I used this super crazy high tech way to make my mounds this year.... A rake and a shovel
crazy, i was thinkin about doing that but i want to use a bioengineered super smart colony of ants to carry the soil , and a team of enslaved ferrets to form the mounds

are you handwatering your mounds at first? did you make channels in the side to prevent erosion/runoff? any chance of pics? couldnt hurt. i learn slow

Obviously you can grow in flat top containers like 800 gallon pots. But one of the main advantages of mounds is that they move water away from the main stalk into the root tips, where water and nutes are actually taken up. That prevents the main stalk from sitting in water where fungus can start up easily.
Ive never had issues with fungus in this climate (except pm), but it's good to know that. switching to mounds is probably the right move it seems:thank you:

A guy on Instagram had an idea on making mounds I wanted to borrow.
that's cool but I already have most of the soil in 800gal baskets, i'm going to remove the sidesand add more dirt on top and then shape into a mound. the first one came out ok but i didnt' take the sides off the basket so the mound is a little deformed.

I am growing 4 strains this year and will have the opportunity to do some breeding. However I cannot decide which male to use to pollinate the girls.
use the one you bred yourself

Dude. Girls that work is Yosemite are so much fun! I have some over to my place to work and play often. My girlfriend used to work there.
Go to the Mobil on Tioga on Friday nights. Also find yourself a "Snorkel" wood fired hot tub for at home. I payed $300 for the one at my old place.

anyone know how big should my plants be before i start doing sap testing?

thanks. peace! :woohoo:

I know this doesn't answer your question, I don't have any experience doing these test. Your post got me researching about it and I found this useful.
"Time of day. Temperature and time of day might influence plant sap nitrate content. Making readings consistently between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. will yield the most consistent results. Reasonable standardization of temperature and weather conditions under which sampling is carried out will help provide for more consistent test results."

“Samples are often contaminated by fungicides, nutrient sprays, soil, or dust. Data obtained from contaminated leaf samples will be misleading. Decontamination of some dust or soil is best accomplished by quickly rinsing in a dilute non-phosphate detergent solution (2%) followed by two distilled water rinses. Tap water should not be used because it can be high in certain nutrients such as Ca, Fe, Mg, or S. Leaf samples should be washed quickly to minimize the leaching of certain nutrients (especially K) from the leaves.”

“Following rinsing, the sample should be blotted dry with absorbent paper. The samples should be air-dried for several hours before shipment. If a plant analysis mailing kit is not available, the samples should be wrapped in fresh absorbent paper and placed in a large envelope (plastic bags must not be used). The sample should be shipped or delivered immediately to the soil and plant analysis laboratory. An air-dried sample, if loosely packed to avoid rotting, will last two to three days before decomposition begins.”

As soon as you have leaf to spare.

Do it in the morning within two hours of the sun coming up (nova crop control) because the sun will dry out your leaf during the day and your reading will go up. Squeeze them as soon as you cut them, again leaving the laying around will dehydrate them and give you high numbers.

Try to do it at exactly the same time when you do. That makes for a better comparison throughout the grow.
