New extraction technique? Rosin tech?

OilSlick recently released FEP clear film, apparently much more nonstick that parchment or PTFE.

I couldn't help but grab a few samples.

Thanks for sharing, I think I am too much of a clean freak when it comes to the end product (not in the grow room though, because its like outside inside!) So I go through way too much parchment paper to buy something like that.

Most growers can only experiment with so many strains on the press, since Ive got mine (3 months ago ish) Ive pressed many many different cultivars in small amounts because almost every plant in the garden is different. There are strains that are for sure harder to collect but there is never rosin that I can't collect, maybe 10% of the time I have to use an icepack to get things started ...

I think the best flower rosin is obtained from fresh but cured buds, in the jar for 2-4 weeks before pressing. For now though hash rosin is my focus, flower rosin is too much work with my press lol.

It is for packaging/storage. Some rosins bleed into parchment and are difficult to remove.

Personally (and I see OilSlick admit it on FC) PTFE isn't suited for pressing. I have been tempted to try their parchment but they only have the one size square.

Some claim better result with the thicker film but that seems like the best of a bad situation.

I believe Black Label makes a similar quality (as Oilslick's parchment) with prefolds, but it is substantially more expensive. If I was pressing for profit that would be my choice. Cutting up rolls gets old and I despise the tendency to curl up.

Agreed on your comments on flower rosin. I've always assumed all the budder on IG is uncured flower.

Yes for long term storage I dont know how well the parchment will work for me.

I was actually thinking of looking for a bunch of small flat glass square, something like 8'' x 8'' X 1/4'' you could press a thin patty where the outer edge would be exposed to air.

Simply stack them in a box to keep dust out. You could probably store it for 10 + years or would it eventuall dry on the inside of the puck too?

Anyway, there is nothing in my collection worthy to preserve for years, but in the near future, I want to start putting some aside, build a collection, like a wine cabinet.

is that something you thought of creating hashmasta kut? I mean if you are gonna put something away for years, you want it pressed between nice glass!

I buy 123 ft rolls, they dont curl up until the last 10-20 ft

I'm not liking the curl either. I tried BL parchment. I did not see any difference from the cheap generic paper.

HK, teach us how to use those ..

Anyone know someone using this press. Looks like a well made press. Very expensive @6k$.. It can lay flat for directional flow.
I noticed they never use more then 7.5 tons of pressure. I can only do 5 tons. Never been able to get flows like this does.. I dont press bubble.

There are rosin stamps, the round puck thing; I dont use one but my dad swears by it, and the roller tool. He says he has to use his roller to get the dregs off a sheet though. I use just a roller. A large roller can either be cold enough or not hot enough depending on the extract being picked up. Typically a large glass roller end holds enough chill in it, in warmer weather to pick up stuff easily, but also if you are creating a very dry extract, and its cool in the room, a warmed roller via a torch flame or whatever you like to use to heat something a bit can allow you to pick up fly away extract safely too. I use quick motions, thats why a thin handle, to larger diameter collection end is nice; a fast spin is needed sometimes to get stuff to lift, other times you dont need as much speed. It takes just a little practice to master the roller tool. I use a razor to quickly scrape off the tool. slowly spinning the tool and scraping up towards the tip. Takes very little time for that part too. I dont think all people use a razor though.

I tried I cant figure out what u mean?. If I flip it over paper is from the top it still rolls up. If I cut on the red or blue line it rolls up after I cut.

Whats with the price of bags. These should be .50 cents per bag tops. Most of the good bags are 2$ ea.

I've read a number of places that some people add moisture back to older, drier material and get better results pressing that way. Has anyone tried using anything other than water when doing this? I'm wondering if you can use Everclear instead and take more advantage of the co-solvent effect that way. If thats playing with fire, then a 50/50 water/ethanol mix is a somewhat less flammable.

I don't think they are adding any major amount. Mabey a bovida pack or a few sunleaves.I would avoid any flammablesuggestions like ethanol.

what is the going rate (dispensary or not) for bubble hash rosin and clean flower rosin?

To much moisture will make it sizzle and crackle..

Yeah, I have some rosin pressed from bubble hash that wasn't quite dry. The rosin is great, but its a lot sappier than the rosin pressed from the fully dried bubble. Its not quite damp enough to sizzle, but its already annoying just from the stickiness. Thats why I was thinking about using something other than water.

I would agree. Low temp plates + press about 700$..

I use a all electric press from china cost 800$. Looks identical to a rosin bomb press.
