I went david johnson, followed by leveon bell in the 2nd rd- he was still worth the 1st rd pick last season even with the suspension....I usually don't go heavy RB at the top of the draft but it's all about that BPA

BPA means best player available?
Leveon was a stud when he came back last year in week 3 but didnt he get hurt in week 7 or 8 and miss the rest of the season? I mean, you cant forecast injuries, but i cant see how playing 5-6 games means he was worth his 1st rd selection last year...

Oh, I thought he had lost the starting job before he started protesting. My heart goes out to victims of the unjust system.

I understand now that this is his way of bringing awareness to the problem. I wonder though, what is the end game? People talk about it and then what. All I'm seeing is more racism and divisiveness among Americans. They took down all the rebel flags in the south and that pissed a lot of whites off and then black lives movement is going strong, pissing a lot of whites off more. Then you got the gun people scared they coming for their guns. White cops murdering innocent blacks. The left-wing media says Trump supporters are white nationalist who are racist, the right-wing media says Clinton panders to black people for their vote. All I see is the same old stuff but its getting worse. We should all be uprising against the system but they got us all fighting with each other instead.

You have a point Watts.
Is Kaepernick increasing divisiveness among races? Maybe, but anytime you take a stand on an issue like this you'll have backlash. Does that mean he shouldnt protest?
He had a negative experience with police some time ago, one where he had guns pointed at him and his black friends and they werent doing anything wrong at the time. That memory stayed with him, and with the recent videos of questionable police shootings of minorities (and white people too) in the last couple of years, he decided to take a symbolic stand (or sit, or kneel) to try to bring attention/awareness to this issue.
I think it's pretty brave what he's doing; he's not even the starter on his own team, and this stand he's taking is likely to affect his trade value (what gm or owner wants that sort of controversy on his team). So he's risking millions or tens of millions in future earnings by being outspoken like this. Hopefully he's banked enough money and will live modestly enough that he's set for life...

1st game of the season tonite, rematch of the super bowl with the panthers visiting denver. We'll finally see von miller in action, maybe he'll torment cam newton again. Also, we'll see a 7th rd draft pick from Northwestern of all places take over for Peyton Manning, and funny enough he might be an upgrade over 2015 peyton who was pretty awful (without HGH), like worse than Jay Cutler, although Peyton for the most part avoided TO's during their championship run...

Good points bababooey.

Supposedly the Broncos played harder because Peyton was their QB, compared to Osweiller. Be intersecting to see how the new QB will effect the team as a whole.

Is that right? Well, i guess playing with a top 3-5 (all time) QB should get a player's juices flowing; many of them probably were fans of Peyton when they were kids growing up...

Siemien had a couple INT's but also led 2 TD drives late to take the lead over the Panthers; not bad for a 7th rd draft pick making his first start against a very good team and very good defense.
Basically, the broncos passing attack, with or w/o Peyton last year, was below league average; if Siemien can be even league average or slightly above, they have a good chance at making the playoffs again, even making another run at the title.
Siemien has an NFL caliber arm, looked accurate when he had time to throw and has a quick release; he could stand to be a little more decisive (some of his throws looked a little late) but overall pretty good for a 1st start.
Why can't the bears find and develop low rd draft picks to be starting QB's?!?!

Cam Newton took like 3 helmet to helmet hits in the game, only the last one was flagged by the refs but it was offset by an int'l grounding penalty. To his credit though he didnt blame the refs for not calling those hits, even though any one of them would have extended carolina drives. I think the problem is he's so big and strong that when the play happens in real time you dont see him react to those head hits, his head doesnt snap back or move, except on that last one which was called but offset.
He seemed ok after the game but even he cant take too many games like that before it starts doing damage (concussions, CTE). The refs need to do a better job of protecting him; he's the reigning league MVP and will be or already is one of the superstars of the league now that Brady/Brees are getting older, Peyton retired (etc). But not if he has to retire early cause of concussion issues, like megatron did at age 30 because of persistent ankle and other injuries...

Now I get to watch Cutler get chased around by JJ Watt on Sunday. The spread is Houston by 6 pts, which is the 2nd largest line this week (Seahawks favored by 10 vs Miami). It's amazing that Watt had hernia surgery like 6 weeks ago and is going to start an NFL game this weekend.

Got to be careful watching the Broncos in a bar and yelling "go Semen!!!!!!"

Helluva game last night, right down to the wire.

Looks like Elway and coach Kubiak know what they are doing. Kubiak wanted to run this type of offense last season but it didn't fit Peyton's style.

Yeah, dont know if he can keep it up all season, but CJ Anderson looked like a star.

Lester, it's See-Me-En. Like semen, only with more '-en'.

I think Peyton prefers the shotgun (the nfl is increasingly becoming a shotgun league like college), but it's better to run out of power or offset I formations (with a fullback or h-back as a lead blocker). So they split the baby in the middle and did a lot of pistol formation last year with manning, which kind of hampered both the pass and run game, but admittedly i only saw a bit of the broncos regular season games last year with manning, and pretty much none with osweiler.

Well, sunday's action is almost in the books. Famous Jameis looks like the next big thing, Drew Brees does what he always does and that's throw the ball all over eh-vury-buddy; too bad he cant play defense.

Andrew Luck appears to be back and he only took 2 sacks which is half his normal amount so maybe he'll last the whole season. It's also too bad he can't play D but Detroit, even with the loss of megatron, still looks like a serious offense.

Alex Smith put up big fantasy numbers today in a comeback win against the Chargers. He had 48 passing attempts, which is like twice as many as he usually gets; people say this year he's got the best offensive weapons around him since he's been in KC, I suppose if they keep falling behind and he has to throw he'll put up solid fantasy numbers but otherwise, KC likes to run too much to really think Smith will put up top ten qb numbers.
Also, i had keenan allen in one of my leagues. Sucks for me, even worse for him; hope he gets better and recovers fully. Also, really nice that he signed an extension recently; better to take some guaranteed $ now than hold out for more and risk another injury and losing your value...

Texans week 1 winners 23-14 against da Bears. Texans D shut the Bears down in the second half. We lost our middle linebacker Cushing to knee problems. His career is probably over. Cutler is probably going to be a little sore tomorrow. 5 sacks for the Texans D. Not the prettiest win, but, a W is a W.

Yeah, i didnt really see the game, wasn't expecting a bears win either.
I see JJ Watt didnt have a sack, but did have 3 qb hits.
I guess one thing cutler does well, he can take a pounding. That might explain his errant decision making in game too, now that i think about it.
Ah well, here's looking for another top 5 or 10 draft pick next year, as well as hopefully moving on from the cutler era (because u know if this year they did well and make the playoffs, they would probably hand cutler another contract extension, forcing bears fans to watch him for another 2-3 years).

Osweiler had a pretty good game against a still-suspect Bears D; he's got some weapons on offense too, with Fuller looking legit next to Hopkins, and Lamar Miller getting 100+ yds on 28 carries. Anyone think Osweiler is worth picking up in a 2QB league, i.e. is he a top 20 QB?.

Is Chuck Pagano on the hot seat this year? The defense isn't performing well, but theyve had some key injuries on that side of the ball and the Lions offense looks like a top 10 offense this year. But yeah, with Andrew Luck entering the prime of his career, you want to surround him with the best team and coaches, and especially have at least an average to good defense. The only titles Peyton won were when his team's D were making all sorts of plays in the playoffs, same for his little brother too. Same for Brady, Brees, Wilson.
But if chuck pagano doesnt coach this team, who will? Can they get jim harbaugh from michigan (haha, that would be a scene); not sure if there are any coaching superstars available that would immediately make the colts better...

If you have Direct TV and don't have NFL Redzone, you're missing out. It's even harder to get off the couch on Sunday now.

Hey, if you got a buddy with the package, you should be posting up at his pad every Sunday. It's the bomb. It's satellite, but it's pretty solid. I had cable for years and got a chance to get DTV and I haven't regretted it yet.

How about them 9ers??? The Lambs just didn't come to play. Starting out with that dink and dunk bullshit plays right into Chip Kelly's hands. They couldn't get any offense going and you could sense the frustration by the end of the half.

They came out with a little more gusto in the 2nd half, but the 9ers deflated them again and again...stuffing the box and not allowing Gurley to get going. Eric Reid (LSU, baby!!) was playing like it was a playoff game, lol. Bowman was as beastly as ever. All in all, I'm impressed with that 9er D. Much better than I'd hoped for.

we bring usually the sides and i chip in on the cost of meat as well

def liked the way the 9rs d played last night
seemed like they were disrupting everything the rams had to offer
plus their running game looked strong

hopefully the dust will settle and they get their qb drama worked out
its kaeps season to prove that hes not a fluke and can return to his former self

Niners defense looked tough; navorro is 2 years removed from his knee injury so he's pretty much all the way back now, they have some young studs on the D-line (both former oregon ducks?, same as chip kelly) and will have be even stronger up front when aaron lynch gets back from suspension.
San francisco was regarded by most as a bottom 5 team this year but didnt look it last night, then again they dominated minnesota in week 1 last year but finished 5-11 while minnesota made the playoffs. So, week 1 is just that, one game.
Gabbert is not a franchise qb but i admired his moxie running the ball on scrambles, picking up 1st downs and moving the offense. So he's not going to put up top 10 fantasy #'s but if he's willing to sacrifice his body to move the offense he could help them win more games until kaepernick gets his form back.
Carlos hyde and the o-line look like a pretty good running game, maybe a top ten rushing attack? Just like a few years ago, when the team was competing for conference championships: solid D and a good run game will usually take you far in this league.

So now the kneel/sit down for the anthem is changing to the black power salute/fist or gloved fist in the air. Is the black panther party making a comeback? Is it still a thing?

Raiders showed some guts by going for the 2pt conversion and the win. That sort of risk taking can pay off big time over the course of the season, look at the Panthers once Rivera started going for broke, they did all right last year.
But what are ya'll raiders fans going to do once the team gets established as a contender and they move to Vegas?
Guess ya'll will be going to vegas for games (not the worst thing in the world). Or watching it on directv, hah, which is much cheaper than going to games and also you have a better view of the action.

Eagles visit the Bears next monday night. Now I get to see a rookie QB who doesn't get nervous or flustered during games (Wentz) outplay a 10 year veteran who does (cutler). Ah well, who are the top QB's coming out in the 2017 draft? Deshone Kizer from Notre Dame, Watson from Clemson, Chad Kelly (nephew of Jim Kelly, former Bills qb) from Ole Miss, a few others. Surely one of them will fall to the Bears with their top 10 pick next year...
