yeah this covid shit is crazy and has pretty much shut down sports
football got a pass because its the off season but they im hearing they still might consider amending the season
/i guess the pres and all the major sports commissioners are to meet on that today
i think if the bears had at least a quality qb they could win more games
who knows what foles brings but maybe trubs will be on the bench next season
/i hope he does get pissed that they are bringing in a new qb
we will see how the rams run next season and i think they have alot of room to improve
the problem is, even if the 9rs regress, they are still one of the best teams in the nfc
i can still see seattle being competitive and im not going to sleep on az
the nfc is going to be a tough road
thats a great idea about asking for the sauce on the side!
they usually drench the stuff on plus you can keep any leftovers for later dipping
/those chicken tenders!
hope your weekend is off to a great start

Yeah, the NBA season might be canceled, theyve already canceled mens and womens college basketball. Baseball might have a half season if that. I hope football isnt affected too much but who knows?

Ideally i would like mitch to start the season, he's running and gunning but all his scrambling subjects him to one hit too many and he gets hurt and big dick nick steps in and leads the team on a deep playoff run. Foles had a great first year as a starter with the eagles (27-2 td-int ratio) but he's been at his best since then coming in as a backup. Dont know why that is but thats where his strengths lie.

Ur right, NFC west might be a crazy strong division, with niners/rams/hawks all looking like double digit win teams. I do think the niners will take a step back, they lost deforest buckner (but got a 1st rd pick for him) so that reduces the strength of their D-line, which maybe means theyll just be great instead of historically great. Im not sure u can depend on another healthy season for nick bosa, it was a pleasant surprise he played 19 games (inc playoffs) after missing most of the preseason but odds are he'll strain or sprain something and miss some time.

it seems to take most qbs a few years to settle into the nfl
who know, maybe this is the year things click for trubs and his running and gunning pays off?
foles plays really well off the bench and is a great back up, but this should be a make or break year for trubs; the ball is in his hands
trubinski is in the last year of his rookie contract and it will be interesting to see what chi does going forward
/if he does well i think chi might resign him but at least you have foles to fall back on
right now i would rank the nfc.w: 9ers, sea, rams, cards
but we will see how az plays with k.murray and a second year in the system
so my mom scored some praqns the other day and im going to fire up the grill here soon
i dont even like shrimp and these are big fat f'ers with their heads on and all
hope you are having a great weekend buddy

Tiger prawns are always good, it's like poor man's lobster, just huge pieces of shellfish meat. Do you do any cocktail sauce or clarified butter on the side?

Kyler murray is a low key value pick at QB for fantasy football next year, u think he'll blow up his 2nd year in the league like mahomes and jackson did? Maybe a dark horse MVP candidate, especially with deandre hopkins on the outside, larry fitz in the slot?

But yeah, if kyler blows up and the D gets better, maybe 'Zona finishes above .500 or much better. Not sure if there's ever been a division with four 10-win teams, but nfc west has an outside chance of that.

Da bears have to decide whether to pick up mitch's 5th yr (2021 season) option by next month; it would guarantee him 25M for 2021 if they do. Im thinking they'll decline it, even if he plays better next season i dont think he'll be good enough to sign a long term extension for more than that. Im guessing he'll be considered an average starter at best after next season, so he can expect a contract somewhere around the 20M/yr range, maybe less. Unless he blows up to be a top 5 QB like dak's numbers last season, then the bears will have to pony up 30M+/yr, but that's one of them good problems.

ouch, i dident know it would cost that much to keep trubinski on
its a good year to be in the market for a qb, but i wonder if the bears made their move [icking up foles
maybe they could still do something in the draft, but otherwise its lame duckbinski and the the donger running the show; hopefully one of them steps up and balls out this season
/are you hearing anything about who/what position the bears would like to draft this year?
the prawns came out super good and i would agree with your call of bargain lobster
i took a taste and it was good
we had this peanut sauce with them last night and my mom and mrs rolled them up in this rice paper wrapper with noodles, plus ate the plain
/mrsChickey even eats the shell and all! savage
i grilled some hot dogs
yeah hot dogs

Neither Mitch or Foles are likely long-term, winning QBs for the bears, so im thinking they might spend a mid round pick on a guy to develop. Maybe the guy from U of Washington, Eason, who used to be georgia's starter till fromm supplanted him. Or some other similar 3rd or 4th rd guy, maybe you can find a gem like russell or dak, u never know. Even though the bears have a terrible history with qb's, even a broken clock is right twice a day...

The bears have one 2nd rd pick, but no 1st, 3rd or 4th rounders (so there goes my optimism about selecting a franchise qb in the 3rd/4th rd). Im thinking pace will trade their 2nd rd for multiple lower rd picks (so there's hope yet for 3rd or 4th rd picks!) just to get more bites at the apple, unless some guy falls to them in the 2nd they really like or think is too good a value to pass up. We'll see, im not too impressed with ryan pace's drafting but maybe he just hit a bad stretch and he can get luckier this year...

Hey, dont knock a good dog. Sure it's kind of garbage meat but it's fatty, salty and savory so hits all the right notes in your palate. No it's not something u want to eat too often but hot dogs are as american as apple pie, everyone eats them unless youre some type of soy boy.

Recently went to a local burger/dog joint that's well known for their food, will post up pics later. It was good, definitely better than similar places, still i felt i could make food just as good, but i liked it and if i lived closer would definitely go there more often.

oh wow, the place served dogs and burgers? at least around here its hard to find a good hot dog place
there is a place called chicago on a bun that is pretty good but kind of pricey
/its easy to spend $10 on a hot dog,chips
other than that i tihnk its just weinersnitzel
but its easy to make a good dog at home and i thin a big part is how you top it
/onions and mustard are a good place to start
cant wait to hear your run down on what you got and how it was
i thought the bears had two picks in the second round? #43 & 50, plus dident the league give you guys a fourth round compensatory pick as well
the second round picks could be worth something depending on whos left on the board but i also like the idea of trade down and get more value

I find most of the hot dog places ‘round here serve burgers also, unless theyre too small to have a grill or flattop in the kitchen.
$10 on a dog and chips is way too expensive, when u can get a huge all-beef dog and drink at Costco for $1.50. Costco might not be a good comparison, they openly admit they don’t make money on the 1.50 dog&drink, it’s just an incentive to lure customers in.

Y’know, ur absolutely right, the bears have a second 2nd rd pick, from the raiders in the mack trade, and a 4th rd compensatory pick for losing Adrian amos in FA last year. So that’s something. Maybe we’ll get some future multiple time all-pro’s with that 2nd and 4th rounder, or maybe they’ll barely play and be released after a few years. More likely the latter, but hope springs eternal, amiright?

So this place is called Paradise Pup, they’ve been on shows like diners drive ins and dives and Chicago’s Best (local cable show), theyre known for their burgers. So got a cheeseburger (with merkts cheddar spread, a Wisconsin product that’s like a very sharp meltable cheese spread, like Velveeta but stronger tasting and not as smooth unless very melted), a patty melt (burger with swiss on rye bread), fries, italian beef and chocolate banana shake. All told came to $22, most expensive thing was the IB at less than $7.
Food was pretty good but sad to say nothing that really stood out, nothing that I didn’t think I could make better at home. But nevertheless everything was very solid.

Standard toppings on burgers were tomatoes, pickles, onions (grilled or raw, we got grilled) ketchup mayo.

One really good thing was these burgers were cooked to a very nice medium, perfect amount of pink in the middle. That was standard, didn’t have to ask for it and they didn’t ask how we’d like them cooked.
Patties looked machine pressed, not hand packed, but they weren’t too chewy or tough. Sometimes these places with the machine pressed patties, if theyre cooked too well the meat gets too tough/chewy, but these were nice and tender and also seasoned nicely – some of these mom and pop joints don’t season their patties at all, seems like, and I have a hard time tasting the meat without some S&P.

Fries were standard frozen crinkle cut, some foodies really prefer hand cut fries, I like deep fried potatoes either way, fresh cut, frozen, shoe string, waffle, etc. So long as I have a side of ketchup im good with any type of fry.

Italian beef was a little small imo but it was less than $7 so cant expect too much I guess; meat was good, tender and flavorful especially with the hot peppers. I don’t think they make their IB meat in house, they probably buy it pre made from Vienna beef or a similar local provider, which is just as good as making it themselves usually.

oh man baba'! that looks grindin
you scored a nice variety of sandwiches and it all looks pretty good; especially considering the price
/its gotten too easy to drop a twenty on just a couple burgers and fries now days
im with you brother and love fried potatoes
i dont mind the pre cut frozen fries at all; as long as they are cooked long enough fries are hard to mess up
both of those burgers look pretty solid and i like that you can get one on different bread
/its easy to just change up toppings
that italian beef looks bomb for $7, nice bread and like you said some decent looking meat
is the meat they use thin cut?
/when we did it at home we just hand shredded it like you would a pulled pork, but ive never really had one in the wild so i dont know if that is the way they are usually served
man, now we have to get to the store and get some fixings because i totally have to make these soon
i like the sound of this place
sure, you can make all these things at home but it sounds like the price is fair and the food sure looks pretty good

Oh yeah, a lot of these fast casual places charge dine-in restaurant prices or close to it. Last time I had Five Guys I had a double bacon cheeseburger, large fries and a soda and it came to almost $20. Even Mcdonald’s isn’t as cheap as it used to be, a QB w/ cheese meal runs close to $10 after tax.

Ive been making my own fresh cut fries at home lately, the benefit is that the fries are much ‘meatier’ than a store bought fry. But 12-15 mins in a air fryer with store bought fries is a very convenient way to make some delicious crispy chips, as the euros would say.

Italian beef is traditionally sliced thin, yes. It’s cooked to rare or medium rare in the oven in a pan full of juice, then allowed to cool before sliced thin on a deli slicer. The sliced meat is then added back to the pan of juices and kept hot but not boiling. For serving you just use tongs to pick up the meat and place into the roll, with the option to dip the roll into the juice afterwards – just dip each end of the roll if you want it ‘dipped’, if you want it ‘wet’ you’d dip the entire roll into the juice.

I googled Italian beef san diego and came up with a list on Yelp, top ten include Chicago Bros Pizzeria, Chicago Fire Grill, Lefty’s Chicago Pizzeria, Chicago Pizza Company. So sounds like you can get your stuffed pizza fix on too in addition to an Italian beef sammich. Or maybe you and I can trade: In&Out double double animal style for a large beef dipped with sweet peppers? If only teleportation machines existed...

So the Rams traded Brandin Cooks to the Texans for a 2nd rd pick. You’ve been expecting a Cooks trade for a while and I think a 2nd rounder in a receiver heavy draft is a very good return, especially considering his contract (avg 12M/yr over next 4 yrs) and his history of concussions, which really limited his numbers last season.

I guess this means the Rams are going to go to 2 WR, 2 TE sets fulltime, over their 3 WR 1 TE sets? This gets Tyler Higbee and Gerald Everett on the field more, Higbee was putting up gronk-like numbers the last month of the season and having both on the field helps with both pass and run blocking. Also, one of the big issues with the O last year was defenses were running more 6-1 formations, 6 down linemen and 1 LB, which is what teams were using towards the end of their super bowl year. That formation disrupted their zone running attack, and without gurley breaking off chunk yardage the O stalled out too often. I guess running more 2 TE sets helps counter the 6-1 D?

i think the cooks trade was a big step in the right direction
the 2nd rnd pick was nice but i dont tihkn the rams needed to sweeten the deal with a 4rth rndr in the future (like way off future)
you are probably right about them moving towards a more conventional offense this season hopefully it helps goff with a little more protection and you could always roll one of those te's out to get into a more west coast style offense if you saw the mismatch
/why dident they just trade gurely/cooks to the txns for nuks?

man the italian beef sounds grinding!
thin sliced beef so there is no where for the flavor to hide plus soaking in juices!
i wish i had a meat slicer, but that was one of those kitchen gadgets i decided against
i like to hand cut my fries too, and often will use one of those apple corer things to make wedge fries
in n out for italian beef?; you know i would pull the trigger on that trade any day of the week brother!
/how do you like your onions, fresh of grilled:)

Lately ive been on a grilled/sautéed onion kick, especially when theyre nice and caramelized and soft, it’s like a sweet onion jelly. But i like raw onions too, the crunchy texture and sweet bite they add to a dish is good too.
Years ago I bought a cheap meat slicer for like $90, it was like a child’s toy compared to the ones they have at the deli or butcher but it worked alright, I only used it a couple times and since then ive moved a few times so im sure it’s either lost or thrown out by now, lol.
Italian beef started off as a poor person’s dish, take the cheapest cut of meat u can find and braise it (cook it in water) to make it tender and make sammiches out of it. Even now the ideal cut of meat is a top sirloin or top round which u can find for less than $3/lb at sams, and less than $4/lb at grocery stores. It would be super tough if you made steaks out of it since theres very little marbling, but since it’s sliced thin and cooked/served in its juices it’s more tender than it should be.

The rams gave the Texans a 2022 4th rounder, I think if you assume a pick loses a round of value for every year it’s delayed, then it’s like giving them a 6th rounder this year. That’s fairly marginal trade value, notwithstanding the GOAT (brady) was a 6th rounder.

Higbee’s a matchup problem anywhere he lines up, but ur right, u try to cover him with an LB unless he’s an elite coverage LB ur going to have problems. And u make a great point, BoB of the Texans could have waited and gotten gurley for free and kept nuk and still done the Cooks trade if they really wanted another WR (they still have stills and fuller and signed randall cobb from the cowboys earlier this offseason). BoB is why almost every head coach that takes over GM duties, even great HC’s like andy reid, pretty much suck as GM’s cause they don’t think and plan for anything beyond next season.

morning baba', hope your weekend is off to a great start
looks like the rain has stopped here and today is starting off super nice and sunny
its going to get cold tonight but its probably the last of the rain
/i havent watch the news or seen a weather forecast, so i could be way off
looking forward to going for a nice night walk with the mrs but we will most likely be missing our hike to the cross for easter sunday
i think the cross is technically on private property but the mrs said we should not go because of covid and how everything is closed down
i like the way you discribe the grilled onions
you are so right, when done well they are like sweet onion jelly
i alternate between grilled and fresh myself; it totally changes the taste of the burger
good take about how houston could have gotten gurley for free and still kept nuks; then traded for cooks if thats what they really wanted
/nuk, stills with fuller and cooks playing slot/ four wide?
i hear d.wats is not too happy about losing his #1 and i cant blame him
so i started watching movies again
the other night i watched that guy ritchie film called snatch
it was fun to zone out and just eat popped corn for a while
hope you and the family are all doing well and you have a great weekend

What’s cold in san diego, 50’s? I think SD is known for having the best weather in the continental US.
All the churches are doing online services so u might want to catch some of the big cali ones, harvest with greg laurie I think is a popular one, Prez Trump likes him too.
If you like grilled or sautéed onions on your burgers, check out the Oklahoma onion burger, where they slice white onions super thin and then lay a handful on top of a raw burger on the flattop, let it cook then flip the whole shebang so the onions cook on metal with the meat on top, the juices flowing down and sautéing them.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oToWFTWAd6E
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNEbDhpnyGs
The trick is slicing them super thin, u can use a mandolin slicer if you don’t have a deli slicer. And the spatula they use is basically a brick trowel that people use for masonry work, to slap cement in between bricks, so they can smush the meat down on the grill with a simple slap instead of having to press it down hard with both hands.

That’s the thing with the Texans WR corps now, it’s all composed of fast outside X-type receivers, stills fuller cooks, only cobb has a lot of experience working out of the slot I think. And the reason they traded Hopkins was because he wanted a raise, and they need to free up cap space to resign tunsil and Watson, but who knows if Watson wants to re-sign with all these questionable moves he’s making? Maybe the bears can sign him if he leaves after next year, I don’t think theyre committed long term to either trubs or foles, assuming they don’t pick up mitch’s 5th yr option.

The woman has been watching Ozark lately, a Netflix series. Ive seen bits and pieces of Snatch but haven’t watched the whole thing but my buddy said it was good, even if most of guy ritchie’s movies since have been dog turds. Im thinking of trying to watch the Soprano’s or Deadwood, HBO is offering HBO-GO for free during the covid crisis, have u seen either series?

i think a friend of mine is into deadwood
we go to his plce for dinners and he has all the fancy tv channels
/me and the mrs just have an antenna and the xbox for tv (netfilx/amazon stuff like that)
he used to be into this western show and it was really good
i hear thats where all the good shows are at now, the premium channels and netflix
/im about to fire up mad max, fury road when i have lunch
not a fan of cooks out of the slot, he dosent go over the middle well and he dosent really create a mismatch against good nickle coverage
cobb is getting old and i wonder about durability but you are right that he can still run down the sidelines
if the bears could land d.wats that would be a huge step up
whats the news on cam newton lately?
yeah i cant really complain about the weather here in socal
here by the coast it dosent get that bad, (lows in the 50s at night) but its that damp cold right now; the kind gets you when you try and get out of bed at night

With HD over the air channels, u don’t really need cable, an antenna (outdoor if you are far from the broadcast towers) and some sort of streaming device (xbox, PS, apple tv, roku etc) are all u need.

Ive heard some people say deadwood is a top 10 show of all time, along with the wire, which I really liked. And the sopranos might be the best of all time, so that’s saying something. Im going to have to watch them sometime, although im not so into mob shows or movies, but if theyre good then the story is interesting to just about everyone.

Fury road was a great movie, id like to watch a sequel but I guess one isn’t coming? The last mad max movie before that was 20 years before so might be a while before we see another movie from that director.

I don’t think the Texans would ever let Watson go but BoB is such a nut u never know who he’ll trade next if he doesn’t like them.

Cam I think is training in the socal area, on Instagram he was throwing with tyrod, the chargers QB. I think a lot of nfl players (and nba) like to rent houses in la during their offseasons, train together, enjoy the beaches and weather and food and nightlife, yknow, same reason so many people live in ur area Pop. Tourists, amirite?

He’s looking good though, throwing 40 yd passes without any discomfort, so the shoulder and foot look alright. Who knows how long he’ll hold up when the hitting starts, plus I don’t know how many starting jobs are available. The ones available might plan on starting rookie qb’s next year (Miami, Cincinnati). it would be tough to list a top-10 tv shows
im sure my favorites are a lot different from a lot of folks
never got into game of thrones etc; the closest would be that american horror show but i quite watching that because it was kind of freaking me out
/my top ten would have shows like gilligans island and how its made type stuff
football would be my #1 thing to watch on tv
im not really into movies but ive been spending a lot of time around the house lately so ive gottne out some old dvds; they are fun
beats trumps/gavin newsoms daily covid talks while enjoying lunch
yeah waht happened to the next mad max. plus i heard they were going to spin off charleize therons furriossa'
i think cam is still a better qb than 1/3 of the leagues starters
maybe he will stick around socal for a while and him and t'rod could be room mates
throw in bosa or derwin james and now we got threes comapny
i would watch that
hope your day is off to a great starrt and you have a happy easter my friend

If u like horror I think there was a horror movie version of Fantasy Island that came out earlier this year or late last year, probably out on dvd or streaming now.
Do u know how to download movies and shows off bittorrent? You can google how to do that, but just fyi you’ll probably need some type of vpn (I have one installed on my router, there are free ones available online also) so u don’t get copyright infringement notices from your internet service provider.
GoT was the only show ive watched religiously the past few years but ive also read the books. Supposedly the 7th book, Winds of Winter, will come out sometime this year; the 6th one came out in 2011 when GoT first aired on HBO. Strange that during the entire 8 year run of the show not one new book came out, but I guess the author got really busy with convention and media appearances with the popularity of the show.

Gilligan’s island was my jam back in the day too! Who doesn’t like that show, the characters, Gilligan as the goofy sweetheart, the captain as the straight man, the professor as the brains, the rich snooty old couple. And of course the ladies, which were you, a ginger or maryann fan? I liked both, but I’d have to go maryann. The whole girl next door type, and you’d figure if u ever got off that island she’d be easier to please than ginger, no private jets or designer handbags for her.
Theyre remaking a lot of shows and movies lately, if anything they should remake gilligans island, except if they royally screw it up, that would be sacrilege.

I think ur spot on, cam newton is right around that #10-12 mark as far as QBs are ranked. Maybe the QBs above him would be: Mahomes, Wilson, Rodgers, Jackson, Brees, matt ryan, wentz, goff, brady, Roethlisberger (assuming he’s healthy), Stafford (ditto)? Anyone ive missed? Trubisky maybe? Haha, who am I kidding, he’s bottom 10 if not bottom 5.

there is something about the classics of tv that never get old
i was more of a maryanne type too
not really a big fan of remakes and i think its way too easy to mess them up
/tries to think of a decent reboot but cant
im not a big fan of horrow but the mrs and girl sure are
i heard got was a book series, thats something i would be more into
i read a lot and it would be fun to get into a series so the story goes on
i agree that cam would be around the teens as far as starting qbs go; but that assumes that he is healthy and on his game
i agree with all the names you mentioned plus would add watson, jimmyG and maybe a few more i cant think of right now; but newton has wheels and i thnk that makes him valuable to teams with a weak o'line
/hearing more rumors about him landing with the chargers but they still have taylor and a top pick in this years draft
it will be interesting to watch this years draft and see who goes where
hope your week is off to a great start and you can start to feel the spring in the air
