Your soil looks great. What mix did you end up going with? What compost?

Why the hell does mine have so much more sulfate and sodium and a lower pH? And so much more K?

How strange.
that's the coots mix with oly mountain fish compost.

it's also a year old and had full-season plants so maybe different now than when it was just mixed

yah it was directed at me

Ok that makes sense. I thought it was the new batch. It probably had the same excesses in the beginning because it looks like it's pretty on point for your next run. I think you'll need micros, a little K, and a little Na. And something to lower pH. You didn't get the N test so you'll just have to watch for deficiency. Obviously I'm no expert but I just wanted to give you an idea.

What kind of compost do you use? That mix is 33% compost. Often times high K levels are a result of green waste compost. Could be the culprit of high Na too.

finally got my soil test back from Logan Labs. sending it to Leadsled for his recommendations . i really dont know what to make of it although it seems like the numbers aren't too bad

I hope all the necessary amendments are easy to get.. i want to get the old soil amended/mixed this week so i can plant my starts this weekend

Pretty incredible that your organic matter and total exchange capacity is still so high. I wouldn't worry much about the pH, but Ive had good results bringing pH down with dolomite lime, but your calcium levels are already pretty high so I wouldnt even do that. In my experience, the plants do a pretty good job adjusting the pH as long as its not too far outta wack and we keep the biome fed. With all that organic matter your soil must hold water pretty well. Adding new soil on top of that? If its well balanced, I'd just throw it on top without a worry. Plant that legume cover and let it ride. But I'm no scientist so take my advice with a grain of salt.

Good luck on your planting. I'm sure you'll rock it again this year.

Whats your IPM looking like? Doesnt look like you've seen any weird twisting as of yet, but you doing anything preventative? What did ever come of that last season? I got some cuts from the bolt this year that showed some of that early on. I heat treated, bombed with sulfur, and started on the pfr97. Seems to have knocked em out. Sulfur did burn the girls some though..

i guess my mix last year must have been pretty on point then?

yah it holds water pretty well i think. good to know the pH is ok.

I would love to just put the new soil on top of the old soil, would be much easier than amending all the old 800's. But i asked leadsled for recommendations based on the logan labs report and i am interested in what he has to say. If possible i will do what he suggests and then put the new dirt on top.

But I did do what you said with the first mound, formed it without amending the old soil. First plant in the ground (Ancient OG):

I sprayed once with PFR-97 when they first went into the hoop-houses. I plant to spray again soon with neem oil and PFR-97, and will do that biweekly or monthly until september. Also will probably release predator mites when they are all in the ground and established. any advice i'm all ears

Cooler weather Thursday should make work much easier, and this weekend is also going to also be cooler. Great for transplanting!
Can't wait to see how you do this year, love watching you produce monsters!

Saturday is the full moon, but they are calling for rain in my parts. I might just hold of till Sunday to put the ones i have sexed in their new home. Looks good Shcrews, I'm not seeing much perlite in your pic, but lots of lava rock. I usually have a good amount of both in my soil. maybe ill try going with half the perlite i usually add to the soil that has the lava rock and perlite already in it. Good luck this season

thanks. I dont think there's any perlite in any of my soil except the Vermifire from my first year at this spot.

I'm gettin ready to start the orgy. got 3 AOG males picked out, and a few AOG females. Also gonna throw some other females in there too since i have so many extra starts. I want to make AOG x Sunshine Daydream, AOG x Strawberry Milk, AOG x South Fork Kush, AOG x Zelda..... My buddy gave me a cut of Black Lime so maybe that too.
