New extraction technique? Rosin tech?

try it, check the yield.

dark color isn't necessarily bad, i was just saying sometimes dark color is a bad sign( if it was overheated), but not always. Depends what its from.

Yes there are many variables.

I make a lot of dark second press from flower. As a whole I think it is inferior. Anything I press run to ambering trichomes progressively browns out. Light in a drying area..

One or two I prefer pressed hotter. Strong hazes take it well, creaming at a very low temp gives a sad looking yield anyway. I've had two batches of hash come out anything other than dark as sin.

Suppose what bothers me is an assumption, primarily on social media, that dark automatically indicates very poor quality laden with pesticides and mildew.

I think if the plants were grown to full maturity or beyond maturity with lots of amber trichomes you would think that the rosin would come out darker. I too have experienced flowers that just wont press pale even at low temps.

Plants harvested too early will often yield the clearest extract.

One thing I don't like about most flowers pressed at low temps, is that if I don't collect it right away it becomes impossible to pick up with the dabber, it just turn to white powder.

How dare you get bothered, you shriveling shrew.

anyway, I have found that second press collections, although far inferior in flavor, and initial euphoria, one often gets a nice component of stone from it usually that is slightly left field from first press. More penetrating/physical, yet less heady/psychedelic, yet still very satisfying.

After the 1st press I cut off all the extra crap and stack all the 1st press pucks about 5 high. Give them a press I get a great return. Shit gets me lit :D

If plants are not ready to harvest there not. Harvesting plants with all clear heads is just a waste IMO.

yes but when pest takes over it's better than nothing, also still very terpy, everyone wants weak weed nowadays so what haha. I still try to harvest at the right time most of the time, or most of the year, a bit harder in the summer months...

shit gets you lit because of the decarb from the first pressing

I never second press... ptewie. Terrible taste. LOL

I do use the chips. After the first press when they are all coated with the leftover rosin coating the surface of the chip, I use them for edibles. Yummy.

Like Lyfespan said, the chips are already partially decarb'd. A quick trip to the oven at 240 for 40 and into the crock pot with some butter.

Doesn't make the butter as clean and tasty as pure rosin but... wow, it kicks ass.

I'd rather second press than eat edibles.

Just curious, are you an "edible" guy, normally. Or do you not do ed's much?

If I didn't use them for edibles, I would probably second press. It's just that they worked so well for edibles, that I kind of stuck with it.

After the first press, the surface of the chip is just coated with the leftover rosin. Certainly not a throw-away.

I have done an ethanol wash a few times with the chips. I usually use ethanol extract as a tincture or for cooking. There is definitely some potency left in them. I recently gave away a jar full to a friend, apparently he will smoke them when low, yuck.

I thought about fermenting my chips with L.A.B. to make fertilizer for my plants. I've heard of some large operations using the chips as feed for livestock. I bet worms would love them if you had a worm bin.
