Greetings all. I been mostly away for a few days due to a bit of health issues, but that's done now, and all is OK. I really need to drop in here more often and defend my newbee status. LOL - with that I can get away with asking dumb questions.

MGJ so Sparky already tried the airline in the soil HUH? I guess I'll have to PM him and see what he thought about it?

Did TP come over last night with his electric pruning shears and help you top your plants? That definitely looks like something he has done lately.

Alright I have done some tinkering in my barn and this is what I came up with. I took 4 vaporizers and installed the hoses to a 4 foot tall shop fan. Now I have a few rolls of plastic and a couple of sleeves of duct tape.

This is my plan!!!!! I bring the plastic and duct tape over to your house. We seal the viewing room up air tight. We put the shop fan in the doorway and seal all around it. Everyone gets inside and we fire the fan and the vaporizers up. The room fills with vaped smoke and everyone's happy!!!!! No more fighting over the vape-vac!!!!!! Garlic solved the problems between the old guys and the young whippersnappers.

For those of us who sleep with a CPAP machine as some do, and also have oxygen injection, you've got the tools for an experiment. In my house the oxygen generator sits right next to the bed - though a bit noisy - ya get used to it. They're designed to run 24/7 for folks who need it. Well, what if ya took the output of an oxygen generator and ran a tube to under your plants, maybe even with a stone buried in it for dispursion? Pure oxygen delivered directly to the roots, no nitrogen filled air, no CO2 leaking into the roots (put the machine outside the grow room). These things start at $100 on ebay, and $200 will get you one that will serve for a long time. As soon as I have the time, and facilities, I'm gonna get one and try it. I'm just too curious about it.

I've never tried it, and it will be a year - or more - before I can. I proposed this idea for hydro folks before in its own thread, and sparked much debate, but I don't believe anybody ever mentioned soil. And GCG, I don't think the dirt will clog the holes with the air flow coming out of the stones to push the dirt away. Again, I'm just speculating, you or others may know better.

Alright you gurus, have I gone off the deep end, or might there be something to this?

GCG - you're absolutely a genius. I'm doing my deep breathing exercises to take advantage of the opportunity. Uh, will our clothes smell? I got a pot sniffing ex-narc cat, and he meows when I smell like that.

However, I liked fighting over the hose. It's the only exercise I get.

Is that room gonna be ready soon? I'd like to make a contribution. I got a brick of hash here, but somebody else will have to carry it - my back hurts.

I did the rapid rooter thing with the air hose..the rapid rooter fizz bubbles like an air stone..worked killer for clone root development..
I as many have thought about the "airline in the soil" .. Growdoc's friend..I forget his name on here..he changed it or left..
anyway he tried it in a shallow tub..and said he couldn't pump any air through..
I was thinking in a potted plant situation the area where you might put a stone or leaky pipe using forced air..
might overly dry out the roots in that area..while helping roots a bit further away..
Pure O2 may oxidize the roots to no end..and a grow room is no place for a 100% oxygen..
you could have a fire so hot it only takes seconds to get the whole house going..and is counter-productive as it escapes into the leaves atmosphere..
The higher the O2 content of the air..the lower the flash point of any combustibles..
Petroleum products can ignite at room temperature in high levels of O2..
The air we breathe is about 21% O2, 78% Nitrogen, 1% other..
I watched this PhD in horticulture on PBS talk about container plants..he said use tall and narrow pots..
Tall so the water drains well (a pressure head is created) he said an experiment to prove this is;
take a sponge soak it wet and hold it horizontal..barely any water drains from the sponge..hold it vertically and water quickly runs out..
Narrow so the roots are that much closer to the edge(less distance to air)..re-pot when bound..
I've been using coir(coco) mixed with potting soil to aerate the soil..but it calls for twice as much watering..
I have thought about drilled out PVC 1/2"(12.7mm) drilled with holes..placed vertically in the soil..like air columns..emerging from top soil..
placed half the distance between plant and container..
It's a fine line between moisture & air..aeroponic growers know this..probably the best yielding method there is..but also the least forgiving..

I think you bring up some good points on pure oxygen in the room. Unless a guy did some fancy grow chambers it seems like a bad idea. Let's go with that...

Since I might have enought room for one more plant in the cab, I selected that Powerskunk that looks lst'ed and set it aside for transplant later. I can always set her behind the light if I need vertical space before flowering. The others - well it's gonna happen again if I don't cut them short, won't be ready for more plants in the cab for at least another 6-7 weeks. Usually when I trim I prefer to cut back to 2nd node a branch for safety, this time I took them back to first node on each branch. Took 2 cuts from the shortest node G99 ( pictured below ) to root. No more room for rooting - I'm all filled up! These G99 cuts will only get a cup of plain water, will change the water every day and wait...

Sweet. I think that self lst'ed plant might carrie the foxtail gene trait from the PPP. ITs only a guess but that plant was so far sativa it took my butt 75+ days flowering. It took less time when I used the Enhansed $50 400w HPS blub with the blue instead of my $20 homedepot 400w hps.

I'm sure a chopping like that, you'll get a good idea for which strains grow out better when chopped.
The only thing that would worry me is stressing the plants, like glasspackedbowl said, I myself might have waited till I had sexual ID. I'm sure you have enough ladies in the crowd though.

post pics of what it looks like when your done. I did somthing similar with my volcano i had a old divers helmet the metal ones with the hose connected to the head helmet and i put the hose on top of the volcano and was a high mofo!! it was awesome but thats also how i broke my first volcano when i was high above the clouds i looked in the mirror and saw how silly i looked and fell to the floro laughing and to the floor my volcano came with me but i had me a good laugh!

Sorry I was high...go figure...hehe..so I went off on a tangent again..back to the MGJ grow at hand..gave um a flat top with smooth fade eh..looking real butch..hehe
I've been thinking of doing the same to my clones..they are getting too big waiting for available space in the flower room..they should get in there this weekend..
The clones are very branch node like (staggered branches one branch per node)..I'm so used to single kola from seed plants..
they almost look foreign..they will be interesting to say the least..and as always there is an experiment..
I have two clones in 1 gal pots and two in 3.5 gal pots..I re-potted the two 3.5's a week ago..the 1 gal girls need water 3 times as often right now...
so far no big difference I can notice..I'll keep the two in 1g pots for a good while just for fun..let um get real bound this time..
then re-pot those two..so we'll see...

How about this then a net pot full of airstones..all plugged in and bubbling..airstones being the medium itself..
DWC style but net fully submerged..with more stones below...hmmm

Cool peace..but I'm saying..no hydroton or rocks...the net pot is full of active air stones..(the small ones are cylinders the size of 1/2 of a AA battery)..
They are coarse, inert and porous..using maybe ring manifolds, T's and say 4 or so control valves..so air flow could be tuned..
...but it might be overkill..the way you have drawn it seems workable..I would think hydroton or rocks might divert the bubbles in certain paths and miss others..but it may not matter that much..

Wow men, thx for keeping up an interesting conversation while I was out! :friends: I've been in bed a couple days, man this bug is like having sleeping sickness!

Quickie update - plants are doing well, the trimmed vegging plants are growing back and filling in. GPB, yes I checked flowers, the remaining plants are just starting to alternate branches on their oldest stems, the preflowers are looking female on the older stems but not completely declaring themselves yet. I would've put a cutting of each in a glass of water under 12/12 to check but just don't have the space right now.

Flowerin girls are starting to bud out nicely at 2 weeks, hope the stretch is over in another week or so. Still having a wee problem keeping the LS and TW green on PBPG, willl switch to 1/2 gro 1/2 bloom end of week. 90% fatality from damping off in both the wick cloner and the bubble cloner. The bubble cloner i was changing the water daily! The bottom of the cover snuck up on me - by the time the plants were sick it was too late to notice the gunk growing under the cover. Wick cloner was in a finished room this time so I can't blame the basement. Must live in Spore-ey Valley
