it seems like the spanos family is content to run the franchise into the ground and then bolt for LA
know what, f'em
ive sat through decades of shitty football and this is how they repay our town?

i tihnk they are making crazy demands on purpose ( downtown stadium, taxes pay most of the costs)
they dont care about san diego
now they are playing games with joey bosa?
(pick one, the contract offset or sign bonus deferment and get him on the field)

as far as the fantasy sites, wasnt there a story about how the employees were the ones raking it in?
using insider information to set their line ups and basically gaming the system?
those winners are strictly stunt, loss leaders too get us to ante up

and the crazyiest part, i can wait for the season to begin!

I believe employees have been banned from playing since the beginning of last season, but regardless, lineups lock the second the first game on the ticket starts. so it's not like they're setting a lineup 5 min before the closing of a contest after looking at all the stats for the day; the only advantage that they really had was their ability to copy rosters from people that are constantly in the cash and see ownership percentages of players. at the end of the day none of that means the sleeper pick thats only 1% owned will have the monster game that the person building the roster is hoping for. sure, it's possible; daily fantasy is all about exploiting opportunities on a budget...you can't win em all...

one of the biggest things that sucks is profootballfocus doesn't provide the individual stats the way they used to...it made it easy to find the worst defenders than pick on em lol

aren't most situations rigged in the favor of the rich already? the fact that dfs is no different really shouldn't be a huge surprise. I have not won buku bucks on fan duel, but I generally can play all season off of like $50 I put in my account at the beginning of the season, I'll go up and down. 50-50 leagues are the slow play more likely way to increase your bankroll over the course of the season.

That's a good point, that the sophisticated people with big bankrolls have an advantage in nearly every field, not just DFS.

the niner d-

I am impressed at this point to be completely honest. our line with armstead buckner and dial is no joke and when aaron lynch's suspension is over the starting olb's are solid enough, not von miller solid but only aldon could have done that.

I hope kaep wins the starting job, ponder looked a lot better than gabbert.

rb depth behind hyde is not so good, I'd be taking a flyer on karlos williams that the bills just dropped for that reason alone.

te's look servicable, and vance mc donald hasn't had the dropsies so far this preseason.

I know I may be setting myself up for disappointment, but I'm halfway expecting a wildcard berth with a real shot at making some serious noise.

Kaepernick is apparently refusing to stand during the national anthem as his way of protesting this country's treatment of minorities, specifically treatment of minorities at the hands of police.
So yeah, whatever dude.
Maybe the niners are going to regret paying him 12M this season; he didn't look so good in his first pre season game action, then again he's coming off multiple surgeries and only recently started throwing again, I think.

Don't worry, most of us are setting ourselves up for disappointment. Let the games begin!

Some niners fans want them to tank this year so they'll get a top draft pick in 2017, which is one way of rebuilding a team.
I think jeff driskel, their 6th rd pick, a QB out of La Tech (and Florida before that) looks pretty good for a low draft pick. Good size and speed, seems pretty accurate with the ball, seems to make pretty good decisions in the pocket. Of course he's going up against 2nd and 3rd string defenses in the pre season, but he could be the niners qb of the future. I mean, brady was a 6th rd pick, romo was undrafted, even russell wilson fell to the 3rd rd. You dont have to spend a 1st or 2nd round pick to get a franchise qb...

I think the one Draftkings employee who won 350K in a fanduel tournament, it was determined that he had set his lineup before accidentally publishing ownership %'s of players; which information was available from other sources, and such info is supposedly not that important to real DFS pro's.
Still, the fact that a DFS employee is playing on competitor sites and raking in buku bucks seems unfair, like a lottery employee winning other lotteries. Btw, wasn't there some lottery employee who fixed the games and had his friends or family collect winning tickets. He was from Iowa or something, and this all came out a couple years ago?
Smdh, can't trust anyone anymore.

Spoken like a true football fan. Ive had to grind through some bad decisions by the bears franchise the last 10-20 years, yet i still love to watch football. Maybe not the Bears so much, but other teams still excite me. Looking forward to how the season shakes out; not expecting my team to do much, but if some draft picks develop and get better, that will give me hope for the future...

if he is using insider information to set his lineups then its cheating

i dont play ff, but if its like in any other game of skill, any slight advantage can mean the dif between winning and loosing
if he knows something you dont that gives them the edge
when its information that the gen public does not even have access to, that makes it even more fishy

im wiht you bababooey, nothing is going to change the fact i really like football, always have and always will

the point I think that is being missed is that the rosters are locked in as soon as the games start, and there is absolutely NO way to predict what happens on the field.

realizing opportunity is done pre-game, and there is nothing stopping the guy with huge upside on a tiny pricetage with minimum ownership from getting a concussion the first snap of the game.

I think people just get salty because of the fact that a handful of guys are typically on the leaderboards of most contests; those guys play DFS professionally and probably spend 40+ hrs a week crunching numbers and reviewing algorithms in order to gain whatever pre-game advantages they can, I'm fine with that....it pays to put in work. I'm not opposed to doing the same, especially considering the potentially lucrative returns.

as far as insider info, I don't really get how that's really possible other than someone familiar with a teams gameplan and knows their intention of exploiting a particular matchup- BUT there really isnt much stopping a non-insider person from crunching all the numbers and reaching the same conclusions based on readily available stats( like I said PFF, and picking on bad defenders)....and like I said at the end of the day none of those numbers mean squat when said player goes out and gets a concussion on the first snap of the game after fantasy rosters have been locked.

sore losers with big ego's and bad bankroll management is what I'd chalk it up as.

So basically what Ethan Haskell was doing is no different than a company insider using non public info to make money off trading in stock; not his own company's 'stock', but close enough.
There was a link in that article to a cheating scandal in online poker sites; i think the % of people who actually make $ is the same, like 5% or less of online poker players actually make a profit.
Ive never played online poker but know some people who do, they're legitimately good players but i dont think they actually make $ playing online. This could be why.

So yeah, cheaters everywhere, and the average joe has to suck it.

In other news, Tony Romo left the game against the 'Hawks after getting pounced on by cliff avril on the 3rd play of the game. Apparently he got squished a bit, and immediately reached for his back, but he was able to walk it off and is fine, pending some more tests.
So yeah, Romo is literally Mr. Glass. Whoever drafts him in fantasy better pick up his backup, Dak Prescott, a rookie from Miss State (SEC!) who doesn't play like one.
I say this now and Ill probably avoid him in drafts but watch, romo plays all 16 games and puts up a 35-10 td-int line with 4K+ yards passing...

Also in that game the 'Hawks had to play their starters into the 2nd half in order to get some pts on the board with their 1st team offense. Its been a shaky preseason for russell wilson and co. but then again, it's preseason. Wilson was on fire the last half of last season, and it wouldnt surprise me if they averaged 25+ pts a game this year, he's gotten better as a passer every year. I think the offensive line has been the weak link on that offense, dont know if that's still the case but should be interesting to see...

^ this exactly

this kind of edge influences the players you choose when you set your line-ups

even if the whole thing is junk, why not post that info so everyone can see it?

its going to be interesting in seatle this year
what is a beastless offence going to look like
will they show ciara more when the seahwaks play on national tv? ( this is what i really want)
i hear pete caroll is some kind of genius!
i guess we will see how he rolls wiht it, but i kind of see the hawks' doing well

how many more knocks can romo take
i think that is the big question in dallas
even with a potential stud at running back, im hanging the cowboys success on romo and his aging arm

and whats all this about moving the raiders to vegas?
is awful hair a pre requisite for being part of the uber ritch?!?

Hey whadeez, I think we posted at almost the same time. Jinx!

I guess you seem to be the only one who's actually played DFS, and youve done ok or more than ok for yourself and dont see an issue with more sophisticated players being successful, since those guys are putting in the work. So, as with most things, there's 2 sides to every story.
Now, if you could turn your hobby into a real full time job, would that be your dream job? I guess if you're making $ doing it, but even the pro's lose money at times, which has got to be stressful. But no different than stockbrokers or hedge fund people making bets and losing, i guess...

The 'Hawks will always do well as long as their defense is still performing (4 straight years leading the league in scoring defense).
I think they'll do fine without marshawn, although he does bring a physicality to the offense that they might miss come playoff time.

I forgot about the Ray-duhs possibly moving to Vegas, which would be an interesting story. The first professional sports franchise in one of the few cities where sports gambling is legal? That would be interesting to see. First they need a stadium.
I think Mark Davis's bowl cut is his signature style; if he gets a stadium in Vegas, you might see a lot of bowl cut wigs in the stands during games.

UPDATE:

Romo suffered a 'compression fracture' in his back on the hit by cliff avril. Out 6-10 weeks.
So begins the Dak Prescott era. He's looked good so far during the preseason, and not just against 2nd and 3rd stringers; if he keeps it up during the regular season i dont see how you go back to mr. glass...

Watching some of the raiders-titans game. Im not in favor of public funding for stadiums that benefit mostly billionaires, but man, seeing the raiders play on a baseball diamond makes me think, yeah, that team could use a new stadium. You know, one without a big dirt circle in the middle...

Reading the facebook comments on espn about kaepernick sitting down during the national anthem, you see a whole lot of racial anger and resentment towards kaep's actions. Kind of interesting and disappointing at the same time.
I think it was a brave move on his part, especially for someone who's looking like a 12M a year backup QB right now. Obviously, i dont think the niners pick up his 2017 option if he doesnt play significant snaps this year, and his chances of being traded on favorable (salary) terms to him arent going to get any better if he continues to 'protest' the way he's been doing. I dont think many gm's or owners want that headache or backlash from fans, unless youre a top five qb, and he still looks like he's having issues making quick decisions in the pocket...

yeah that was a totally bad look for him and a bit out of line
not helping his reestablish himself as a top tier nfl qb

i thought about what you were saying and i hope it dosent sound like im trying to throw shade on you sir, or on FF/DFS in general
im jsut saying that with certain "insider "information these employees could hvae a huge edge over even the hardest core player

i am actually kind of interested in hearing more about these games, esp the ones that are in the lower buy in range
/i dont think the modest payouts draw in the whales (as opposed to teh million dollar contests)

in other news, chargers are falling left and right
injuries at O line and RB pos

still cant wait for sept
go football!

Since veterans dying for kaps right to sit down keeps coming up online...let me give you this veterans view on situation:
Who gives a fuck? He ain't hurting me
I believe in respecting national anthems...all of them...if I'm at a soccer game between us and Saudi and they play the Saudi anthem I will stand and be respectful(even tho they one of the shittiest nastiest countries on the globe)..or Canada or China or Timbuktu...because it is proper and polite at sporting events
But Kap should choose his form of protest better...and his words explaining it better...cuz to me he just looks stupid...stupid as fuck...
One thing THAT PISSES me the fuck off though..are the defenders who compare him to Ali or Tommy and Carlos...he didn't do anything special...he didn't make a fuck bit of difference w his protest...it is miniscule compared to what others have done to bring racism to national awareness...not even miniscule...if he had done this two years ago maybe it might have been eye opening but he just wasted any credibility he had ..
And the biggest fuck up he did was insinuating govt only discriminates against poc...now I am not one of those 'all lives' people...I will say black white blue red and pink matters...but cmon man...
AnywYs... insignificant is the word I would use for his protest...not even a blip...but this vet fully supports his right to do it

well, I'm not totally sure that many of have/will/care to read the transcripts of kaepernick's interview regarding the sit down protest. for those of you that don't just want to jump to conclusions here it is.

fwiw I fully support his silent protest, his right to do so, what it was targeted at(according to him), his defending of his actions, etc. Let's discuss this topic with a bit more context added. I support the individual troops in our military, but not always the missions they carry out. I'm thankful that our military stands in front of me and my family- that being said I don't believe kaep's protest was focused on military in any sense; it's fairly obvious badged up domestic terrorists are a much larger threat to any of us(regardless of race, although the numbers don't lie) than any group that the mainstream media likes to put the spotlight on...numbers don't lie and we are all at a much higher risk of being taken out by blues with badges than some religious extremist group funded by the same folks demonizing them, and that's not even considering our(cannabis peoples) higher than normal likeliness of coming into contact with LE

here is his side: copied/pasted from http://ninerswire.usatoday.com/2016...ick-addresses-sitting-during-national-anthem/

Editor’s note: This is a transcript from 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s media session Sunday Aug. 28, 2016 – his first public appearance since telling NFL Media why he decided to sit during the national anthem during the first three preseason games.

Colin Kaepernick: People don’t realize what’s really going on in this country. There are a lot things that are going on that are unjust. People aren’t being held accountable for. And that’s something that needs to change. That’s something that this country stands for freedom, liberty and justice for all. And it’s not happening for all right now.

Is this something that’s evolved in your mind?

CK: It’s something that I’ve seen, I’ve felt, wasn’t quite sure how to deal with originally. And it is something that’s evolved. It’s something that as I’ve gained more knowledge about, what’s gone in this country in the past, what’s going on currently. These aren’t new situations. This isn’t new ground. There are things that have gone on in this country for years and years and have never been addressed, and they need to be.

Will you continue to sit?

CK: Yes. I’ll continue to sit. . . I’m going to continue to stand with the people that are being oppressed. To me this is something that has to change. When there’s significant change and I feel like that flag represents what it’s supposed to represent, this country is representing people the way that it’s supposed to, I’ll stand.

(inaudible)

CK: There’s a lot of things that need to change. One specifically? Police brutality. There’s people being murdered unjustly and not being held accountable. People are being given paid leave for killing people. That’s not right. That’s not right by anyone’s standards.

So many people see the flag as a symbol of the military. How do you view it and what do you say to those people?

CK: I have great respect for the men and women that have fought for this country. I have family, I have friends that have gone and fought for this country. And they fight for freedom, they fight for the people, they fight for liberty and justice, for everyone. That’s not happening. People are dying in vain because this country isn’t holding their end of the bargain up, as far as giving freedom and justice, liberty to everybody. That’s something that’s not happening. I’ve seen videos, I’ve seen circumstances where men and women that have been in the military have come back and been treated unjustly by the country they have fought for, and have been murdered by the country they fought for, on our land. That’s not right.

I would think (here I go assuming) that military men and women would be upset with whats going on here as well, seeing as they put their lives on the line to defend our constitution, and what it stands for; the pledge of allegiance says "with LIBERTY and JUSTICE for ALL" I personally may be questioning what exactly I'm putting my life on the line for(wishing it was truly to protect the good people of our country, knowing that that's probably not the whole truth) our own government spits in the face of vets far more than this incident could have.

Do you personally feel oppressed?

CK: There have been situations where I feel like I’ve been ill-treated, yes. This stand wasn’t for me. This stand wasn’t because I feel like I’m being put down in any kind of way. This is because I’m seeing things happen to people that don’t have a voice, people that don’t have a platform to talk and have their voices heard, and effect change. So I’m in the position where I can do that and I’m going to do that for people that can’t.

Is this the first year that you’ve sat during the anthem?

CK: This year’s the first year that I’ve done this.

All the preseason games so far?

CK: Yes.

(inaudible)

CK: The support I’ve gotten from my teammates has been great. I think a lot of my teammates come from areas where this might be the situation. Their families might be put in this situation. It’s something that I’ve had a lot of people come up to me and say, ‘I really respect you for what you’re doing and what you’re standing for.’ So to me that’s something that I know what I’m doing was right and I know other people see what I’m doing is right, it’s something that we have to come together. We have to unite. We have to unify and make a change.

(Inaudible)

CK: It wasn’t something that I really planned as far as it blowing up. It was something that I personally decided – I just can’t stand what this represents right now. It’s not right. And the fact that it has blow up like this, I think it’s a good thing. It brings awareness. Everybody knows what’s going on and this sheds more light on it. Now, I think people are really talking about it. Having conversations about how to make change. What’s really going on this country. And we can move forward.

Are you concerned that this can be seen as a blanket indictment of law enforcement in general?

CK: There is police brutality. People of color have been targeted by police. So that’s a large part of it and they’re government officials. They are put in place by the government. So that’s something that this country has to change. There’s things we can do to hold them more accountable. Make those standards higher. You have people that practice law and are lawyers and go to school for eight years, but you can become a cop in six months and don’t have to have the same amount of training as a cosmetologist. That’s insane. Someone that’s holding a curling iron has more education and more training than people that have a gun and are going out on the street to protect us.

Do you plan to things beyond sitting during the national anthem, as far as activism?

CK: Yeah, most definitely. There are things that I have in the works right now that I’m working on to put together in the future and have come to fruition soon. Those are things that I’ll talk about as we get closer to those days.

Any concern about the time of this and the possibility if it being a distraction?

CK: No, I don’t see it being a distraction. It’s something that can unify this team. It’s something that can unify this country. If we have these real conversations that are uncomfortable for a lot of people. If we have these conversations, there’s a better understanding of where both sides are coming from. And if we reach common ground, and can understand what everybody’s going through, we can really affect change. And make sure that everyone is treated equally and has the same freedom.

Has anyone from the NFL or team asked you to tone it down? It doesn’t seem as if anyone if trying to quiet you.

CK: No. No one’s tried to quiet me and, to be honest, it’s not something I’m going to be quiet about. I’m going to speak the truth when I’m asked about it. This isn’t for look. This isn’t for publicity or anything like that. This is for people that don’t have the voice. And this is for people that are being oppressed and need to have equal opportunities to be successful. To provide for families and not live in poor circumstances.

In your mind have you been pulled over unjustly or had bad experiences?

CK: Yes, multiple times. I’ve had times where one of my roommates was moving out of the house in college and because we were the only black people in that neighborhood the cops got called and we had guns drawn on us. Came in the house, without knocking, guns drawn on my teammates and roommates. So I have experienced this. People close to me have experienced this. This isn’t something that’s a one-off case here or a one-off case there. This has become habitual. This has become a habit. So this is something that needs to be addressed.

Colin you’re the only player in the NFL taking this stand. Why do you think you’re the only one doing this?

CK: I think there’s a lot of consequences that come along with this. There’s a lot of people that don’t want to have this conversation. They’re scared they might lose their job. Or they might not get the endorsements. They might not to be treated the same way. Those are things I’m prepared to handle. Things that other people might not be ready for. It’s just a matter of where you’re at in your life. Where your mind’s at. At this point, I’ve been blessed to be able to get this far and have the privilege of being able to be in the NFL, making the kind of money I make and enjoy luxuries like that. I can’t look in the mirror and see people dying on the street that should have the same opportunities that I‘ve had. And say ‘You know what? I can live with myself.’ Because I can’t if I just watch.

Do you think you might get cut over this?

CK: I don’t know. But if I do, I know I did what’s right. And I can live with that at the end of the day.

Does this have anything to do with your relationship with the 49ers or the NFL?

CK: No, this is about the way people have been treated by this country.

How long did you talk when you addressed the team?

CK: It was conversation. They asked me to talk and just explain why I did what I did. And why I felt the way I felt. I had an open conversation with them., I told them why I felt that way and looked at things the way I do. A lot of it has to do with the history of the country and where we’re currently at. I opened it up to all my teammates. Come talk to me if you have any questions. If you want to understand what I’m thinking further, come talk to me. It shouldn’t be something that should be hidden. These conversations need to happen and can bring everybody closer.

Where there people that disagreed?

CK: There were people that said I want to understand further. Let’s talk. So I’ve had those conversations and will continue to have them with my teammates. It’s something that – the knowledge of what’s happened in this country and what’s currently happening, I think everybody needs to know. And when you have the knowledge of those things you can make an educated decision on what you really feel and what you really stand for.

(inaudible)

CK: I don’t understand how it’s the wrong way. To me, this is a freedom that we’re allowed in this country. And going back to the military, it’s a freedom that men and woman that have fought for this country have given me this opportunity by contributions they have made. So I don’t see it as going about it the wrong way. This is something that has to be said, it has to be brought to the forefront of everyone’s attention, and when that’s done, I think people can realize what the situation and then really effect change.

Are your teammates talking about football or this?

CK: No, we’re focused on football while we’re in meetings, while we’re on the field. That’s what our focus is. But in our free time, we have conversations about this. That’s not something that we should be ashamed about or shy away from. We talked about football, we handled our business there but there’s also a social responsibility that we have to be educated on these things and talk about these things.

Have you considered getting teammates to join your stance?

CK: This isn’t something I’m going to ask other people to put their necks out for what I’m doing. If they agree with me and feel strongly about it then by all means I hope they stand with me. But I’m not going to go and try to recruit people and be like ‘Hey, come do this with me’ because I know the consequences that come with that and they need to make that decision for themselves.

Have you reached out to anyone to seek guidance before this?

CK: This is a conversation I’ve had with a lot of people a lot of times over a long period of time so it wasn’t something that I planned on having a conversation about at a particular time. It just so happened it was the other night that people realized it and talked about it.

Any concern that focus is on you and not the issues?

CK: I do think that the talk has been more about me, more about I know a lot of people’s initial reactions thought it was bashing the military, which it wasn’t. That wasn’t my intention at all. I think now that we have those things cleared up, we can get to the root of what I was saying and really address those issues.

Do you know of any other players who feel the same but not ready to step forward publicly?

CK: Yeah, I know there’s other players that feel the same way. I’ve had other players reach out to me. Once again, it’s not something I’m going to ask them to put their necks out. I know the consequences that come along with my decision and if they feel strongly and want to stand with me, then I hope they do. If it’s something they’re not ready for then that’s what the conversations are for and they can make that decision when they’re ready or if they’re ready.

Do you fear for your safety on the road?

CK: Not really too concerned about that. At the end of the day, if something happens, that’s only proving my point.

Has Dr. Harry Edwards been helpful?

CK: Once again, it wasn’t something I consulted anybody on. It was a conversation I had when someone asked me about it. Dr. Edwards is a good friend, he’s someone I talk to a lot and run things by and have a lot of conversations with and we have a lot of similar views.

Does the election year have anything to do with timing?

CK: It wasn’t a timing thing, it wasn’t something that was planned. But I think the two presidential candidates that we currently have also represent the issues that we have in this country right now.

Do you want to expand on that?

CK: You have Hillary who has called black teens or black kids super predators, you have Donald Trump who’s openly racist. We have a presidential candidate who has deleted emails and done things illegally and is a presidential candidate. That doesn’t make sense to me because if that was any other person you’d be in prison. So, what is this country really standing for?

It is a country that has elected a black president twice…

CK: It has elected a black president but there are also a lot of things that haven’t changed. There are a lot of issues that still haven’t been addressed and that’s something over an eight-year term there’s a lot of those things are hard to change and there’s a lot of those things that he doesn’t necessarily have complete control over.

What would be a success?

CK: That’s a tough question because there’s a lot of things that need to change, a lot of different issues that need to be addressed. That’s something that it’s really hard to lock down one specific thing that needs to change currently.

wear your gear and rep !
its not like any chargers home game is more than 50% charger fans anyway
(so if 75% are military you are still looking at 36.5% of the total fans being in the military at all, add in that about half of them are probably transplants, so now its only 18.25%. considering only like less than 1% are seals and its only like 1.825%...)
you could take em'!

in other news the chargers and bosa have ended what has to be one of the stupidest hold outs of all time
i hope hes been running to the store and back all this time( uphill both ways) and keeping in shape
hopefully he will get some quality reps against the 9ers ( and their third team offence)

I'm a diehard fan....a niner fan. I love Kap but he can't make a touch throw for his life...but he has the heart of a lion and I love him for it. I'd rather keep him but looks like trade bait fo the Cowboys now. Bless you Kap and good luck. We suck (the niners) so you are better off leaving for greener pastures. Peace from a niner faithful
