New extraction technique? Rosin tech?

I dont know that anything else would come out at 100C, worth trying if I ever press it again, but I have my doubts that it would do anything because the brick left in the filter was very dry.

I avoid using my press at higher temps, trying to limit wear and tear on it. Last thing I need is having to spend more money on this hobby.

I rarely press flowers now, when I have flowers not worth smoking they are not worth pressing either, best to make hash with em, then press the hash.

I do like to press a nice bud when judging a new plant, my new thing is if they don't ooze a lot, they do not stay in my library. Regardless of the smell really.

That is the thing that is weird with my spacegrin cut, the flowers do press well, nice squirt every time, but then the hash wont give a good return.

Anyway, I keep this plant for now, maybe plants with dryish trichs is the next big thing. The hash and flowers have a unique flavor right between spacebomb and dr.grinspoon, very delicious and head high, anxiety inducing.

In my IC stuff, someone commented:
''maybe she needs to ripen more, not enough oils in the heads could lead to low yeild.''

I doubt that it is the problem, she always look fully ripe at harvest, in fact I had the best return (in rosin, not hash yield) in the 160u bag with the spacegrin, I would never press 160u normally but it looked special that one time. I have even shot a clip of the 160u rosin it was so unusual.

You dont think some of the white powder is thca left behind

basically I think its mostly THCa yes, I guess I could make pills or whatever with that but it is still not dabbable, or doesnt combust as clean as rosin. I can only pay for so much testing. But the fact that the shitty rosin return I got only tested at 33% THC makes feel like there was a lot left behind, likely THCa and other cannabinoids.

Can someone please explain the reason to use one of these rosin bags to put your flower in before pressing?

Are these bags simply made from silk screen material or ?

Thanks

Nylon or polyethylene.

It is a filtre bag for contaminant. I use coffee filtre for flower. The bags work great for hashes.

I use the bags religiously, since starting with them I've had no torn parchment or had to pick stray pistils or veg matter out of my rosin.
I tend to break my material down into budlets and remove any stalk.Be sure to properly pack the corners of the bags to ensure minimal rosin absorbtion by the gaps. I have tried grinding the herb which gives a very consistent pack and possibly a slightly higher yield than whole nugs, but the rosin does come out a little darker. It doesn't bother me as it's only for my own personal use anyway.
I collect all my bags and do a qwiso wash using pure grain spirit, which helps make the herb come out of them easier for reuse, cleans them and I can evaporate the spirit and am left with an RSO style product for whatever. I am always surprised at how much wax/solids there is in the alcohol solution after straining, especially after winterising, but even at room temperature it will form and collect in a tan looking puddle at the bottom of the vessel.

I am really confused with rosin now.

When I first started pressing, I thought it was pretty simple, wrap hash in filter, press and you are left with rosin! I used to think that all what was left in the filter (I still use coffee filters...) was contaminants.

Now people are using what is left behind in the filter as a way to separate THCa from the terps, wax and oil?

What is the point of making rosin then, don't get me wrong, it's quiver and I like it, but besides creating a dabbable product, it seems to waste a lot.

I am just trying to get my head wrapped around the whole hash rosin now. It is the only way I know to clean my hash to make it full melt but I am perplexed at how the rosin will actually test lower THC than what is left behind in the filter.

Is hash rosin nothing more than a clean dabbable oil containing mostly the terps and waxes?

This whole vid about making solventless THCa isolate and the one strain I have that yields hardly any rosin has me very puzzled.

So much to learn still.... rosin isnt going anywhere but it s not doing exactly what I thought it did. I thought the trichomes were simply melting, transporting all the cannabinoids and terpenes in the melt, leaving nothing but contaminants behind. However this is not the case.

Whats left in the coffee filter is contaminant if you pressed your hash or flower at the right temp(high enough to melt the thca so it passes through the filter) then to repress for thca you take the rosin not the contaminants and put it in a 25u pressing screen and press at a temp lower then the melting point of crystal thca. This timewhen you press the low temps allow the terps to pass through the filter leaving the thca behind in the filter.

It works best with sugar waxed rosin cus the crystallization process has already started, the thca is already separating out in sugar wax

90-160micron for Flower

Using a pre-press to shape your flower into uniform pucks will help a lot. It helps to prevent blowouts and allow you to press more at once.

Exactly this..

Pre pressing also helps, as does good quality parchment paper or alternatives
