the first time i used my hair straightener it was too hot even on the low which is 300f.

so now i turn it on for 10-15 seconds then turn it off, and use my temp gun to make sure im at 200f-220f. then after i squish my first bud i click it on for 2-5 seconds and it's more then enough heat.

has worked much better like EsterEssence has said no puff of steam.
much much lighter color.

I'm hooked! thanks guys! my brother is a welder and i showed him the tek this past weekend and he's going to help me out and put something together for a press.

I read on here about the puff of steam, although i had seen it many times, i used my new press where i can lower the temp and just as i had read no puff and much more flavor when i puff it...

If you run quite fresh not really dried flowers, you need to have a lot of steam come off. I use higher temps for some things, such as that, and much lower for others.

So fresher product = higher heat, good to know, I wasn't sure yet. Def if you see that puff of steam when you unclamp, you're running too high.

oooooo no my purple plant gave me regular colored rosin. that is pretty c4!

was it cured bud or kinda fresh? wondering the moisture level present in the pressing material.

That is from buds that are not dry. The purple is only showing up because of the moisture. My Cheesequke does the same thing if you press wet. Looks cool, but I would put money on it that you can taste the moisture.

Just used a 20 ton press, with separate heated plates. Wow, what a difference. I am making my press now, and will post pictures, with parts list for those who are interested. Poops all over my t-shirt press.

Looks legit but the Joel W setup is probably cheaper. Also with an arbor press you have to physically push down the handle the whole time. So if you are doing low temp long squishes like you should be this might be a little more work than a vice or h-frame shop press. Its pretty cool it doubles as an enail though.
