What a fucking nightmare... has anyone considered marketing this shit as industrial adhesive? Fucking shit sticks to everything. Needs that Super Glue warning.... "Warning, bonds skin instantly". LMAO

I have been pressing for some time, now. And, I have pressed a dozen or so strains as well as sift and hash.

I NEVER get that waxy, easy to scoop stuff. Mine is ALWAYS super sticky. On rare occasion, I'll get a runny press but I let it sit out for a day and it gets sticky and easy to collect.

How do you get that 'waxy', 'buttery' texture?

I use DabPress plates usually set between 180F and 220F. I press down slowly until it gets a little tight and then I let it heat the load of 30 or 40 seconds. Then, press harder and it starts to flow. Wait for flow to stop (usually 15 to 30 seconds) and then (sometimes) a last press of maximum pressure (until it stops flowing).

Fucking shit is so sticky, it's a PITA to deal with. I would love to make some wax or butter.
.

I have tried scraping it off my fingers with my teeth only to still have sticky fingers and it numbs my lips from being on my teeth. :)
I have a shallow baking pan that I put a silicone sheet on the top and a ziplock of ice on the bottom. Works well.

Kut... where do you put the snake in the parchment? In the center or at the rear in the fold? How big are your snakes?

In the middle, and from 1-5 grams usually. You can roll it as large as your press will take.

I think I told ya about ten times, get at me for a glass collector tool. I have no issues with sticky or not sticky heat press extract, its all easy for me to deal with, with my glass collector tool.

I usually use glass. A glass swizzle stick. LOL Seems to do the job. The problem was with the rosin, not the tool. However, I actually overcame it [finally] and made some very waxy rosin. I pressed it at about 160F or 170F to get it that way. I don't believe I ever pressed under 190F. Oddly enough, yield didn't even suffer.

Looking back, I like the sticky, shiny, just less than shattery, rosin that I get at a little higher temp.

I am getting ready to move. When I get relocated, I'll definitely add one of your glass collectors to my rosin station. I do remember seeing some of them and they were pretty damn nice.

There is a huge difference between a small glass rod, and a large ended roller tool. I hate a smaller roller like I first made them now, you need a larger end compared to handle end diameter, and the mass too is nice.

I make them for really cheap, or fancy.

Q tip jar.

Hyup that's how she goes.

It's my favourite thing I own and I can honestly say I've been dabbing regularly since I got it. Well more regular. Coupla times a week.

I have also discovered ordering cheap quartz bangers and bits from dhgate. Few new things to play around with. Stoked to try a "cold start" dab once the inserts get here.

What? Heat the plate with a torch and then slide it under the glass mouth?

I love the beaker.

.

I came up with the idea of the titanium pad and swingarm in 2004, sold thousands of them, you been under a rock hey? My sister did glass back then and I did the metalwork, then in 2010 i started glass too.

Very cool. Like you said, where the fuck was I? LOL Do you have a store or anything? Maybe I missed it.

Now, if we could just make that arm swing out into an induction heater instead of a torch, we are in business.

I stopped using torches the minute I discovered induction heat. I use it for my nail, my VapCap, anything metal. I drop a BB size stainless ball in my glass ball pipe with a little rosin and stick it right into the induction heater. Perfect for those very tasty cold starts.

Neato :) I use a silicon carbide enail setup. Its about the same as titanium, but its my biggest enail head, and it could last forever.

Did some squishing this weekend, I know people say it is to dark, but it is terpene rich, tastes like killer hash, and is really strong. If you take a thin piece it is golden. I love the driptech method no scraping it just drips on the frozen tile...

I’m doing it at 200*f and it drips for about 1.5-2 minutes on a 50g patty you can get more if you do it longer but I don’t like to heat it for to long. Having it run away from the heat is a lot different than it staying on the plates. If I don’t have enough of a certain variety to make a 50g patty I do it in a bag for 1 minute but then you have to scrape it off the parchment...At that time and temperature I don’t get the off gassing of the terps...

Hi everyone. Quick question. Sorry if it’s already been covered (this is a long thread and I’m just starting to read through it...).

I am looking to put together my first legit press (sick of the hair straightener/bench vise malfunctioning on me and cooking my rosin), so I’m pretty new to this.

I think I’ve decided on getting the 10 ton Dabe B 10 shop press. I like that it’s high quality. Was originally going to go with the HF shop press but the build quality and some stories I’ve heard of them breaking made me nervous. Safety is important to me. I’m open to other presses though.

My main question is on the plates. I was thinking 3x5 plates are plenty big enough for me. And I am planning on going with a caged kit for ease of alignment.

But what I was wondering is what’s the difference between a more expensive set like the “low temp” plates that are $480-600 for a 3x5 caged kit ($600 with dual temp controller) vs a kit like the DabPress 3x5 caged kit with dual controller for $299. Or the same kit from Dulytek for $299? (I am open to suggestions on any plate kits)

Is there a big difference in the way they function? Are they more accurate, temperature wise?

How accurate can I expect any of these plates to be? Like, for example, if I set the temp to 200 F, how close should I expect each plate to get to the set temp?

I really, like what I’ve read about the DabPress plates and am leaning towards them at the moment, but as I said I am totally open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I swear by Dab Press. You can't beat their customer service. Their prices beats EVERYONE. And, the quality is top notch. I have 2 of them.

I have a caged set of 3x7 plates that I used with my 12 ton HF press. And, I have their All-in-One setup. I totally love this thing. Tiny so it sits on a shelf. Works just as good as my 12 ton setup. 3x3 plates. 2 gram presses. I think it was under 300 bux.

Thanks! I was actually reading some of your posts about DabPress. Glad you responded!

Do their plates heat up pretty evenly? Or at least as evenly as any of the other plates do? Like if I set them for 200 f, how close do they usually get (I realize you can’t give me an exact number and that it’ll fluctuate. I’m just looking for a rough idea).

Were you able to retrofit a pressure gauge on the HF? Or do you just press by look/feel? If so is that tough or not really? (sorry, like I said I’m new at this high pressure rosin stuff. I was using a bench vise...).

Their new improved plates look pretty nice. They are insulated nicely and seem to heat up quickly.

How has that HF shop press been for you? Have you had any issues with it bending or breaking?

Did you have to swap out their bolts, etc? I saw that they only use grade 4 hardware and that scared the crap out of me. Grade 4 is nowhere near good enough. You really want at least grade 8 at minimum IMO. It’d be easy enough to swap me out though.

Thanks again for the help!
