New extraction technique? Rosin tech?

I don't agree with wide flat pre-pressing. Its counter productive to getting the extract out. A pre press puck should be at least as tall as it is wide, if not taller. I just roll snakes.

Kut... where do you put the snake in the parchment? In the center or at the rear in the fold? How big are your snakes?

I love my pucks but I am finally going to try bottle tek style soonerish. Generally shy away from thick presses as the pucks come out spongy rather than dense wafers but with a reduced surface area? Maybe better.

I agree for larger 6x6 plates and such. I would rather a rectangular plate.

I did a bunch of bottle tech and it's cool but I just don't need that much rosin [usually]. When I make caps, I use more rosin and I did do the bottle tech thing in the past.

My standard MO is 2 gram pucks.

However, last night, I had a friend over and was showing off my lab and he asked me about the rosin press. I grabbed a bud from a jar. Probably half a gram or so. I simply tossed it in between some parchment and pressed some of the nicest rosin ever. And, yield seemed better than usual. I rushed the press. I turned it up too high. I did everything wrong. LOL

No big deal but I have to wonder really how much all the hype makes when pressing for personal use.

Snakes, dragons and pucks. LOL Albeit, I do recall having good luck with snakes about the time I joined this thread.

What a fucking nightmare... has anyone considered marketing this shit as industrial adhesive? Fucking shit sticks to everything. Needs that Super Glue warning.... "Warning, bonds skin instantly". LMAO

I have been pressing for some time, now. And, I have pressed a dozen or so strains as well as sift and hash.

I NEVER get that waxy, easy to scoop stuff. Mine is ALWAYS super sticky. On rare occasion, I'll get a runny press but I let it sit out for a day and it gets sticky and easy to collect.

How do you get that 'waxy', 'buttery' texture?

I use DabPress plates usually set between 180F and 220F. I press down slowly until it gets a little tight and then I let it heat the load of 30 or 40 seconds. Then, press harder and it starts to flow. Wait for flow to stop (usually 15 to 30 seconds) and then (sometimes) a last press of maximum pressure (until it stops flowing).

Fucking shit is so sticky, it's a PITA to deal with. I would love to make some wax or butter.

I can relate to the sticky, sometimes you touch it it just goes into your skin and no way are you getting it back. I am not sure what causes it to be sticky or waxy or buttery, but the sticky is a bitch to work with...

i only get the cake batter if i let it cure for a few days, and even then only some strains do it. others just get more stable and pull n snappy/shattery.

going to squish some memberberry soon i think so i'll get some pics.

For the runny stuff, I did try an ice pack and it made it instantly collectable.

For my normal stuff collection is easy. I use any tool at hand. This shit sticks to anything. This shit even sticks to my silicone jars. LMAO I try whipping it and creaming it but it always goes back to sticky.

Another thing I did once for the runny stuff (and, I discovered this by accident) is place the parchment, rosin side down against a piece of flat glass and rub it. Pull the parchment away and the runny grunny will almost 100% stick to the glass. Then, collection with a razor blade works to gather it.

Mmmm too much work. If it happens all the time figure out the variable. Likely high moisture content. Sometimes terpenes. Sometimes oil based sprays. Mature or immature seeds.

Phase of the Moon... Alignment of the stars..... Wife's Menstrual Cycle.

Ya know, there is one variable that's almost always the same.... I store at 65% with Boveda packs so it's pretty constant. I'll try some drier and more moist.
