NEW Colorado Growers Thread

Only way I could honestly see needing 100 plants is if a peep was growing them small like Diesel Ryders.

The oinkas now have a list of suspects to check out.
If you have an extended plant count beyond 75 plants, you best prepare for a visit.
Or anyone who grows SoG, average we did depending on strain was 30-50 plants per 4'x8' tray at my last hydro place, at that rate a 100 plant count would be eaten up in 2 trays especially taking veg into account since they consider size to indicate maturity not the plant's state of growth.

Lots of people grow hydro for many reasons, mostly to avoid hauling / spilling soil, they don't have to grow SOG of course but that's the traditional method espoused by all those lovely books the dispensaries and amazon are selling them about growing that were written 5+ years ago. Wish I could help but the whole state is looking for a handout I can't afford.

Ever been to a "brain rape" meeting? They sit you down and try to make you feel comfortable, then try and pry as much knowledge as humanly possible out of you for free or in return for a lunch. Every time I get invited to one of these, I continually repeat the word "proprietary" until they give up and just eat their food. Resulted in some good lunches, zero opportunities.

"Here's my resume, where's the menu? Nope, won't be giving you a rundown of my method for free over the course of lunch, but i'll get you to pay for several cocktails."

I just got done boiling and reducing down a whole bag of chilis and 4 heads of garlic. I got it down to maybe 10 or so ounces. I'll play around with dilution ratios in sprays to see what works.

Gee you are getting more serious than me on that stuff. I started with a large jar of minced garlic and mashed it more while heating, added more water and boiled for a few minutes. I just use chili powder because it is only 99 cents in the Mexican import section of the local grocery stores. Fresh chilies cost more than that...And i happened to already have both on hand.

PLEASE fill us in on how it works for you. I was happy the first day but it seemed to be almost gone after a few.

I had to laugh yesterday. A gal i was teaching to grow came by and started freaking out about how much mildew was on my leaves...It took her quite some time to understand the diatomaceous earth looks like that after it rains. I am not sure she really believed me???

Boy am i glad i won't have to live that much cosmic karma... There isn't supposed to be a profit in growing...it is about learning, sharing, and growing yourself with the plants. Keep you goals toward zero or you will hit the wall. It is a WEIRD zen-type look but if you watch only those who keep that stay happy.

I started slow and did 1 teaspoon of that concentrate added to about .75 teaspoons of buildasoils's essential oil blend with my typical foliar. That ratio didn't cause any noticeable damage to the plants themselves but it smoked my cover crop on the Black Lime Reserve noticeably. The grasshoppers are still on the plants too. I will try maybe 2 teaspoons of the garlic chili concentrate in conjunction with around 10 mL of neem oil next time (amounts are for 48 ounce pump sprayer) The grasshoppers give zero fucks, they are gonna eat my plants regardless. I just flick off any on the plants that decide to stick around in the morning and evening and pinching/crushing others that I can. Otherwise I shake the plants to try and get them to jump or fly off. If I can I stomp the bigger ones when they land on the ground. You have to be quick though because they jump away just as soon as they hit the ground.

These afternoon rains every day kind of piss me off too as I'm sure it's washing off whatever spray I'm applying. So I'm doing sprays once every 2 or 3 days tops.

Well brothers I have finally made it..

I have not extensively followed the thread, but cannot say even with the articulation of the finest writers in history how thrilled I am to be here..

I'm in Greeley so I'm a long ways from the mountains, but I can't wait to embrace the beauty and the people of this place.

Hopefully I will see some of you at that cannabis job expo in Denver I believe on this Thursday!

Any details on that expo?

Phew...
It's going to get hot over here starting tomorrow... 95°+...
I've been enjoying the afternoon showers the last few days & the plants have been loving them.

Looks like the ladies are beginning to stack nodes as well. Flowering begins now.

"It's not what you know, but who you know"

There is something to be said about networking and that certainly applies to this industry.

Pretty stoked about the heat wave coming. What happened to monsoon season? Hope it stays hot and dry for that banner year.

Kinda weird this year we have plants that flipped first week of july. Anyone else have the same problem/good fortune?

I think mine are just now starting to flower. There aren't any preflowers popping up yet but the accelerated growth is the giveaway.

I feel you on the hoppers...i am still doing walk through s to grab and smash them 2x a day. But i am noticing a trend. The leaves that have the white residue from the diatomaceous earth are not getting eaten.

Diatoms are just fossilized Silica. They are INSOLUBLE in water. They work better as a powder that can attach to bugs, but what if a thin layer spread by spraying is enough to hold them back? Isn't it true that they can't digest it w.o it tearing apart their insides? It might be that my grasshopper fight had an unseen ally that is helping slow them. I think they can't eat the DE and it is almost coating my plants. Just another guess though.
PLEASE, tell me if you think i am right...i am guessing here.
