Hey hey, leave mariota alone. He led my fantasy team to the playoffs this year. It's too bad he broke his leg (same day that Carr broke his leg coincidentally) at the end of the season but I wouldnt say he's flimsy, even though he missed some games last year with injuries...

Luck can give up some turnovers at times but unlike someone like Cutler, he can bring his team back from those turnovers. I think that playoff game against the chiefs a couple years back, he had some turnovers and colts were down big but he came back, threw some tds and they ended up winning the game.

Looks like Pagano is staying, at least. As a former defensive coordinator, it doesnt look like hes done much to improve the colts defense. And now that Luck is on his second, much bigger contract, there's that much less cap space to sign defensive players. So it'll be a challenge to improve the roster around him, something that really hasnt been done in the 5 years he's been in the league. New GM, anyone?

Well, gametime starts in a few hours for the raiders. Should be a pretty competitive matchup; raiders 3rd string QB against a good defense, texan's awful qb against a league average defense. And then we get to see the lions get massacred at the Link by seattle...

Is there a URL for people who don't have cable

so you can watch the football game on-line ?

Every Super Bowl I do a web-search for something like that.

Slim pickin.

But it works in surfing - webcasts with LOTS of commercials.

Ever tried a digital antenna? They work pretty well for picking up the major networks w/i a forty mile radius. Get one for about twenty bucks.

Actually it makes me feel sort of primitive that I haven't bought one of those before.

Here's Newegg's digital antennas.

I find Newegg has or had some of the best technical hardware reviews. Very useful when buying computers.

Reviews with 100 or 500+ responses, written by serious geeks.

So if I had a digital antenna, I would know what football games are going on this afternoon.

Damn, I feel like Rumpelstiltskin. :tiphat:

Those are about twice as expensive as the ones you can get at Best Buy, or even Walmart. I gt a $20 GE one, and I'm watching Green Bay beat Eli Manning and the Giants right now, so...

Man, I really loved the ending to the Packers-Giants game. Interception on Manning, sweet! Really enjoyed watching the Packers beat their asses.

I'll have to check out the new egg digital antennas. Maybe we both learned something today.

If you've got a tv with a built in digital tuner (pretty much all lcd/plasma tv's have those built in nowadays) then even a cheapo antenna should be able to get you over the air channels, assuming you get a good enough signal from where theyre broadcast (within range, not too many obstacles in between).
If you want a wholly webcast solution you can use acestream player and find acestreams on r e d d i t . c o m (search for nfl streams on that site, then copy and paste the link into 'open acestream content id' in the acestream player). I use them for mma fights, can usually get it in HD and none of those annoying pop ups and spam links that you get with other webcast links.

Raiders-texans actually ended up being the closest game of the weekend. Connor Cook kind of fell flat on his face, but he's a rookie and the texans were well prepared. Not having Donald Penn, their starting left tackle, didnt help.
Assuming Carr has no setbacks in his recovery the raiders should be a playoff team again next year, especially if their defense improves.

Was kind of surprised at the packers-giants score, the giants did get it to within 14-13 in the 2nd half and then got blown out the rest of the way.
With the packers seemingly on fire, do they have a good chance of knocking off the cowboys in arlington? I would say no, given the boys already beat the packers once, and they have a much better run game than the giants and so can keep the ball away from rodgers, but it's iffy...

I thought it was quite an upset that Clemson beat alabama, denying the tide their 5th title in 8 years. But clemson played them close last year in the title game, and alabama had to deal with changing offensive coordinators the week before the game, so maybe it wasnt a big upset.
But it was getting tiring seeing the tide roll over everyone seemingly every game, every year. Unless you're an alabama fan of course. This must be how non-Bulls fans felt when jordan won 6 titles in 8 years...

Btw, what's your guys's super bowl picks this year? The easy answer is Patriots-Cowboys, that would probably gather the most ratings, but I'm thinking Patriots-Packers or even Steelers-Packers (a rematch from 2011?) are very possible as well.
Kansas City does everything well and Atlanta has a historically good offense, so maybe im discounting them too much, any chiefs or falcons fans on this board to tell me how very very stupid i am?

this weekend has some good match ups
/i could see any of the remaining teams (except for texans) going all the way

as far as superbowl picks go, aside for the safe choices (NE, DAL) i would like to see KC take it all this year
they have a good offence and lots of weapons
their special teams is one of the best and their D can get it done
plus they find ways to just win

in the nfc i like atl
sherman is going to be all over jones this weekend but he could still get it done
in addition to ryan they also have a legit running back in freeman

so theres my picks if i had to not go with the favorites,
KC v ATL

just wanted to add that this monday is the deadline for the chargers to declare if they are staying in san diego or moving to LA
it would not suprise me to see them move
i hear that the league may be putting together another offer to pick up more of the stadium tab, but i still dont see the chargers getting the public money they have been asking for

cant wait to see how this unfolds

well its official, they are now the LA Chargers
spanos dident even have the guts to speak before the san diego community
/a written statement was issued , but he would not do interviews

on LA stations, he was all smiles spouting on about community and winning over the area
he is a fool and i dont see him wining over the la fans (football up there is more about sc and ucla and historically they have not really suported pro football)
in san diego, a lot of fans were pissed and a pile of chargers gear grew outside the team head quaters
one fan even lit a chargers flag on fire

ill be keeping my LT jersey as well as my all black seau, and ill occasionally wear them with pride
i will always look back on the team and enjoy what was

it will be interesting to see if san diego comes up in the raiders stadium talks

I feel bad for Chargers fans. I'm a Steelers fan but I've always liked the Chargers since Junior Seau.

Patriots are going to crush bad wishes and so on... all I can say is Go Patriots! Make that epic offe I wanted to say, is that even a word? I mean it would be epic justice if Goodell has to cringe and groan as he hands the trophy over to the Pats again... Go Patriots!

Even though the Texans lost, it was good to see them sack Brady a couple times, and get a couple interceptions off him. Go Anybody But The Patriots!

Rodgers didnt need any Heil Mary's against Dallas, just a couple long fields goals from his kicker and one great pass to get them within range for the game winning field goal with 5 secs left.
Dallas did well to tie it back up (twice) after falling behind 21-3. Hard to come back from 18 down to win a game.
Dak and Zeke played well, if anything Dak played almost as well as Rodgers. So, not bad for a rookie, going up against a 10 year vet, HOF quarterback. Must be disappointing for dallas to get the #1 seed yet lose their first game in the playoffs, but they look like theyll be a contender for years to come.
Romo never really factored into this season, and Dak seems to be very durable and good at avoiding contact when he has to scramble, so most probably romo will get traded this offseason to a qb needy team. I know dallas fans will miss him, romo won a lot of games there and was a top 5-7 qb when healthy, but their youth movement has been very successful and time to move on...

Maybe robert kraft and roger goodell arent best buddies anymore, but if anything the 2014 (2015) superbowl ceremony was just as awkward, when goodell had to give the trophy to the patriots, that was when deflategate started.
Besides, i dont think goodell has a sense of shame. In his mind, he was justified in what he did and he ultimately won, didnt he, when the pats didnt appeal to the supreme court?

The chargers were in san diego 56 years before moving to LA. So a good 2-3 generations of Bolts fans are seeing their team leave for another city. The city council offered a $1/year lease of the Qualcomm to the chargers, but spanos still moved the team.
But the chargers wont be playing in the coliseum, theyll be playing in the stubhub stadium in carson city, where the local MLS team plays. It seats 27,000, which is less than half of what most football stadiums will sit.
Supposedly, before the rams and chargers moved there, LA enjoyed the best two NFL games of the weekend being broadcast locally. Now, they get to 'enjoy' Rams and chargers games every weekend. The Bolts have an easier path back to respectability since they have an established qb in Rivers, but after he finishes his contract (3 more years, he'll be 38 then) it will get scary unless they find a replacement. So what happens with these two teams when the LA fans get tired of them after 10 or 20 years? Or even sooner, like next year...

Also, i dont think the chiefs eric fisher held james harrison on that 2 pt conversion at the end of the steelers game. Looks like harrison ran himself out of the play and into the ground, mostly. Tough call there, although the chiefs could still have had a chance if the could force a 3 and out, but antonio brown came up with a big 3rd down conversion and that was the ball game. Chiefs defense did a heck of a job keeping Pittsburgh out of the end zone all game, just needed one more stop there..

I said to myself when he beat the giants, rogers had his"run the table" comment as a challenge to his team....they heard him obviously! Soon as they beat the giants they knew it was a wrap...watch and see.
