Fuck weedwacking. Next season you outta get a handful of goats. they have farmers that will send them out and just pick them up once the job is done. They will go to town, I wonder about the goat shit? Im sure its probably good for soil, like a good source of Nitrogen? While they are eating down your weeds they are composting the hillside at the some time. Just make sure if you have starts outside to put a fence around them, those goats will eat your plants up real quick

I almost got a pair of goats but the thought of them breaking loose and eating up my plants was too unbearable so I got a gas powered trimmer.

post 780, looks like they bounced back. those the ones the hoop-house fell on? mine aren't taking the transition outside very well. good thing i have a next wave going out soon. i'm going to protect them w/ shade cloth & put more effort in to hardening them off

crazy, i was thinkin about doing that but i want to use a bioengineered super smart colony of ants to carry the soil , and a team of enslaved ferrets to form the mounds

are you handwatering your mounds at first? did you make channels in the side to prevent erosion/runoff? any chance of pics? couldnt hurt. i learn slow

Making them by hand isn't too hard, just be mellow, smoke a J, out on some headphones and exercise those rake and shovel muscles lol

Yes hand Watered the first week or so, and my weekly aact application. But I also have been running the irrigation. Using 90 and 180 degree sprayers for the first time instead of in line pressure compensating drip emmiters.

As far as my dirt, one garden is new and the soil from Dave mixed with ag pac from ag mart. It sucks up water with zero pooling or puddling.

The second garden is established, but hadn't been used for years. Added a yard to existing 4 yard holes. Mounded those and found the soil to be a bit hydrophobic, less absorbing, ect. It's fine with the irrigation, but with tea and hand Watering it does tend to pool or run off, so I just do the tea slowly and back and forth from plant to plant ect, if that makes sense. Funny enough though the established garden is just a tad ahead of the new, but both are fine imho.

I won't be posting pics, but I'll send you a pm perhaps if so, probably not lol

Have a great day bro, your looking like your ahead of where you were last t year, eh?

Nice pics!

Mr C. i'm not forming each whole mound from scratch. i'm tryin to figure out the best way to turn my existing 800 gal pots into 5yard mounds.

yesterday i made one, removed the fabric liner from my 800gal pots, leaving just the hardware-cloth basket full of soil. then added another yard of dirt on too and shaped it into a mound. idk if that makes sense but i'll take a picture later.

it didnt work that well, the sides of the basket busted and made it hard to shape the mound properly. also i'm still tryin to figure out how to make channels like you were saying.

re: strains, out of that list, the Dream Lotus stands out. i have some going in veg and they all have a great blue dream structure and seem really vigorous

hope youre spring is going well.. peace!
Yeah i saw the pic. That thing looks like more than 5 yards! I would just cut the extra gopher wire out with tin snips. Maybe next one just cut the sides off first? Would be easier if you could start new ones right next to your existing. As for trenching just make like a 3ft shallow crater in the middle and then add rings around it with little walls. I use a hoe. Once your mound gets soaked it won't be a problem. And don't stress about the mound shape too much they always settle. I just made a bunch more i will get you a pic
Yeah the Dream Lotus is kind of disappointing! I was pumped on it but they are not very vigorous. I have one good girl that i planted so we'll see.
Springs going good buddy! Working away out here almost all plugged in

@mr chocolate , those pink panther crosses would be nice . the pink lotus i finished i had 4 , were awesome , finished early ,yield , bag appeal and smell (mold resistant ). sent some samples out today to be smoke tested for a few opinions . i,m keen to have another crack at them .thats all i,ve grown on that list, well except for the sky lotus . my guess is your already comfortable with that choice ;)

I transplanted 6 chin high pink lotus into 7yrd mounds yesterday! Stoked to see what they can do. I gave mine away last year and all my friends who got them said they were the favorite of the garden. I did one straight pink panther last year. It was a huge squatty hedge. Had a crazy smell and dense nugs but they head that deep embedded leafy structure. Was a bitch to trim. I have some beefy pink pantherXg13/hp in 7 gallons but i want the stretchers
Try the Sky Lotus! Thats the one for me. My best weed and every plant was a monster. That one could go 20lbs

My plants are 5 weeks old and about 7 plants popped pistils so far. I heard someone say you don't necessarily want the ones that show sex early since it might mean they can flower early? Ever heard this? My holes are ready and I'm using all my plants so they're going in anyway but I'm curious about that.

That's what I like to hear mr chocolate!

Between you and shcrews praising the sky lotus last year, I decided to devote about 1/4 or 1/5 of my garden to the sky lotus. I'm liking it's nice open structure.

I've got Yosemite girls coming up this weekend to party for my garden helper's birthday. Maybe I can PM pictures they'll likely violated terms of service. I'm telling you. Not Mariposa girls, girls that live in the Valley or Tulomne. Climber girls are hot and fit, and are not afraid of bugs, dirt, snakes or living in their cars. Go to the Mobil on Friday night best seared ahi you can get from a gas station, live music and after party at Wild Willy's.

Yah the babies are all looking pretty good. I dont have to worry about hardening them off cuz they've been outside for a month now.

Saw a few start flowering. weird, usually seed plants dont trigger like that. maybe i fucked up the light cycle when i put them out a month ago, they got light from 5am-10pm when they were inside. should still be plenty good ones for full-season though

see above^
That mounds ridiculous...great pics as always Motherlode is lookin' mighty fine...fuck you and your tacos
thanks man. Your spot is looking good too. very impressive what you did in the short time since you was out here trimmin last fall. yah my diet is about 90% mexican food at this point. what sucks though, is everyone stopped making tamales. i fucking love tamales.

Thanks for the advice. I can easily remove the sides of the 800gal baskets and pour dirt on top. BYF recommended the same thing. I just wanted to leave the sides on for extra gopher protection but hopefully it won't matter because otherwise the mounds wont be shaped right.

I'm on the fence about the Dream Lotus. I have one or two that are pretty vigorous. they all have blue-dream structure. We'll see if they make the final team.

thanks dude! i will definitely take your advice on the mounds, heh. And yes I am ahead of where i was last year, which is ahead of where i was the year before that, which is ahead of where i was the year before that, which is ahead of where i was the year before that.

however although we are entitled to our actions we are not entitled to the fruits of those actions. I am just stoked to be learning so much and playing with such nice strains in such a great climate

sounds like fun. one of my exes is a climber, she goes to yosemite all the time. i know a bunch of those type of people from santa cruz. they are chill, the girls are usually pretty cute although sometimes their oral hygiene can start slippin when they are campin out for a while, and thats a big thing for me i think.
Which mobil do you speak of
yah i'm wondering this too. i'm up in the hills pretty far from anything but sometimes i get bored enough to leave the reservation. Hella busy this week though. I want to get all my plants in the ground by this weekend!!

Your soil looks great. What mix did you end up going with? What compost?

Why the hell does mine have so much more sulfate and sodium and a lower pH? And so much more K?

How strange.
