This thread is a fantastic example of how "grass roots advertising" has evolved...it can be one of the most effective marketing tools at one's disposal when done correctly...or the nail in the coffin of an entire business when people like LEDGirl are at the helm.
Personally, I was seriously considering purchasing an LED system to play around with from HG...and that one post sealed the deal on my not getting one. I'm quite sure that I'm not the only one who feels this way.

I don't see what the trouble is here with LEDgirl. We all know that she is selling her stuff but that doesn't mean that she doesn't have a point.
From the point of view of absolute stealth, LED is the future. Less heat meaning lower ventilation rates and better odor control, less electric usage and more bud production for the amount of electricity expended. Two of the LEO's biggest tools in developing a case are FLIR and power usage, both of which are big drawbacks of HID. Smart meters tip the balance toward LED even more.
This thread shouldn't devolve into an LED/HID debate. It is a thread about how a high power bill helped lead cops to a grow. I'm betting the OP will be spending a lot more on lawyers than he would have spent on buying LED. I don't say this to be mean to the OP but it is a factor more growers should consider.

The issue with LEDGirl has nothing to do with LED vs. HPS; it has everything to do with her lack of compassion and respect for one of our brothers who had to hit the dirt. Instead of coming in the thread and expressing her condolences for his situation, she saw it as a sales opportunity while he was down and desperate. That is, as I mentioned above, despicable and an indication of her (and her company's) true colors.
i dont belive that hps has a "signature" until someone provides a REPUTABLE source link to that..but assuming they do, couldn't you just get an E-Ballast as they run at much higher freq's (hence why you cannot use CMH with them..and also why the earlier ones caused interference)

I've subscribed to most of the test grows on ICMAG and elsewhere. She is her own worst enemy sometimes.

If that was a sales pitch, it was pretty low key. Her private message to SH was unfortunate. As was the making public of that message.
This is all I'm going to say about the matter. I don't want this thread turn out into LED vs. HID or LEDgirl vs. all that is holy here at ICMAG. I like this sub-forum the best in that it is the one that has provided me with information that will keep my ass out of jail.
I grow using 300 W of HPS right now. If I decide to upgrade, it will most likely be to an LED because my concern is mostly about heat, odor control and power consumption.

Power conditioners do not change the amplitude of the sine wave of alternating current. PC's smooth voltage irregularities. Using one will not reduce the signature inductive load that oscilliscopes(digital power meters) can detect.
Having said that, it seems Leo will be hard pressed to get warrants based solely on inductive loads being present in your grow. Any electromagnet will produce this load, such as a computer power supply or motor. Granted not for twelve continous hours.
Virtually all power related busts have been do to high power bills used in conjunction with other evidence, snitches, purchases, trash pulls, etc.

This LED vs. HPS discussion has become so contentious that it isn't even worth talking about anymore as it just causes flame war, senseless arguments and ultimately results in know-it-alls like you mounting baseless attacks on people looking to contribute their opinions.
