e-pens are mediocre guys, and not at all on topic
What do you use?
I have an enail setup, or my titanium pad curve unit for when i dont want to wait for it to heat up. I also have had 4 or 5 e-pens, still have one that works. The main beef I have is that although you can get a couple or three good tasting hits, by the design of them with the loading of more than one hit at a time, the successive hits taste like reclaim ahead of time, when they all should taste wonderful.
I guess there maybe some good ones finally, but for sure most are not ideal for great flavour with prolonged use.

I have the Muad Dib, and run it thru a water pipe, it works quite well if you have the power Adapter...without the power adapter it doesn't get hot enough. Anyways, it has a little replaceable screen. That heats up. The directions say to use very little product and to burn off any excess after each use. I am used to doing big dabs, so it is hard for me to put the amount they suggest each use. When I used to make shatter, the screens lasted quite a long time. When I switched to making Rosin, mostly from flower, the screens would get gunked easily and within a few days would barely work. Kinda seems like when a bong screen used to get clogged from RESIN. Flower Rosin seems to make RESIN, the Rosin turns dark black and thickens on my tools. The bubble Rosin turns amber on my tool with heat, it reminds me f shatter. It doesn't turn black with heat like Flower Rosin.
I actually like making Rosin from flower. but I am curious as to why it turns black, tarry, very Resin like? My flower Rosin looks clean, but I am going to try some Tbags this week, like I do for the Bubble Hash. Any contaminants would be filtered. I personally do not think it will matter, but I want to rule it out. I got to thinking about people who WATER CURE, ever see how dirty the water gets the first couple days? Then it will clear up. Iwonder if Water cured buds would create a cleaner Rosin from flower? I see a noticible difference between the effects of heat on flower rosin vs bubble rosin. I am all about making the be still product, cause it is mostly for myself. My Source Orb pen coils get snuffed out too easy with Flower Rosin
I have the same problem. Rosin definitely leaves something behind. If you use coils, you'll see it build up pretty fast. I have been trying some different methods lately to try to retain that "fresh hit taste" with every new hit. I use the torch to heat the banger or the nectar straw and they work pretty well but, I was trying to get away from the torch.
With the coils, that black resin builds up pretty fast.
We really need to move forward with collection and use techniques. Sure would be awesome to roll a joint of Rosin. LOL I am almost out so I am going to try some new and radical techniques this time.

Can't help with the pens, but if you use an enail setup, or a banger for that matter, etc and you don't want that black buildup, turn your damn temps down. You're burning the material instead of vaporizing it like it's intended. I set my box to 550-600 (depending on source material) for the enail banger setup. You'll see that instead of burning, the rosin will pool in the bottom. Then carb it, get your nice milky hit since you reduced the boiling point of the rosin via the increased suction, and then after you blow out your hit, take a q-tip and run it once inside the banger to soak up that excess liquid. Now you have a nice clean surface for your next hit and I don't think you'll ever go back to high temp dabs unless what you're dabbing doesn't have much taste in the first place. Waste it to taste it brah brah lol.

True, but there is no law that says stoners must stay strictly on topic, and I certainly wouldnt expect a bunch of stoners to follow the rules anyway

Been squishing Jack Herrer the last couple days. Above average yields, and some of the best tasting oil I have made myself. If you can get your hands on some, I suggest squishing it.

I find this a bit humorous since the first post I made here I sort of got bitched out for asking a question about something that had been stated few pages back and got told to read the thread and not take it backwards. But hey its all good ... lets just try to keep this about rosin and not get to far off for too long ... Shame we havent seen Sunfire here keeping everyone in line

Actually its funny you should ask ... Just went to Las Vegas ... took a cpl pens and some rosin with us. Of course on the flight there the wife lost her ID ... knowing the pain in the ass they put you through at TSA ... we opted to drop our skillet style pens in the trash. I believe the last one I had was a double coiled Stag. The wife gets lots of perks at the dispensary she works at so we are always getting to try new stuff. Hopefully she brings me one home later today. I dont smoke joints out and about much but do like to keep things rolling till i get home with my pen I have a picture of my wife in full pat down mode by the TSA Yes it was a happy ending !!

i had a similar experience with a bag of jack i squished early on in my rosin experiments. great yields, heavy flavor. unfortunately it was more of a pissy jack expression. i really love the piney citrusy ones the most
regarding concentrate pens i highly recommend checking out the portable dabs thread here on ICMAG and the "one hitter quitter" thread on fuck combustion dot com. i could never get a truely satisfying (or tasty) experience from any of the ready made wax pens on the market, but these provide true dabs with excellent flavor. major game changer for me!
