It's quite comical how extremely paranoid closet growers constantly are about LEO technology typically used to bust commercial operations.

It's quite comical how you little know-it all's with 10 or 15 posts are the first to post the "I got busted now what do I do?" threads when your 400 hps grow you told all your friends about gets found out in your first apartment mommy & daddy paid for so you could have your own place in college. And you thought you would be able to just grow a bunch of weed but failed to pay attention to the changing technology and related risks involved with growing marijuana in non-medical states in the middle of the drug war!

Some people don't want to be the ones posting those I got busted threads and prefer to choose to take some precautions like intelligent individuals. But thank you for adding absolutely nothing useful to the conversation! Now go look out your window. ;)

It's absolutely hilarious, yes, that you small-timers seem to be far, far, far more paranoid about "being busted" and lots of LEO resources being used on you, than people with big ops.

This is my first post to this site though I have been lurking for a long time. Growing even one plant in my state is a felony. It doesn't matter that hardly anyone ever goes to prison for it. People get busted for it every week here (I read arrest reports) and it turns their life upside down.

I don't use MJ but wish to grow it for my wife who is sick. We are not teenagers. We have a family at risk and a lifetime of assets and roots in this community that would completely shattered if we were arrested. The likelihood of us being found out is very small but what we have to lose changes the equation.

When I hear someone like yourself minimizing someone elses concern, it tends to set me off. Maybe prison is not a big deal for you. Some of us have something to lose.

This might be a bit off topic, but I have read that pot plants need 12 hours of light in total and 5 hours of intense light. What about starting your photocycle with cfls and having the hid lamps come on at a Different interval. That is the way God does it.
Has anyone tried it. Seems better than sleepless nights worrying about a smart meter. Might be cheaper too.
Those helo's in Florida always scared the crap out of me.
Good luck bro. It sounds like you got a good lawyer. Worth every penny!

What (I think) growbert is trying to say here small scale (closet) growers are not so organized regarding their security compared to commercial ops (and therefor worry more).

A good portion of busts (around 90%) happen due to talk for the most part.

Jealous friends, revenging individuals such as GF's, x-wifes, family etc.

Large scale growers know what they are doing (have their security covered) and don't talk about it, closet growers are (far more) tempted to show off their grow and are giving themselves reasons to worry because they know too many people know about it.

Someone correct me if I see the above the wrong way.

i must admit i think perennial has the right attitude, his post shows a certain maturity. he has thought through all the consequences to him of some silly coincidence leading unwanted attention to his grow.

it is true that the more professional you set up the more peace of mind you have. the thing is even those op's some times get busted for some silly coincidence. say you get broken in to and neighbors phone the cops, just 1 example. or there is a fire, or even a false fire alarm. when that happens the fire dept will not leave a building till they have personally checked every room for fire.

Very well said, and very true. Unfortunately some of the youngsters on here who have not been to jail ever & have nothing to lose but a fantasy world they live in along with a crop of plants simply cannot understand this at their current immature & inconsiderate point in their life. Godspeed to them! :tiphat:

As far as all the comments made by growbert or whatever his name is I really do not have time or energy for negative non-helpful people so everyone just let him post his thoughts and move on. Don't forget to look out your window growbert, are they watching you?

PS: Smart Meters also register the flow back of negative Ions meaning if one thinks he's smart and "borrows" electricity BEFORE it makes it to the meter...some Smart Meters are able to tell.

lol... nice atleast the thiefs will be caught also! makes me happy actualy.
i pay about $1100 a month in elec. 1300 before i installed my chiller/watercooled setup.

I want everyone to take a really good look at how a positive useful thread turns into a flame war of insults & negativity which is like a black hole you just simply cannot escape. Obviously someone here has a bad case of small penis syndrome and instead of coming into this thread to add useful knowledge they prefer to just belittle everything being talked about in it. But hey it's the Internet what do you expect? lol

growbert, why don't you enlighten us all with your supreme knowledge of all the above? So you know, when you were in your shitty diapers I was busy cloning mother plants and growing 4-5 footer's under multiple 1k's on hydro tables kid. With no carbon filter! :)

My family is in Nevada. They told me that the news announced that the power company is working with the police and reporting all unusual electrical usage.

So we also have Nick on his fourth post adding more hearsay, from another state. So the nevada state power co is working for leo? Or your family just heard something?

So far, fear, hearsay, and an incomplete story, blaming leo for using poco info to bust us. We need some input on this threat from members in those states to confirm this or say it ain't so. I can tell you they are not doing this in Il.

Great thread!
Things are pretty lax in Colorado and cheaper to live than Cali, extreegrowerrr. Look into our burbs. They all have huge basements. :)

I said space heater, not water heater....That's OK. BUT, if I use a power conditioner, like a Trip Lite, there will be no unique signature, correct?

Is it simply a resistive verses inductive load "tell" or is there something more unique about an HPS signature? If these are the only two types of signatures, chances are that there are other appliances that could explain a 12 hour power bump...

Sorry to disappoint all the LED salespeople here, but I'll prolly replace my HPS's around the same time I replace my fuel cars with electric-- ie: when the technology gets the kinks worked out and becomes a financially viable option that has withstood some sort of test of time for quality.

Once my meter gets replaced with a smart meter, I will prolly shell out for a power conditioner on the same day, assuming there is some sort of real "tell" associated with Halides/ HPS's that clearly differentiates it from other appliances.

My question is - aside from the obvious wattage bump, are the Halide/HPS signatures so unique that it couldn't be anything else? Or is it simply just a resistive vs inductive signature?

-I'm a legit meduser within guidelines, but I'm in a conservative county and really don't want to have an LEO living room experience where I have a lot of 'splainin to do if I can avoid it.

Sounds like a Poster reason to switch to LED to me.

I would think differently of your statement if you wouldn't be selling those and especially aggressively defend ANY and EVERY slightest attempt people doubting the effectiveness of the product you are selling.

Great way to promote your product to someone who already got busted and has other shit to worry about.

Public Visitor Message left for me by LEDGirl
EDIT: Interestingly now that message has vanished.
Yeah it's so sad that if he wouldn't have been dumb enough to have a $900 power bill, that he might not be going through legal trouble right now. Even more sad that if he would have spent money on LED's instead of his ridiculous HID setup, he'd have avoided all of it from the get go. Keep feeling vindicated though by trashing us for pointing out a VALUABLE point to growing with LED's. Keep being ignorant, it's only going to hurt you in the end.

LEDGirl
,

I am going to reply to the publicly visible Visitor message you left me with someone else's excellent response left a page back:

I find it despicable that this guy has posted a thread lamenting his situation having just been busted and you're actually in here trying to sell him grow lights. You are not subtle and frankly the constant beating of the LED war drum and attempts to proselytize the community to your cause in order to pad your own pockets do nothing to make me ever want to be a customer of your company.
peace

Anyone interested in joining a team / task force assigned with the duty of putting LEDGirl in prison? She is clearly designing, manufacturing & selling equipment with full knowledge that it will be used for illegal manufacturing, and condoning using for illegal/illicit purposes.

Then, we can create a thread and talk about "if that bitch wasn't stupid enough to be posting blatant, rude, inappropriate things, she'd still be making money selling those silly LED units rather than being forced to lick Big Bertha the cellmate's cooter."

no

there are more constructive ways to than some sort of snitching.

I love the idea of led's & will be making my own very soon.

High power wide angles are becoming very cheap.

That's not cool even as a joke...

I wouldn't do that to my worst enemy let alone someone who never did me any harm. I am not an LEDgirl fan, nor do I intend to buy any of her gear, but there is no need to talk that way about anyone.

Wow, that's really slimy of you LEDGirl, how the hell do you sleep at night?

It's not "stupid" to have a high electric bill, its a cost of doing business.

I know I'm a commercial grower and in no way part of your target market, but jeez, show some respect for your potential customers willya?
