Moved 4/5 New Caldonia to a different tent. Had to clear up some space in the jungle tent.
That's them in the back
There in good company! Polyhybrid roommates, but they seem to be getting along OK.
They trained up real nice, seem stable and stayed reasonably sized.

Thanks for asking!
1 gallon grow bags.
The tent their in now is a 3x3 with 270 watts led. 18 plants :/ but the polyhybrids are really close to done. Then everything gets rearranged.
Their old home is a 4x4 with 437.5 watts led, 15 plants now (was 20 plants!). I'll post a pic of that tent now in the Thai thread.

Generally I run 25-35 w led per square foot.
With most plants I top once as you can see, to get 2 main stalks. Except with stuff I know will stretch alot I top like crazy.

Sometimes when I post and I'm amped up I seem aggressive. Please don't take it that way. I'm not a keyboard warrior and try my best not to be a toxic dick.
Yes, this is better.
I'd wait, I can't say how long but a lot of those heads(top of trichomes) are still clear. Milky is better possibly with some amber, depends on strain and effect you're looking for.
Pistil wise, is the plant still throwing white pistils? Are the ones that are there turning red and starting to curl back towards the calyx?
Oh also look at both the sugar leaf and calyx trichomes, probably focusing more on the calyx trichome color than leaf for ripeness.
Different parts of the plant(top, bottom, middle) will ripen at different times typically also.

All good, thank you for your answer.
The plant is still producing new pistils.
The brown pistils are more streight upward like the white ones.

For me i find it realy difficult to identify milki and clear trichomes....

Here's my short answer as someone who hasn't grown this strain yet and has poor eyesight: 3 weeks.
Okay thank you, we will see.

Clear\translucent
Milky\opaque
If you can see through them I'd call it clear.
Looking at the ones that are in focus the heads or balls sitting on the stalks\stems, you can see through them. The way the light hits them sometimes can make it hard to tell.
If the plant is throwing new pistils and the ones that are there aren't receding (still straight) it's not ready yet. Some plants will throw pistils til you harvest, this is where trichomes come in(amber, milky, clear).
I'd suggest to google some pictures of the varying ripeness of trichomes but be careful of the rabbit hole that may come of it as you'll probably be left with more questions than answers. Maybe just look at the color of the trichomes and no words. Idk..
Remember most of what we look for is in the calyx so look at the trichs on it vs the sugar leaf, but be sure to take both into account. This part isn't as clear as I'd like it but I'm not sure how to change it.
That and watch the plant as a whole (top, bottom, middle - in no particular order) as itll ripen at different times.
Take small buds (maybe the popcorn, larf) for samples and when it's the effect you want take a quick look under the scope and harvest anything that looks like it. Obviously looking at it before you smoke it 😀
Props on your grow, the plants look good and the training was well done.

Hmmm, i grew Thai Chi and got to try Nepal Jam x Kali China from another grower and both are pretty heavy relaxing or sleepy... the NJ x KC more on the body, Thai Chi first with a heavy head high and a bit cloudly and max an hour later it is super relaxing that you want to sleep.

But maybe you just need the right phenotype...

Some New Caledonia my buddy @early_bird gifted me in summer, ripe and well cured:

Since that was already a few months ago i don't remember much but i know it was more light, a bit creepy but pretty clear and i liked it. Smell was like carrots and soap. ^^ I will get a few more buds soon to try and i will grow it by myself. :)

Yes, she is nearing 3 months in the jar. You are spot on, she does smell pretty loud, sweet fruity. The fruity is of the overripe cantaloupe type. Taste when vaped at 180° is for a short moment at first draws fruity, then more incensy, spicy with a menthol side.
Her effects are outstanding. This is special cannabis for me.

I have never had anything like this before. She gives a very euphoric, clear and clean high that I can only describe as pure.
Never experienced weed with an effect so pure. She does come on with an energetic wave that you can feel as a slight buzz, but that wanes off and leaves you with a crystal clear head high without any buzz. It leaves you completely functional, enjoying what ever you like to enjoy doing with a smile forced on your face and yourself under full controll. Great for daytime use, obviously. The pheno I harvested is not very powerful and very kind, not racy at all. I would not call her particularly psychedelic and the closed eye visuals are not overly obtrusive. But the euphoric, uplifting effects of her are of the highest quality. From all the cannabis varieties I have tried, New Caledonia would be the champagne of cannabis. I am actually not a fan of real champage, but I think you get the point. For me, she is a strain for special occasions*. Would be great to try her out with others in a social setting.
I haven't had a chance to try Oldtimer's Haze, but I can imagine they might be similar.

* Edit: but not only for that...

Thank you so much for the positive feedback @Common Sense 🥰 when i read your description of the terps i knew you had the fruity pheno of blissful, bright, expansive and energetic effects. It's one of the best sativa highs i have had the pleasure to experience. Enjoy!
Here is a small update at exactly 6 months since harvest. This is still outstanding. Very uplifting effect, uplifting both in the sense of euphoric bliss and in the sense of feeling light and physically elevated, floating. This is really an excellent sativa.

Those look right on the verge between clear/cloudy. So to me it would depend what kind of effect I am aiming for, and if I had grown it previously I would pay attention to when the nose/flavor peaks. But you won't know that yet, since this is the first grow with it...

Also, when looking at trich's; make sure you're looking at them from several areas on the plant, and always on floral material not leaves. Leaf trich's will turn amber much sooner than those on the bracts. I typically aim for max trichome size, not so much color/clarity. Some strains will stay clear, some won't go past milky, some want to turn amber really fast... every plant is different.
