Yeah, i'd definitely give the GoT book series a go if youve got the time. The series is called A Song of Ice and Fire (asoiaf) and Game of Thrones was the title of the first book. And I have to correct myself, the next book will be the 6th book, not the 7th book. Altogether the whole series is supposed to be 7 books, so just one more after the next one comes out, but the story and plot and characters keep growing, i wouldnt be surprised if he needs 8 books to finish it out. Which will be sometime in 2030 i believe.

Newton isn't shy about using his wheels, for sure. Unlike some 'mobile' qb's, he WANTS to run, he says 'u have to let the lion roar' or something like that. Basically if yards are available and nobody's open, take what u can get right?

He was basically the panther's goal line back when healthy, which is why i didnt draft mccaffrey last year even with the #2 pick (went with zeke and kamara in my 2 leagues). 'Member when u and i were amazed at how big and ripped his arms looked during minicamp last offseason? Should have drafted him, but i was afraid a healthy cam would bogart some of his goal line TDs. Ah well. He just signed a contract extension with carolina btw, he'll be paid 16M/yr when it kicks in (still has 2 yrs left on his rookie contract), so he'll be the highest paid RB in the league (zeke was at 15Myr). In 2 yrs he may be on the downslide tho, considering how RBs age...

I keep thinking the smart money is on the chargers drafting herbert at #6, but jordan love from utah is getting some mahomes-like comparisons. Maybe they can trade down with someone, get extra picks, and still draft love in the mid first round? Would the chargers be smart enough to do that? I dont think the chargers draft poorly, just that the front office can seem kind of cheap sometimes.

And hey, let's have some corona related jokes at the bears expense to lighten the mood:

run-cmc looks great adn we will see how long he can play keep putting up those kind of numbers
/so how does that work with his contract? what happens if he gets hurt next season?
the chargers would be smart to bring on c.newton and use that pick to draft on the o'line or trade down
i think you re rigth about the drafting hebert @#6 and d.james comes back enxt year so the d should be a little better
hope your week is off to a great start and you are enjoying every bite brother!

The guaranteed #’s on mccaffrey’s extension haven’t been released yet, but supposedly well over half of the 64M is guaranteed. Zeke Elliott signed a 6yr 90M (15M/yr) contract with 50 of the 90M guaranteed, so maybe at least 40-50M of mccaffrey’s is guaranteed? He could tear up his knee tomorrow, never be the same again but still bank that guaranteed money.

His usage is worrying, I think you’ve mentioned before RBs who get over 370 touches in a season almost always start going downhill after that. Maybe he’s one of the few exceptions (Adrian Peterson and ray rice were two of the others) but realistically at most u can expect his decline to be gradual.

It’d be ironic if tyrod taylor ended up training with his eventual replacement as chargers QB if the bolts do sign cam. But he’s always been known as a class act and willing to mentor players, although I think cam is the same age as him.
Yeah, if the chargers sign cam and use the #6 pick on an O-lineman or trade down for picks that could be a really solid draft for them. Derwin is a low key DPOY candidate if he’s healthy all season. Ill have to pick him up in my league that starts individual defenders, he racks up tackles like a MLB and has 8 sack, 8 int potential.

i think t'rod and cam might have some history and there was a pic of them practicing together recently
i could totally see them playing together and lifting the bolts to mediocre status
if the chargers had a solid qb i see them as a 10 win team, get right at rb and you could see a couple more wins
but the cap on their season is kc; where we stand now i think kc wins the west and everyone else is fighting for the scraps
but maybe the afc is a little easier this year w/o tb* in ne**, sg***
************************
/i always say it but could this be the year the afc.w produces three play off teams?
you know how i feel about derwin james and i think hes one of those hybrid lb/safety types that police a defense
so we got a costco roasted chickens the other day and i made stuffing and peas to go with it; if i was thinking i would have gotten some cranberry sauce
im going to have left overs tonight and make chicken salad with the rest tomorrow

for some reason im using asterisks!

Interesting note on hbo shows....I loved the sopranos when it aired. Thought it was incredible. Upon rewatching however, thought it was boring as fuck. Very strange, as I've rewatched movies and series before, and enjoyed them.

Deadwood is one of the greatest serial television stories I've ever seen. Even w that wackass 3rd season where it took a left turn into....whatever drug the writer was taking. Also interesting that when Deadwood was submitted to hbo, it was a story in Rome, centered around Nero, or one of the Roman emperors...had to be rewritten because hbo had already approved:.....
My favorite TV serial of all time....ROME. Hands down my favorite.

Yeah, if cam signed with the chargers and still had lingering health issues, then tyrod could step right in and still manage that offense to 25+pts. Ekeler’s a stud, maybe the best receiving back in the game now, Hunter Henry and keenan allen are fairly elite performers at their positions, and maybe mike Williams makes another leap. He had 10 td’s his 2nd year, his 3rd yr (last season) he had only 2 td’s but did have 1000yds receiving. He’s someone else who the team has to decide whether to pick up his 5th yr option or not, I expect them to pick it up. Dropping down to 5 wins last year from 12 wins in 2018 was a bit of a shock, but like u said, theyre a club that’s mediocre more often than not.

Ur right about the AFC, im wondering how the AFC east is going to pan out with the brady-less Patriots. Bills look like the best team in the division, right? Jets if darnold is healthy all season are a tough matchup for even good teams, and Miami, if they kill it in the draft, could win more games than you'd think even starting a bunch of rookies.

Man Medfinder, every day we’re hearing more sobering news about the corona virus. Hasn’t it mutated like 5 times already? It’ll be like the flu pandemics of a hundred years ago, when a million or more people around the world would die. We’re all doomed, aren’t we?

Yeah Subrob, the soprano’s seemed to be way more drama and acting than action and suspense (although im sure more than a few people get whacked), ive tuned into an episode here or there but im not much into mafia movies, ive never even seen any of the godfather movies all the way through (!). Sacrilege I know, but so long as I pretend only Godfather I and II exists, and ignore III completely, then I should be good to watch them whenever I get around to it.

Deadwood looks interesting, I do like a good western now and then, and I had some coworkers really into Rome when that aired back in ’07. But I think if I were to watch any series now, it’d have to be Band of Brothers. I’ve seen pieces of a few episodes, and I do love a good WWII movie…

i will have to check out the deadwood series
it sounds like fun and i like westerns; the ones we saw did have drug use in them
/it was a chineese guy who imported opium
the story lines looked solid and the production was top notch
ill be sure to check out that other show rome too if i can

lik e you said baba', a.eckler is a stud rb and has a lot of potential
you are right about his hands but i wonder if he can shoulder the load of a feature back
he should get a lot more touches this year with m.gordon gone and has the potential to be a 1k/1k rb
the chargers have a solid receiver group across the board and a good defense too
the bills should be the top team in the afc.e especially if j.allen can continue to develop
miami is a wild card but i think they have a long road ahead of them form where they are at now but we will see how they look after the draft
ive been marinating some carne assada beef and am about to get down in the kitchen here soon
it got up into the mid-70s here today and it feels nice to be in a t shirt

What western was this with opium smuggling? It wasn’t deadwood right? That was about a funeral home in an Old West town, I think…

That’s a hot take, thinking AE could be a 1k/1k RB. Only mccaffrey, roger craig and marshall faulk have ever done it. He’ll get 1k yds receiving (maybe pretty easily too) but it’s the 1k rushing he’ll struggle to get. He’s 5’10”, 200lbs, so physically he’s a decent size, not that much smaller than mccaffrey, so he could do it but not sure the chargers want him to touch the ball that much.

Josh allen has stefon diggs to throw to now, we’ll see if he can become a more effective downfield passer. For all his arm strength, he was one of the worst passers for throws over 30 yds in the league.

Miami might take 4-5 yrs to rebuild but if they hit homeruns in the next 2 drafts, they could be a playoff team much sooner than that. Most especially if they get a franchise QB, whether that’s Tua or Herbert, they need that guy that they haven’t sniffed since marino. Jay fiedler was a game manager, pennington had a great first year with the Fins but a shoulder problems ruined the rest of his career, and tannehill seemed decent, not great but decent to good, but again injuries ruined his last few years with the team and he made a great comeback with the titans, showing u why the Fins liked him so much. At his best, he’s a really good athlete and a pretty good thrower, sort of like what trubisky aspires to be.

How’d that carne asada turn out? I haven’t had skirt steak in ages, it is a nice piece of meat, get that nice char on it, maybe that wood flavor if you grilled it.

the carne asada turned out rally good
i cubed up a bunch of ny strip and used that instead of skirt steak
we got a chicken from costco the other day and i made chicken salad with the left overs
im going to boil the bones and fatty parts alter today to make a broth
i think miami need a few parts to fit together and agree that they are probably a two-three year project
allen is a little wild with his throws but i like his size and think he should be a better passer this season
i think the bills have a good balance on both sides of the ball and hopefully the defense can take it to the next level
eckler only had something like 150 touches last season, (actually 132) so i could see him racking up more yards on the ground being the bolts feature back
/this should include more goal line attempts and we will see if he can handle the work load of a starter
im pretty sure it was deadwood we were watching
the show wasnt about the chineese guy but he knew one of the main players
he could only speak a few words of english
he was ripped off by "cocksuckers" and the main guy was going to go out and "find cocksuckers" and get his dope back
/haha i found a clip

good stuff man!

Does the broth you make out of the old chicken parts, does that have to be strained of the fatty bits or that can be used straight?

Eckler and Malcolm brown made a good backfield combo, brown coming in to spell eckler for a drive or two every half. Eckler had 132 rushes last year, but also 92 catches for almost a thousand yds. So altogether a little over 200 touches, nothing approaching the 350+ a bell cow back would have. They gave him a raise to about 6M/yr, which is about half of what top RBs make, so I think they expect to keep him around 200 touches a year, and give their other RBs the other 100-200 touches during the season.

Deadwood is definitely on my ‘must-watch’ list, but last night I tuned into The Last Dance, the documentary on the year the bulls won their 6th and final NBA title. Pretty interesting, especially to a fan of the team growing up, but it will only take up my Sunday evenings for the next 4 weeks (10 episodes, 2 air each Sunday for 5 straight weeks), so im going to start on Band of Brothers this week, I think…

i usually strain my broth when its hot so its just the liquid and some of the fatty juices
but it depends on what you are going to do with it i guess
/like if you were making a hearty soup or chicken and dumplings type thing i would want a thicker liquid
im going to boil some noodles and have like a ramen/ noodle soup thing going on for lunch
/the mrs has a dental apt this morning so im not too sure how shes going to feel after
i think brown is def going to be a part of the run game but this could be ecklers year to shine

speaking of shine, its 4/20 brother! and i hope you are having a good one
even if you arent high its the spirit of the day
/if you are high, blow the smoke that way

I usually just use bouillon cubes or powder if I need to make a soup or a recipe requires broth, regularly making ur own stock is something few people do, im thinking, but it’s pretty easy and zero cost if you were just going to throw out the bones anyway. And it does make a noticeable difference in the flavor profile of the dish, just that added umami/savory background to the more pronounced flavors, it’s well worth the effort imo.

I recently went to the dentist after a filling came off. A piece of it broke off months ago but like a douchebag I thought I could wait, I don’t like going to the dentist either. But then a bigger chunk came off and I got it drilled out and a new filling in place, later I think I’ll need a crown but for now I can eat again without being too gingerly. Ur right tho I couldn’t feel my mouth for hours after, that was not conducive to eating lol.

U think eckler is going to be a top 10 fantasy back? Who would your top 10 be? Fantasy rankings are usually pretty equal to real life rankings, except in PPR (1 point per reception) leagues where high volume pass catchers like eckler at RB or Jarvis landry are more valuable.
My top 15 would be: McCaffrey, Saquon, Zeke, Derrick Henry, Aaron Jones, Dalvin Cook, Alvin Kamara, Nick Chubb, James Conner, Fournette, Melvin Gordon (broncos), David johnson (Texans), leveon bell (jets), chris carson (seahawks), Kenyan drake (cardinals). Im leaving out guys like mark ingram and gurley too.

Ekeler finished as the #7 overall RB in fantasy last year, his production took a dip when MG3 came back and took most of the touches, a guy even dropped him in one of my leagues last year. I picked him up but he didn’t do much the next couple weeks and I dropped him cause I needed the roster spot, someone snatched him up and he had a couple 100yd receiving games the last half of the season. Without MG3 there to siphon off goal-line touches, I guess ekeler is in prime position to get more td’s; he had only 3 the last half of the season, not bad but 5-6 or even 8+ would be nice.

I did get high, Pop, thx for asking; had some thc hard candies, think jolly ranchers, i have some 30mg and 15mg ones, a 30mg would get me nice and high and sleepy, dont need more than 1 of those a day.

happening baba' thats rad that you were able to celebrate and i hope you had a fun time
the hard candies are something i think we might try making next, i told you haw we have been making these caramels
/mrsChickies friend$ love them
i might have one every now and then but they are kind of strong, especially if you arent used to eating weed
/its weird, i will smoke like a steam engine all day long but dont really like to eat weed
like you said, we were just goign to toss the bones and stuff out so its not a problem to throw it into some water and let it boil
you can also throw in scrap veggie parts if you have any (when i made the chicken salad i saved parts of the onion and celery to add to the broth)
thats a great question about the rb scene, give me a little time to mull that one over please, but i like your list
kind of waiting until after the draft to really make any calls but i think zeke, c'mcC, and kimara will still be top-5
lets not forget about the kid soon ot be in las vegas, j.jacobs (he has top-10~15 potential)
so i was doing some cleaning arounf the house the other day and came across a box with the old x-box and a copy of madden in it!
man, its been so long since i jumped on the stix, but it was fun
started a new franchise with the rams
hope you are having a great day and ready for a good weekend
kick ass brother!

I think I’d actually prefer the caramels to the hard candies, it’d be easier to just bite off a piece of a caramel if I didn’t want to eat the whole thing. Course I can just take something heavy and whack this bag of hard candies a couple times to break them up.
I know what u mean the edible high being different and stronger than a smoking high, it seems to get the parts of your brain in different ways than smoking it would. Maybe the cannabinoids that aren’t destroyed by the heat from smoking are the difference?

Ah, u can add veggie scraps to the soup stock? Even better. Usually on those cooking shows they’re using cleaned up onions, celery and carrots to make stock, but maybe theyre also blending up those veggies after cooking and using them in the final dish.

Josh Jacobs is going to be a sleeper pick for me, a RB who’s picked outside the top 10 RBs but has top 5 potential.

Is that the xbox 360 u found? I think I have one around, a PS3 as well. I was wondering if I should fire them up and play some old school games on them, I lean more towards RPG’s and FPS’s but I do like the sports games as well. Maybe we should get a clique of icmag old school vid gamers together…

Draft is tonight, 1st round at least, so neither the rams or the bears will be picking, unless they trade up. But it will be interesting to see how the top 5 shake out after Burrow goes #1 to Cincy, does Washington stay pat at #2 with chase young, do they take Tua or trade down with a team that wants him and needs to jump ahead of Miami (#5) to get him? Same with the lions at #3. All these storylines we’ve been talking about will get resolved one way or another tonite.

morning baba'! hope your day is off to a great start
has spring gotten started in your area? its been a cold start ot eh year here, but this week its been really nice
i opened up all the windows in the house this morning to let in the cool morning air and wll close them up before noon, i hear its supposed to get into the 80 later today
cant wait for the draft and i will be following it online
i hear they have selected a small group of fans to join the live broadcast, with everyone teleconferencing in from their homes
like you said, lots of questions about who will do what and i we will get our answers later today
this is the original xbox man! and the game has ray lewis on the cover (madden 05')
i have the xbox 360 and have a newer copy of madden but there is just something about this old game that i really like
i was also into gaming and liked the rpg type games and fps as well
one of my favorites was far cry that kind of blended open world play with some rpg elements
i also had fable 1&2 which were really fun; less skills shooting but a little more depth as far as the games characters and customization goes
what games did you like? im sure there are a few people on ic_mag that also game
one of the things i dident like about the soft candies was they werent good to carry around
even if you just one in your pocket it would get a little sticky sometimes
the hard candies were harder wearing and it was easy to just bite them in half
/i had some in my pack for over a month and they kept like new
if you are going to strain your brother i like to use the scrap parts from veggies
if im making like a stew or hearty soup then i will use the good parts, but in the broth i just wanted the flavor
hope you have a great day brother

Wow. Mayock once again w a couple surprises!

Quick note on FF picks:
Josh Jacobs should be your #1 rb pick in draft. Yes, I'm a homer. BUT, as a homer I am voracious. Last season, even before the collapse, raiders were either behind or ahead by one score or less. Had to throw to a depleted wideout roster missing AB and with Williams unable to put weight on foot.
This year, Williams will be healthy again, renfro figured out how to play in the NFL, ruggs faster than tyreek so the lid is off opposing defense, still got the #1 up and coming tight end in the league(and about 7 more! Haha), badass fullback, and a badass offensive line. The defense improved by about 60-70%.
The raiders are going to be getting leads earlier this year with a defense that won't be shredded literally everytime they are on field. All that points to Josh Jacobs getting 1800-2000 yds and a metric buttload of rushing TDs. Mark it.

Man, it’s actually snowed twice in the past 10 days, nothing that really accumulated but still, mid-april and we’re still seeing snow? That’s unusual even for the upper Midwest. But overall the winter was pretty mild, with little snowfall, so I cant complain too much.

I do the exact same thing, try to keep that cold morning air inside and then close everything up as the afternoon warms up. Ive actually kept our utility bills very reasonable by doing this and keeping our thermostat low during the winter.
The only RPG style games I played were D&D ones like Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 1 and 2, they had a co-op mode that was fun to play with my buddy. It was really more like that old school game Gauntlet, remember that one? “Warrior needs more food!”
I think vid-gaming has taken over tv/movies in popularity with young to young-ish folks, if you took a poll I’d guess that at least 20% of people under 45 would say that video gaming is their favorite recreational activity (other choices being watching tv/movies, reading, listening to music, or outdoor activities).
That’s a great point that if youre going to throw out the solids anyway, u can use the scrap parts of veggies to make a stock, just like u use the scrap parts of meat in stock. Im going to attempt another brisket here soon, will post results, hopefully it turns out not sucky…

Subrob, that’s a real homer take that Jacobs is going to be RB1 next year in fantasy, but yknow, I cant say he doesn’t have a legitimate chance to do that.
And u do make good points that the WR corps should be much improved this year, although saying Ruggs is faster than tyreek is one hot take. But I looked, and ur right, ruggs ran a 4.27 at the combine, whereas tyreek ran a 4.28 and 4.29 at his pro day (he wasn’t invited to the combine) so ruggs, at least in shorts, is faster. Whether he’ll be as good as tyreek is a whole ‘nother story tho, tyreek can track a ball in the air as well as anyone ive seen, and for a sub 6ft receiver can make contested catches while highpointing the ball also.
Did Jacobs get screwed out of the OROY? He had the award in hand midway through the season, but fracturing his shoulder and missing the last few games cost him, kyler murray stepped up in the 2nd half and aj brown (titans wr) had some huge games in the last month. Murray ended up winning the award, with a 20-12 td-int ratio, not great but he had over 4200yds (including rushing yds) and 4 rush tds. I would actually make kyler a sleeper pick at qb, maybe get him after the 6th rd in most drafts.

If Jacobs is healthy all season and catches 5 passes a game, I’d say he’s a lock for 2000 scrimmage yds. How much is a metric buttload of td’s? Is it more than 15? Because 20 or more is gurley/Tomlinson territory.
