New extraction technique? Rosin tech?

i like the fresh machined metal shavings in the pic.

Yeah, that was just really CRAPPY RND hash made from a bad hermi run yrs ago, so garbage anyways(ok for edibles, but flavor is terrrible for vaping, or smoking, or pressing)...not fit for human consumption..lol so don't worry it was all tossed. I don't want to be smoking SS shavings, or oil from his bench etc either....

is your setup designed to press flowers and sifts/hash?

Sift/hash..to be honest we haven't tried flowers yet in this badboy, goal was 8lbs of rosin per day per operator. and hash/sift was the quick way to get there.

I have another press for flowers, trim, and shake :)

Trying to keep costs down..and get away from parchment.

Yeah, seems you gotta heat it, and get it the fuck outta there quick or it cooks and darkens...we need to work on higher efficiency ourselves...

I see #'s like 90% and I haven't seen how they figure out these #'s, short of extracting 10g with a traditional solvent, then Rosin pressing 10g and comparing for a rough guess. is it 90% of potential or did they just put 10g of full melt in and get 9g out......that isn't efficiency in my mind.

I like the vertical method because the rosin runs away from the heat quickly, although i am still using parchment. As far as yield i am good with whatever i can get as long as the quality is there.

Yeah I do vert for hand presses....I have been pressing shake for tasty treats I grew 2-3yrs ago (I never toss trim, larf, etc. and can only process so much for personal consumption and giving away to people who NEED it vs just wanna get high for free).

Kinda nice to taste black domina rosin 2yrs after I let the cut go...nostalgic almost...lol

mebbe 6.5 lbs, going by avg's as I am only processing a couple oz of hash at a time.... I have a day job, night job, and a couple more hobbies...sooooo time is pretty much non-existant. Still having some inconsistancies we need to work out, I need some fresh material also to test as I wasted all mine in the first day of failures......
I have been using hand pressing as a benchmark of the same material..... I can still do a nicer job with my hand press jig doing 1g at a time. But even my worst material is better than my best bho (I don't have a vac oven)...

Probably killed 50hours just between the hours of midnight and 3am just thinking and researching and re-jigging. Only time Im free it seems lol.

Ok I got all the samples from the last experiment of dry vs moist vs fresh flowers. Figures out some heat and pressure stuff. Then i of course broke the press because I've been using 30% more force than the equipment is rated for, oops lol! Luckily I didn't get hurt.

But my phone is going to die so I'll come back and post up the results later. I also still have to go back and deal with all the sour D rosin. For now though, commentary and hash porn instagram style. Super thin and close up to trick you into thinking my hash is magically danker than yours.

Comment; the 90% return is on super heady dry sift dude. I was getting 50% off kief that barely, I mean barely sizzles when you finger pressed some. The ig pics of the clear rosin with that high of return is from super heady full melt dry sift. I can't imagine anyone going through all that work on a consistent basis. Don't be fooled, I think 99% of the rosin being made is not of that caliber and it's done mostly just to have cool pictures.

As far as fresh frozen is concerned, brother roji already shared his experiences, the nugs will just explode. You can do fresh frozen water hash and then rosin that but I warn you the results will be extremely terpy and sappy. Speaking of which, I buddered up the dank blue dream rosin because it was starting to turn that way already. Was a terrible idea. Every time I whipped it an explosion of delicious smell erupted forth, which means the delicious flavor is no longer in the product. The budder is still pretty sticky and it's for sure less terpy now. I now think it's stupid to purposely budder up rosin. If it starts doing it naturally that's cool, just leave it out for a few days it's summer. I don't think it's good to force it though. If your rosin is a sticky it's because it has a lot of moisture and/or terpenes. Don't whip it you'll lose lots of terps. Either just deal with it or leave out somewhere safe for a few days. I think the world is going to need to change their attitude about color and sappy product when it comes to rosin.

So the first three pics are the fresh blue dream. Then there's a fun one. It's the c99bx1 rosin I pressed a long time ago. I apparently lost it in the shop and just found it. It's full on super dry crumble chips that turn to powder when you crush them. I scared to sample it but I bet it's fflavorless now but i thought it was cool to know it could happen. The last pic is one of the LA confidential bone dry flower press. I think I can load more than five at a time but it's a bitch with the phone.

YES YES YES on the texture and even color thing... I have taken older material and tho the finished rosin is dark...the FLAVOR and high is still pretty damn good...better than most BHO i've sampled.

Sappy = GOOD in our case.....shame people are obsessed with shatter...

I am overjoyed with my pull and snap super terpy rosin...even if it budders up, it still is TASTY as hell.

Now the downside....you sure do notice when you make a bad batch....ie over heating it.....during RND..

Also Nug runs are the easiest ways to get a nice clear product I;ve found...fresh material...just don't use tooo low of a heat or it waxes i have found and yield is shit....tho u can re-press at higher heat....but who wants to keep re-pressing...

I do like my Rosin-Wax tho :)

I'm all about it if it occurs naturally, what I'm saying is I'll never force the budder to happen again.

From what I've seen the best way to get clear rosin is with super heady dry sift. I bet it's not nearly as terpy as flowers though. I have some theories I'll share later when I have time for a huge post.

I was thinking of working on a two press tech and reintroduction of terpenes into the second press. One press at higher temps sounds easier though. Gotta mix it up a little though because the first stuff to come out has more terps.

I also have another theory about higher temps pulling more of the heavy terps. Higher temps seem to give me more of a complete terp profile and the product smells just like the material. These low temp presses with the BD and the SD smell and taste great but not like the material. It has a much higher note sweeter flavor. The BD rosin that I buddered up didn't even taste like blue dream before I started whipping it. It was like a crazy tropical fruit punch thing. Same with the SD. The super budder from it tastes like citrus cactus spice, lol!

I can't get my rosin tested yet locally...only flowers and that is just for raw THC...

Anyone press the same material using a few variables and post results anywhere.

I'd like to know what the diff is between the wax and the shattery hard crap, vs the pull and snap, vs even the overcooked runnier oilier stuff that still packs muted flavor and punch..ie using 3yr old material that was sitting in a rubbermaid lol.

new material....3 types of pressing methods...
older material...same pressing methods
then 2-3yr old material...same pressing method.

I have used some of my best dry sift that was already pressed, it came out golden not clear. I have also done some 3 min, and 30min tumble kief it all goes to a sticky shinny lump in the non stick containers left at room temp, it all is really good although i think the rosin from the melt dry sift is the best. Most of what i am working with is last years BD. Next is to try some different temps with the same material and vice method so the only difference is temp...

clear for me was pressing fresh frozen bubble that was chopped 10 days earlier than it should have been.....

That was some of the earlier material I worked with and it has produced my clearest rosin....

but not the best tasting by far....
