New extraction technique? Rosin tech?

Rufiocraft is saying his plates are 100% SS now, not alumin as I read in this thread earlier....

Anyone got a price points for what is being offered now...

Yeah he's saying they are SS. Which is silly. All the info as far as the strength of an alloy and it's thermal conductivity is easily found online. Ss is a terrible choice, oh well.

Hard press = 3500
Happy Buddha = 3400 for complete package, don't know platen prices.
rufio claims 400 for the platens and heating package.

medisunman is still there but his name has farms at the end now.

haze oil those pics are kinda grainy, not sure what I'm looking at lol.

Judging by the looks of it he put 2 heating elements from a stove into his plates? I may just be insane. Let us know how it turns out Haze!

u naild it bro! I did a few presss and im likn it. takes lik 10-15min to dail in the temps than the fun begins. I used a $35 hot plate from Walmart and 60$ in metal and 30ton press I had just sitn there lol.

im using 1/2g and 1g flowers . my yield went up big time from a hair straightner . now im gonna play with different temps and how long I use pressure, and flower moisture. than im start pressing some hash. here a few more pics

nicely done man thats is one big mamma!

would be good for big half zip presses haha, whats the temp range like with the heated plates youve rigged up?

Sweet man, let us know how the results work out. Cheers

Lmfao that wins the best home build award for fucken sure!!!! Omfg that's so awesome ahahaha!!!

I bet the big ass coils give good even surface temps too. Now you gotta work on a temp sensor

I can press a full zip on 18 square inches. He should be able to do 2 zips?

Ringo it's time to step it up, where's my damned David Bowie edition!!!!

Edit : incase anyone thought of pre pressing fresh nugs to get the moisture out before pressing, it didn't work for me. I got a lot of moisture out on the pre press, I thought it would work. But man once the heat was applied water started gushing everywhere and the material wanted to expand like crazy. I had to just barely apply pressure and slowly increase it until I gave up. Got a super cool steam puff when I released the pressure though, those are always fun!

Furthermore I confirmed suspicions that excessive moisture leads to an instant budder effect but the terps are bountiful!!! I want to really dial in this moisture business over winter and work on a proper dry and cure process to preserve terps. I need a dehumidifier that works at 32F lol!

Sunfire:
U knew excessive moisture caused autobuddering :) quit playing coy..lol

Hazeoil:
Nice to see u switched over to the dark side of Rosin buddy. Remember to grab that SS mesh for ur hash :)

POST SOME ROSIN PICS TOO.... ;0

Thanks for the confirmation dude. May I ask what type of dimmer and also what type wiring did you do?
Ive been looking at lamp dimmers rated for 300w and 10A. They have two wires and was wondering if I just had to wire the heaters in line with the dimmer from the positive of the dimmer to the heater than back to the neutral wire from the 110v supply.

It was easier than that more me. Plug and play.

I have my PTC's wired directly to standard 110v outlet plugs. I plug all those into a power strip and then I plug the power strip into the fan speed controller and then the fan speed controller plugs into the wall outlet.

Have you considered freeze drying buds? I bet with dry ice and a vac chamber you could finish partially dried nugs and keep around those lighter terps.

Thanks for the pic Ringo. I had gotten a very similar idea from Sunfire for using a dimmer as a control unit but I never thought to use a power bar which I like quite a lot. If you were wanting to you may be able to cut the power bar out of the situation by wiring your heaters together with both sets of leads connected into your power source. I had done the same with my hair straighteners. I took extra plates from a second straightener and wired them straight in with the first straighteners plates. I believe it will either change your maximum heat or over all heat up times depending on which way you wire it. Problem with the straightener is that the heat sensor causes the control board to power the heaters longer to get them up to the temp it needs to read before shutting power. I had 2 heaters wired on one end and one heater wired with the sensor. The 2 heaters wired together ran at half the heat, but once the second set of heaters got wired onto where the sensor is located it just adjusted the whole system as if it were running larger heaters.

Sorry for my stoney ramblings. hope some of this info can help you!

Blast - yeah I knew it but I wanted to absolutely confirm it with a controlled experiment.

Hash of the titans - yes I've discussed freeze drying with people before. Would cost a pretty penny to do so on a larger scale though. I'm only interested in investing in research that can is more sustainable and can be applied to larger scale production.

Fox- if they are wired parallel and not in series it shouldn't be an issue and the ptc (or you say the MCH works the same way) have less resistance as they get hotter and therefore pull less current and draw. They should all then be self regulating and will draw equal current if wired parallel. I'd wire them all to one single dimmer and keep it clean. A temp sensor would be super clutch too cause different environments will effect the heat differently. Ambient air temp, length and voltage of the wire behind the outlet, how fast or slow they ripping through presses, and I'm sure more factors will be involved. I personally would want to be able to see the temps and adjust the know accordingly

Is dry sift and iwe rosin always darker than flower rosin? Obviously 6* is going to be fire but I mean kind of crappy hash/sift.

So I purchased one of medisuns presses about a week and a half ago, and I'm very happy with it. Yea it's a little pricey for what it is, but my yields have increased significantly from the hair straightener. Only complaint is you can only press 1.5-2 g's of flower at a time. I would like to upgrade to an automatic press in the near future and have been eyeing the hard press by @gold_ash.

@sunfire where can I find this happy buddha press you speak of?

I also agree with ringo about the different temps and times; after 180 degrees I find I pretty much get the same yield and result no matter the time and press. Higher temp just juices it quicker.
