New extraction technique? Rosin tech?

Lol I feel ya man. Just curious, how often are u squishing? One session per day? That quick grip was starting to wear out my hand. Do u still use it as your main press?

Usually 2-3 times a day. I like it fresh. Many strains start to budder in just a few hours.

I am so manly, (LOL) I broke mine from my meaty hand pressure. I was informed that the irwin vice grip press with the pinpoint pressure style gives more pressure, and in one spot, so it gets better yield, a couple were saying 30% on many strains. I am getting not that much, but as much as 25% i have got with it. WIth this, you just lock it on and wait, no repeated hand pressure.

I actually put one side on the ground when loaded while sitting on my couch then its easy to put tons of pressure on it when closing, can put your body weight into it and its just a quick close and wait. Easy to release. I havent welded it on with liquid cement to my plates yet, because the exceptional hair iron i scored refuses to break.

Man you've been holding out on us with a new tech lol. That sounds like a pretty sturdy straightener. And 25 percent damn not bad. I've never actually weighed my runs so I have no idea what kind of percentage I'm getting.

Seems very rare, i dont see them for sale, got it used, its a lilique, and it actually goes from too cold, to too hot, so its ideal for any strain.

Ahh that warm feeling as the high washes over you after a mentally exhausting day..
It's always sunny is playing on the TV, but I'm so joyfully baked I just wanted to write about my thoughts of this lovely technique.
I've been smoking rosin for ~3 weeks and have had to go and buy a new straightener. The old one bit the dust after being reduced down to just metal plates. The plastic surrounding them didn't take to my 240+lbs very well.
I got a digi but it only goes down to 310, even though it seems to produce a nice light colored shatter I would prefer more control. 310 for first run and 330 for second run got me squirting good! Those unmistakable jack herer terpenes seem to disappear in the second run, but its still well worth the collection.
I like to make clean 3-4 hits at a time, then take all of the buds and make a huge second run dab to bust my lungs on. Usually I save it for last but tonight I came home from my first class of the spring semester and thought I could use it.
I have been spreading it around and everyone seems to love it, but in my area people in the know will still look at you weird when you talk about smushing up some buds in a straightener.
I told my one buddy that I read about this technique almost a year ago now, and we both probably laughed and joked about how people will believe anything on the internet.. and here I am haha

By the way.. if you are getting runny results, especially if it is watery, I would make sure you don't have any seeds in there getting squished. I wasn't sure at first why, but once in a while I'd get a watery one. I suppose if your bud was really moist it could happen, too. Lower temps seem to either not work or get blonde or light amber shatter with excellent taste, and higher temps seem to give sticky darker product with less flavor.

Thanks for the suggestions on the collection of the runny product, I'll give it a try next time I press. I've been pressing on the weekends only and between that and bho, plenty for the week.

Here's some Rosin that I pressed recently. Super Sweet Tooth on the left and Girl Scout Cookies on the right. The GSC turns into straight stable shatter that doesn't butter and stays snappy in your hands. The best result I've ever gotten from pressing by far.

These were made with the home made straightener plates running at 300F on an Arbor Press before I got my MediSun dies.

video coming of production rosin run from HMK press, using silicone mats, and getting stable butterless, pull and snap wax.

Chasing Green - GSC is the best for any hash. Makes the most potent, and best tasting oil.

been pressing icebergs ultrabrite, much strong and tastier than gsc imo, hell 70 day chem favoring GG#4 tastes great too, blueberry headnabd was awesome, omg FLK#3 i wanted to live in too many great flavors out there besides the wayplayed GSC

I had a buddy that just grew out the blueberry headband, and it was very disappointing. Sounded great, so I am glad to hear it worked for you.

I would love to try the ultrabrite, 70 day chem and bluehead band for reference. :tiphat:

It's all preference, like a fine wine, however I still hold GSC above all other strains for resin. Would love to be proven wrong, and try something even better.

Pressed out a bunch of kief yesterday, it is amazing how much more flavor and lighter color there is pressing at 200-220* rather than the 280-300* that the normal hair iron does...

I haven't pressed kief, but I find this especially true with bubble. Good observation. :tiphat:

I also find the lower temps keeps the oil more stable.

At the lower temp there is no puff of steam and not near as much smell when you release the press, i am loving my new press. I will have to wait a few days to see how stable it stays. From 65g of kief i got 26g of really nice rosin...
