New extraction technique? Rosin tech?

Thanks! I was trying coffee filters, but the rsin just soaked into the filter. i will give it one more go. Maybe the t-sacs are better fir certain material? It seems like the t-sacks ave more holes. My coffee filter is wicking it all up

nah that's not it slow. i use coffee filters too.

try one or a combo of the following:
-more heat
-more pressure
-less filter paper
-tighter more even packing

if you go back a few pages i posted a demo video for the HMK press using folded coffee filter packets.

good luck!

I don't understand the use of filters, tea bags and screens. I have never been able to get any of them to work well and it seems like a terrible waste since so much is absorbed by the filter.

I have pressed flowers, buds, trim and skiff, all without any filter, directly onto parchment and I never have had a problem. When I pressed the loose stuff I would get some very minor contaminants in the rosin but when I started pre-presing that all went away.

I use a small hash press but just about anything will work since the pressure I use is minimal.

Whether it's buds, trim or whatever, I put .5 to 1 gram into the press and press it slightly. Just enough to keep it bunched up.

Then, I put it in the parchment and press it.

Maybe for bigger production or for dry sift, it is required but I don't see why anyone feels it's needed for flowers/trim/whatever.

fuck i just wrote out a thoughtful response then hit the stupid "back" shortcut button on this fucking pc mouse.

long story short: makes collection way faster. also, the difference between 98% and 99.9% contaminant free is huge in terms of smoking enjoyment to me.

sunfire---

i had written a bunch about my ptfe experience but i need to go have some coffee and food before i try again lol.

thanks for keepin me on my toes!

I just ordered a Pneumatic press from china with one heated 15 inch on top and three sliding heated pads on bottom. it gives a measly ton of pressure per square inch. Think it was worth the 650 for machine plus 650 for shipment? or did i just brain doodoo? cause i have an unlimited amount of insane crazy shit to press and i think my buddy as got the terp fractions thing down.... Plus i don't wanna sound braggy but it think my stable will squish angel fart level flower rosin....

Hi Ras, its about time you came too! People usually press flower in parchment paper with no coffee filter, and in whole form, compressed into a ball or snake, nice and damp material.

Cypha, why use coffee filters or teabags for flower? Are you not using parchment too, or just the coffee filter...?

What is that new collection material rufio craft verzura and Richardson and the likes are secretly talking about?
Didn't get a good look but heard that,s where it's at.

I havent seen or heard anything. Probably just ptfe rolls or something. Wouldn't surprise me that they are just trying to create hype in this burgeoning rosin game.

Wait wait wait. 1 ton per square inch??? That's a shit load dude! You mean 1 ton total force yes??? Sounds like a good deal but such huge platens are gonna take some tech to not burn the oils on. 1 ton total force would not be a lot, couldn't so very big presses.

I'll post an ig link to the oakaii post with their auto collection tech. Gimme a few minutes. I'll explain it too.

Ok here it is... https://instagram.com/p/8lye5DIA8-/

So essentially they took the burrito tech and folded off one end and directed all the oils out the other end. Which is great for that press cause now the oils no longer sit on the platens burning away. Enlight of my recent posts about the theoretical physics of the extraction process, I don't think it's good to have such a long and skinny tube but hey, seems to have worked alight. The color coming out is a golden red, I know it will end up looking good with that color as it comes out so thick. Idk what they used inside for filtration. They wrapped in the stuff they were trying to brag about on hash church, I think. Strait told me about reusable sleeves.

I'm going to be perfectly honest, this was a great idea lol!!! My auto collection that I've been saving for the release of the press (which seems to be taking forever) was not this simple. It was essentially the same thing, folded off 3 sides and left one side open. It seams to be a little better then what they had done for minor details of post press clean up and getting the oils cooled asap. Which is why we had designed our own frames and everything from the ground up. I still would favor my tech and uses less paper, but the way they did it is more simple. So hats off to them

For flowers and trim I still use the standard burrito tech with two sides open to allow more escape area for the oils, especially since they don't gush oils like the kief does. If done right, the oils don't travel far and build up nice and thick and collection is still super easy. But for big qp kief presses the "auto collection" is freaking awesome!!! I'll post a pic or two of the burrito tech. The kief was research grade so the oils are very dark, this was just research from a long time ago. Also there's a pic of a pre pressed little brick. Which is crucial for getting maximum load density and having a tight little package to wrap filters around. It makes things sooooo much easier in that department that I think it's worth the extra prep time. Plus you get totally even amount of material, even in the corners.

using parchment also, but it just makes collection so easy, with the 2.5 ton pneumatic press it can easily smash the flowers into extremely small particles and push them into the oil, too inconsistent. I find that coffee filters are great if you can control the speed and manually increase pressure slowly, but for me they break on the pneumatic so the mesh tea bags are working like a dream right now tbh.

on the 1 ton arbor press i can use coffee filters with no blowouts ever, and get the same consistent results, and it doesnt effect my yield..i will try to get this down with coffee filters on the pneumatic for sure once grey_fox has the plates finished up! I hope to visit him tomorrow. ill upload a pic of this past weekends pinkkush press. i do about 2g at a time sry i just saw this ! ineed to get on my burrito tech on point, now i see why directing the oil to the 2 sides only is so handy!

Good tips, but some material makes very runny Rosin...which just soaks into the paper. The Pre-pressed pucks made from a hash press works better for this material. If anyone else has trim or material that creates a Rosin that is thin/runny...don't use filters! All of my other material makes a completely different consistency.

Sunfire, u got a pm, or will shortly.....Im laughing my ass of here..

Too be honest, I think of they truly have some magical reusable sleeve material, this is fairly simple. How I've been doing is a slight twist to the same concept just to keep things cleaner and cooler. I jist had a 2 hour argument with my engineer last night about this. Idk if investing in r&d for a piston design would be worth it at this point unless it's automated. Which is our goal once we get all our business shit sorted and squared and everything is running smoothly.

what temps and press are you using slow?

Just with clamp/hair straightener, I shoot for 220f. I think that this strain is very Terpy...maybe causing a thinner Rosin? It produces a oily Rosin, at any temp. all other other strains mine usually yields a thicker, sometimes shatter like Rosin.
I have a 5x5 D-Nail that has been paid for months ago...but has not even been shipped to me yet. Sore subject.

Damn is it really at the 8 week mark now?
