Move to Calif to grow medical bud *business idea* is it legit?

@MrDuck- go medical and get a plant/dry amount s420 exemption. explain your situation and the doctor should be fine writing you an exemption. Depending on your county you might not even need an exemption. Or, like Amstel said, grow trees and stay within sb420s limits. Peace out and good luck.

when you say "net me an extra $1500 a month", are you saying because it will save you $1500 or are you planning on slangin it for an extra $1500 a month?

Thanks for the quick reply. Before arriving at my current garden in my head I went through several revisions and just sort of came to the conclusion that a SOG was right for me (seemed like it would take less space and cause a couple less headaches).

If anyone is curious my ideal system would use purple T5s over a 30+ site aero. I've found a fixture that packs 648w over a little more than four square feet so it would be a matter of flowering the clones short and keeping stretch down. Maybe it will yield, maybe it won't but I think its worth a shot.

Oh, and I have set up a few soil micro SOGs so it wouldn't be my first grow.

I have a 30 plant count here in California. I am not "riding dirty".....

get a good doctor who will bump your plant count up.

Not to hijack but I figured the original poster's question was as answered as it was gonna get and since we had a lot of Cali traffic already flowing through here I thought I'd take advantage of it...

I've been reading about growing for the better part of a year now and it's now looking like it may be possible for me. I'm established in California, have a job that keeps my bills paid, and have been around these forums long enough to realize that most of the time a grower gets busted its because they wearn't following the basics (no tell, no smell, no flash, no apartments, tidy house, etc...)

I want to grow because it seems like a great hobby but if my hobby get net me an extra $1500 or so month that would be more than welcome. My problem is that the garden I've designed in my head would have me riding dirty (30 or so small plants in a SOG).

What advice would you give to a person in my circumstance? Thanks in advance.

purple t5s? wth? that i gotta see.

why not use CFLs?

That is one example but there are others on the market. I like tube type fluorescents because they would provide a completely even blanket of light to cover the canopy in a SOG without all the headaches of compacts (no remote ballasting, multiple sockets can get real messy, hard to properly reflect the light thats traveling upwards).

It just seems like a neater solution (albeit pricier) plus I'm really curious to see what pure spectrum can do. I read a recent LED grow log that was encouraging but even LEDs suffer from the fact that its a concentrated source of light. With the evenness of a tubular fluorescents I figure I can keep the fixture within inches of the canopy with each plant receiving the exact same amount of light as its neighbor.

I'm not claiming to have all the answers but I'm willing to be the guinea pig on this one.

Another great setup is the

biax t5's

those are worth looking into.

they have nice penetration for sure and are a very clean and cool setup for sure.

Do most doctors offer this or just a select few? I went medical a little less than a year ago so I would have easy access to high quality meds but I hadn't seriously thought about growing at the time so I didn't inquire about a bump in plant count.

Also considered but the only purple lights I could find on those were NLites, which at this point seem more like vaporware than anything...

Thanks again.

i would do mixed spectrum.. never seen all purple. whats the lumen output of those things? CFLs have a higher lumen to watt output than t5 from what i remember.. could always put mylar on the ceiling to reflect light back down with CFLs.. daisy chain the sockets.. idk man its ur grow if flouros work straight for you and give you the yield you want then go for it dude. no reason NOT to grow.

Seriously guys you are discussing Flouro's and CFL's and T5's in a thread about moving to California to grow commercial bud? LFMAO!

If you aren't running real HID's (400W+ HPS/MH/CMH or the SUN) you will be wasting our time if you are trying to make a living.

Hey freedomfghtr, I figure since this is a troll thread and all I could ask you a superfluous question.

Are you the dude who posted all that whatnot on how to start a legal collective in CA? If so could you repost that shit? Thanks.

I think freedomfghtr took it down and if his avatar means anything then he prolly got scared and asked that his threads and pics be taken down. I dont blame him one bit, although it was a BADASS thread.

The talk of flouros and CFLs is a conversation with this person FreedomFGHTR. $1500 a month is hardly commercial. I think the original poster got the point a while ago. This shit was derailed a few pages back by trolls. I'm out peace.

FreedomFGHTR,

Not so much looking to make a living as looking to enjoy a hobby and supplement. I figured I'd take advantage of the Cali traffic since the original poster's question was pretty much answered. I know full well that if you were looking to turn serious profit you'd want serveral 1Ks or 600Ws. At the very least I think its a worthwhile experiment.

Will most of the MJ Docs out here give you a prescription for more plants? Or are they hard to come by?

the only 1500 anything you will have going on is bulbs.

to be 'getting' an extra 1500 per month that means you're gonna need to be pushing out at least 5oz every month/30days. i have yet to see someone do that with flouros or cfls - and dont tell me "with a peprpetual harvet the potential is there to rake in 2lbs from flouros' cause thats about as bullshit as can be.

I am sure you can find some down on his luck loser at the bus stop though with $5 to buy a nickle bag of your weakly shwag.
