New extraction technique? Rosin tech?

What size bubble bag screen did you use?

This is a 25u screen (pressing screen)

some other impressions:

I have used the Teabags from APE. My Main concerns are
1) micron size...they claim 90u but i have some 90u that looks much smaller. Also...I like the 25u screen, think it cleans it up better especially with KIEF
2) Environmental issues. I aint a hippie, but so far I have tossed around 50 teabags made of nylon into the landfill. I can see tens of thousands of these getting tossed every across the country. Gotta find something more re-usable

Bubble bag screens aint made of sunshine and pansies, so i have been trying to use every last spot on the one I have. after a dozen presses...have noticed tearing and got a plastic fiber in one o my dabs. not ok.

Oil Slick DUO pads, dont like being folded and squished (like i did in my pics) using TWO OIL SLICKS (they come 2 duos in a pack) is the secret to keeping them from cracking under repeated folding/squeezing.

I think mostly everyone is using 25 micron. Ape will have 25 micron tea bags for sale very soon, keep your eyes peeled!

So I think enough time has passed to where I can share what I believe to be solid evidence for my ideas of packaging and presservation.

This started when I noticed samples that have been sitting out for a week didn't smell anymore but when I pulled em off the papaer, the underside still smelt great. So i have been taking the grams and pressing little patties out in a 2"x4" pies of parchment that is folded in half for a 2"x2". I had some samples that have been sitting out for about a month. They were even in my center console of the truck for a week or so as I had a stack of them I was giving away to friends. I was playing around yesterday, and those samples still smell excellent when the parchment is peeled of them! I think sandwich in them in the parchment about 1/16" thick make em look pretty but still thick enough to handle. Being sealed to the parchment is for sure preserving terps.

The freezer was a terrible idea!!! A lot of the samples had shattered! And got everywhere, what a waste of time, they arnt grams anymore and they are an ugly mess of pieces. Also, when you take em out of the freezer they shatter up more from thermal shock. They shatter all weird like because the have been sealed to the parchment so there's little thin fragments on the parchment that look like a bitch to collect up. I'm thinking the fridge is more appropriate or just a cool dry room or area.

Furthermore, I've been experimenting with whipping. Unfortunately once a a product is decarbed and dark and sticky, there's no bringing it back although low heat whipping with a little water does help the sticky Ness and color but not enough for the amount of work. I saw tverzura was using terpenes to whip his rosin. I wanted to play with that but since I'm ig noob no one wants to talk to me. Anyone have any good tips for steam distilling the terps? I know the basic concept. He did say though that he wasn't doing direct steam distillation so maybe he's putting the material in the water itself and boiling it out at low temps old world alchemy style. Any idea? Tips or tricks?

Hers a little tipper...I've been playing with two stage filtration. Coffee filters work great for small loose presses. If you get some natural unbleached ones you can just through them in your compost. If you are doing larger presses of making pre pressed patties, wrap the coffee filter in your screen material for added strength so the coffee filter doesn't blow out. Then you just through the coffee filter and the spent material in your compost and the screen stays much much cleaner.

Thank you! One last question I forgot to ask. Was this done using a hair straightener or a press?

Going to go out and buy some screens right now and the oil slick duo pack and start squishing again. I got a t-shirt press a couple months ago and got discouraged with my results. But your modified technique of just rolling the nugs up into a ball, in a screen, has got me interested once again. That and I can use some more rosin in my life

Well...It's happened. I'm a grown ass man, exchanging hair straightener info with another grown ass man....

I have used (and broken) a few.
Best yet is three Wet2straight 2" straightener from Remington.
Got it at target for 25
I swear is built for standing on

I jump up and down on the thing about an hour out of every day...It's fine.

 Alright just ordered that one from target. Time to get busy today! I'm a thin guy so it should be able to support my weight then.

Is this the screen you're using?

Just tried using my silk screen and rolling the bud into a ball and i'm getting a much better yield than I previously was. Unless this bud is just twice as good, which I think the quality was comparable, so I doubt that.

Couple things.... Who, what and where is "Ape".

And, as for 25u screen, I bought a roll of 23u silkscreen cloth for the cost of one bubble bag and it is 6 feet by 12 feet. LOL I used it for years before retail bubble bags came out. Still have a ton of it. I'll try some once I get my press built. I have all the parts so I am ready to go. Got a gig tonight so it will have to wait until tomorrow.

I think you'd want the opposite. Warm tool for a good stick and cold paper/product for a good release.

I tried that with a bunch of trim squish that got a bit to hot, tried putting parchment in freezer and warm dabber...didn't work.

Tried the opposite and just rolling dabber pulled it all off, like it normally does with flower pressing. Once the ball of rosin on the end of the dabber started to stick to the parchment again, into the freezer it would go...

Agricultural pollen extractor, he makes the tumbler I was gifted. Crazy chain of coincidences as he is the one working with aqualabs to make a self heated pneumatic press.

well blast...of it works I say go with it lol!!!

So can anyone give me any links to proper distillation/extraction of terps? I've now found you need a vacuum, damn it!

Yeah I remember that. That's not what I want to do. I want to extract terps from the material i tumbled. More of a old world alchemy, whole plant extraction tech. The little microwave kit for 150$ looks cool, idk about its production capabilities but supposedly only takes 6-8 minutes and makes a way better product then regular steam distillation. I don't want to deal with a vacuum tech and possibly have Kenny after me for violating his patent.

I saw the comment about tverzura not "using a vacuum or solvent" as he put it. I question the validity of isolating terpenes without the use of a vacuum or a solvent either one. Steam distillation certainly could get the job done but i wonder about what material he would be starting with, ie flowers, sift, or some crude (like ethanol) solvent extract.

I know in one of your later posts you commented on the microwave steam distillation that people were talking about at one point as a thoery for the clear before everyone and there mother thought they understood short pathing. Who is Kevin and what patent were you referencing when you made that comment?

I have been doing alot of research into terp isolation for our group recently and would love to chat with folks about it if its worth starting a thread about it as to not clutter the rosin chat. I have had my own thoughts on the matter but its been relatively un talked about on the IC thus far to my knowledge beyond the fact that we acknowledge that its happening.

All thoughts, concerns, disagreements are appreciated

Start the thread, I'll wait till then to give my response to you questions but in the mean time, it's kenny, at trichrome technology. I read a whole story about him "discovering" the terps in the cold trap for his vac oven. He apparently patented the vacuum cold trap distillation technique for terpenes. AI is apparently makinh special ovens to his specs to do the process. Horatio on ig apparently is making the bomb terps, he's roji ' s neighbor and friend but roji told me there's no way Horatio will share tech. The great gardener on ig just got and started using the microwave kit and he says there's way less burnt popcorn smell then with regular steam distillation. A basic 2L steam distillation set up in glass will be atleast 500. Then you got to add in the vacuum. Might as well do it in an oven for larger production but kenny will be pissed. The owner of the microwave kit said he doesn't care if I use his product to mass produce and sell oil, sweet! I talked to him for a little while and had him stumped a few times and we agreed there's still some experimenting to do with it. They are also currently working on making a larger model. I can share a lot more about the microwave kit. I'll stop here, start the thread SB I'll be right there!

sorry to divert but i knew someone here could answer and i thought it wasteful to start a thread for a simple question. i have a bunch of high grade shake and i want to collect the best keif. what size screen should i use if i am only buying one size?

i had my first real life BHO-Rosin confrontation!

Went to the gas station and buddy there i got my propane from is a young guy who seems pretty cool, we have chatted over the year some. Anyway turns out he is doing bho extracting with another guy commercially part time, and i was saying how i had switched over to heat press for about 3 months, and he was like yeah i wasnt happy with the yields, and i said man we are starting to get just as much, and when the technology is brought up to speed it will be fast and high yield. I was trying to point out that the rosin is quite a bit stronger and that is one of the main reasons/impetus to switch, that was when he got all defensive, was like oh yah, well my bho has won four first places! it got tested at 98%! i was like listen dude, i have been making bho for about 12 years, and now i probably never will again, just trying to show you that an old timer like myself(read has a lot of experience) might be someone you could listen to a bit, instead of starting to get all pissy at! :D

i didnt say that exactly, but that was what i was trying to get across. maybe it will sink in, i doubt it.

was funny for sure. first real life encounter. seen a few online ones already. had a few in chats too, lol. they will come around. resistance is futile!

Is there any proof that rosin is stronger?? Any side by side comparisons with the same material and test results to show at the end?? Thanks.
