into the brew for an extra kick
