sweet, let the season begin! what do you mean about the chem male from south fork?

the seeds had a good germination rate so that's a start

He recommended black gold to me, as its what he uses, I dont ph my water, dont think he does either. I ran some water thru a pot, collected run off, and took a ph reading. Seedlings look great.

cool, thanks man. my cousin checked my well water with his meter and got 8.5 which seemed pretty high but it sounds like runoff ph is what matters most since the soil is a buffer. i'll check when i pop seeds in a few weeks. i'm only growing 6 plants for personal/family use so i wanna do this right. hoping to be chopping some SoCal monsters by the end of the year.

schrews, looks awesome! i feel you on the work piling up. so much to do in spring - and my spot has suffered some damage from all the rain, to add to it. i'm wondering: why did you decide to do 5-yard mounds instead of pots (aside from the size)? are mounds better somehow, or easier to work with?

good luck this season, and thanks so much for sharing your work! it's so helpful and such an inspiration :)

Noob question. If i started seeds in Black n Gold and when upping my pot size containers to a different soil, would it be ok? Im pretty old school even though I'm 32 my pops is super old school, we don't PH anything. We use tap water but run it under bubblers for at least 4+hours. We do have a PPM, PH, getto type meter that we used for eb and flow years ago

Well ideally you want balanced lab tested soil...thats what counts...thats your success...if you have trouble transplanting something is off. But thats what Shcrews did last year and this year it looks like. Its what I'm doing too.

So far a week and just a we'll get to it soon and it's March. Someone mentioned in another thread Micheal Astera does consults too and it sounded pretty legit but not sure on cost. I guess you get what you pay for.

Been working with lead sled. We designed a new soil mix from compost in my area. Already tested the base mix, not amending and will be testing again. I am optimistic this mix will be of high quality, and has cost me about 95$ a yard.

I have to hand mix 48 yards, but at least I know my soil will be quality, and exactly what I want. More than I can say for any soil I have ever bought.

Shit. Thanks Rolling Stoner. Sometimes I overlook the most obvious things that I already know.......

Not to mention he's growing 8x the amount he needs so he still has to make selections.

Good work schrews. Glad to see yet another guy Killin it in this incredible foothill climate. Gorgeous out past few days and besides a couple cool nights, extended forecast seems pretty good.

Shcrews, you said you transplant into 5-10 gal pots-- how large do they get before you plant them and do they get close to root bound? I'm wondering if I get clones now if they'll outgrow 7 gal pots before June 1st. I imagine if your vigorous seeds are ok for 2.5 months in 10 gallons teen I'm probably ok.
