NFL 2016

I see that the chargers have until Jan 15 to decide to move Inglewood, home of the Rams' future stadium. But that isn't due to be completed till 2019. Do the chargers stay in san diego till then (leaving you two more years of football) or do they share the LA Coliseum with the Rams for the next two years (the USC trojans also play there, making it a very busy stadium most weekends during football season).
Kroenke is a shrewd negotiator but he wants the chargers in Inglewood as much as the chargers want to be there. A 2nd nfl team means more business (parking, concessions, etc) for his 2 billion dollar plus development. And it's either the raiders or the chargers that are going to be that 2nd team, and the raiders might be going to vegas... i guess we'll see how it plays out.

I didnt know the cowboys had a winless season once, but that might have been before the merger, before the Superbowl era. Post merger, it was the Bucs in the 70s and Detroit in 2008 or 9 that had winless seasons. Am I missing one?

The browns are stocked with draft picks, but have had extra picks the past few years as well and those havent turned out to be much. Luck is always a factor in the draft but the browns seem to be worse at it than most teams, probably a result of having new coaches and gm's every 2-3 years.
But you have to figure the browns will pull out of their funk at some point; arizona was putrid for decades before having some good stretches the last 10 years (kurt warner, carson palmer years), even playing in a superbowl during that time.

I thought irsay was still on probation for his dui but that ended over a year ago, so he's free to stuff as many pills and drinks into his mouth as he wants.
I think luck missed a game or two this season but the offensive line and overall defense are still sub par; i guess it was all luck could do to drag this roster to playoff contention (only being eliminated in week 16). Didnt he just give pagano and grigson extensions?

Buffalo couldnt even wait till the last game to fire Rex Ryan and his brother Rob. Maybe it's cause they want to give anthony lynn a 1 game tryout for Head coach, and/or to start EJ manuel because tyrod taylor is guaranteed 30 more million in case of a career ending injury (kind of like how the niners didnt want kaepernick to start until they renegotiated his contract to remove most of the injury guarantees).
Is this the last we'll see of the Ryan bros as NFL coaches? If so, then they'll probably go into tv, and we'll see a lot more of them on tv, doing commentary on games. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing...

those are really god questions,man
he has until next year to make it offical but it looks like a a done deal from where i stand
but what does he do until the stadium is built?
so do the have charger games in the coliseum where the rams are now?
will the chargers stick around in san diego until their new home is built
/i think we saw the kind of support they can expect from the home crowd during that last raiders game
i will have to look into this, but honestly i dont know where they were planning to play

the browns are stacked wiht picks but dont seem to be able to really come up in the draft
there are so many hole on that team just where would you being
the def need a franchise qb, but drafting a rookie is always kind of iffy
they might be better off trying to trade some of those picks for an established starter adn build from there
/what do you think the chances of kaep going to the browns are?

since going to the 16 game schedule only one team has gone winless
i think when the bucs did it they only played 9 games?

so who do you guys like in the afc?
carr was having an mvp like season before the injury and i wonder if the raiders can put up the numbers without him?
of course the pats are strong and have to be favored but its going to be fun watching the fins play thier first playoff game in how long?!?

lets see if the chargers young running back melvin gordon can get into the game for a few touches
he is like 3 yrds short of a thousand

lets hope no one gets hurt

Unfortunately, it seems like if spanos moves them to LA, it'll happen next year and theyll share the Coliseum with the rams until 2019. So yeah, no nfl in san diego starting next month... But LA's only an hour away, and the games should still be broadcast in san diego, if that helps or matters. It would kind of suck to be a san diego chargers fan, see the team move to la and then become really good. Rivers has a good 5-6 years left in him, if they get the defense right they could be a 12+ win team again, like they were at the beginning of Rivers' career.

The browns need everything, for qb they could try to develop Kessler, who as a rookie showed some promise. I think they need to end the RG3 experiment, dude is injured more than romo and he's a decade younger.
Speaking of romo, im sure jerry wouldnt mind trading him for some nice draft picks. Tony, when healthy (a big if), would add instant credibility to that team; they might still struggle to reach .500 but they wouldnt be a 1 or 2 win team with a healthy romo.

i think the chargers problems start at the top
to turn the team around you would need to get rid of spanos and bring in quality coaches
mccoy was not ready for the big time and has proven it with his record
i think our training staff is also weak and something needs to be done to help with the constant injuries that ahve plagued the team for the past several years
they very well could turn around and win 12 games, but i see them loosing 12 just as likely
unless they can stay healthy
the afc west is heating up and the bolts need to step up their game to keep pace

cleveland is just a hot mess and i agree, they need to move on from rg3
i really liked the kid when he came into the league but after injuring himself early on he has just never been the same
i could see them trading for romo but i think kaep has a few more years left on the tires
i guess it depends on what kind of deal dalas would want
but yeah, a legit qb would go a long way to improve their record

just one more week of regular season play and then we get to see whos ready for the post season
i like that there are some new teams in the mix and will def be keeping an eye on some of these up and coming teams

What up azez, long time no post.
I thought the 'niners in the superbowl' comment was a mistake post fueled by too much bho, but you must have known something, now that the niners will fire chip kelly and their gm, trent baalke, they have a chance to get good again.

Mccoy did some inventive coaching with kyle orton and tim tebow (!) when he was OC with the broncos, winning games with both of those rather flawed qb's. So it's no wonder he revitalized rivers' career when he became HC of the Bolts, as rivers is a much superior qb to either of those two. Still, he never reached the playoffs in his 4 years (so far) and his best years were 9-7 his first 2 years; last two years, not so much...
Every team gets injuries, even contenders get bad luck with injuries that derail potential championship seasons (ask pats and packers fans about how injuries cost them postseason chances the last five years...). You would think just sheer luck means that the Bolts go from having bad luck with injuries the last 2 years to average or good luck with injuries next year. Or maybe they need a new strength and conditioning coach, one who gets them the best PEDs...

Where's deezy?
Looks like he's gonna get to watch his boy C Cook play at least one game in the playoffs! I'm hoping for a breakout game from him

looks like the 9ers are going for a full rebuild firing kelly and their gm
this does not bode well for kaep
odds of kaep kneeling in cleveland?

time for the raiders to d up
i hear texans are playing osweiler
i think wiht enough pressure he can be shook
as long as they keep it low scoring i think they could win this one even if they lost in mexico city
as far as the afc goes i think new england has to be the heavy favorite

/would love to see the cowboys and pats matchup
/there are going to be a lot of green bay fans in dallas this weekend

fire up the grill boys, its playoff time

I didnt watch the raiders game last week, but stat wise Cook didnt seem to do so poorly (66% passing, 1td, 1int, 2 fumbles 1 lost). The turnovers are a concern, but for a rookie who hadnt played in any regular season games, had no practice with the 1st team, against the best pass defense in the league, it could have been worse i guess.
Gotta love playoff football, with games on saturdays. First up this weekend, the raiders.

I havent made any playoff picks yet, most people think the pats seem to have a clear road to the superbowl, with the raiders not having Carr, and Fins starting a backup and texans flipflopping qb's.
Still, u have the chiefs as a solid all around team and the steelers with Ben Brown and Bell; Pats will have home field throughout the conf playoffs but they could be tested. No Gronk either but they have a sober Michael Floyd and other solid playmakers on offense, and the Pats finished with the leagues #1 scoring defense this year. So all those Pats haters may have to grit their teeth and bear it.

The cowboys also have home field throughout the playoffs but many people think their rookie backfield will crumble in the playoff crucible; it's true that of course things get more difficult in the postseason because youre facing the best teams but when dak was putting up #'s in the preseason, everyone said wait till the regular season when the games are real. Well, during the real games he only led the team to 13-3 season and finished with a top 5 QBR. He's not your typical rookie and if he struggles it's cause he's facing a good team not because he's a rookie.

Josh McDaniel is getting a lot of head coach love from teams that need one; im not sure i get that...

I can tell ya why raiders going w cook..
It's not the stats
It's the way he looked while playing
My boy Mcgloin floated every single pass he threw...Like a 5'10" QB looking over a 6'3" line
Cook threw it like a 6'4" QB looking over a 6'3" line
He had some serious zip on a couple of em
First rookie to ever start their career in a playoff game..I think I heard that
Fuck it...Roll the dice

Is that right, Jelly? The Cowboys play worse on grass than turf, or youre just making a funny?
Are you waiting for Irsay to clean house with the Colts?

I figured that Cook just looked better than Mcgloin that game; that and McGloin's 1-5 record as a starter (3 years ago but still) didnt inspire a lot of confidence in him. Plus Cook was someone I thought would go higher than the 4th rd, he was a solid 4 year starter in college, won a lot of games, has decent physical tools to be successful, etc etc.
It was somewhat surprising that oakland drafted him, with a franchise qb already in Carr, but with all the injuries and concussion protocol now, you have to be ready at all positions for your backup to take meaningful snaps.
At least you guys get Karl Joseph back at safety, he's been a bright spot on defense, hasn't he?

Just a joke, and not even a very good one, I almost didn't post it. Who says "I'm on grass" to mean they're high? Not Willie Nelson, I'm sure.

As far as Irsay cleaning house, I don't believe it's going to happen. But I can't even pretend to know what goes through his mind.

The raiders won in Mexico city

thanks for the correction brother
i must have been smoking too much grass while half watching that one

as far as cook, the scouting report on this kid is terrible
http://archive.jsonline.com/sports/...pects-quarterbacks-b99704527z1-376408321.html

if their D holds up i still think they can win but it looks like the pats have an easy road to the championship game
/doubles down and lets the dice fly

settle in guys and roll up some grass, its playoffs

They drafted cook because Mcgloin is at end of contract...Up until last weekend he would have had some serious suitors...The 1-5 could be explained by the level of talent at time...Plus he killed off two ten million dollar a year quarterbacks for jobs before and after Carr got there...His stock was high enough for a team to take a chance on...Still is...But the little bit of film on him last weekend didn't look good...And I love that dude..Love having him as a backup... But ever since Brice Butler sent to cowboys..Mcgloin hasn't looked as good..
As far as Joseph...I LOVE that dude!!!! However...Nate is playing pretty damn well right now...If another week makes a big difference in Joseph's recovery..I roll the dice on Nate...Not a serious downgrade...Yet...Kid still learning

It was a good attempt at a joke, i think we all know what u meant.
Willie Nelson is 83, it's amazing he's been touring and giving concerts all this time. I guess weed is a wonder drug...

Irsay seems like he has a screw loose somewhere, maybe all his boozing and pill popping is self-medicating.
What do YOU think he should do, Jelly? Do they continue on as before and hope the team gets better, or do they start over with a new coach and gm and hope that improves things?
It just seems like if they keep being mediocre that they're wasting Luck's prime; he can drag them to a .500 record most years but unless he has a complete team around him a championship doesnt seem likely...

I guess you can't hold McGloin's 1-5 record against him, that came back in 2013 when the raiders were still terrible. I remember mcgloin because he just graduated from penn state, and that was back when all the sandusky stuff was going down. Nothing to do with him of course, but that's how i remember him.

I think statistically the raiders pass defense performed quite a bit better when karl was starting this year, obviously there are other factors there like who they played when karl was sitting, but i know his teammates say he's amazing in practice. Must be nice to have draft picks actually become good players. Free agent signings too are working out.

It's been said here in Indianapolis that the Colts record with Luck is no worse than their first few seasons with P. Manning, and that turned out okay.

So I'm okay with the coach/GM, it just takes time to build a championship team. BTW, most of the people of Indianapolis effing LOVE them some Chuck Pagano, and it's nothing to do with coaching. They love him because he survived leukemia and came back to his coaching job. Go figure.
