Midwest Outdoors IV 2006 Season

With the exception of a couple Sativa Dominent plants, I've found most plants start to flower somewhere between 10-11 hours of darkness, or about mid August.

I'm @ 41.9 N so that gives me roughly a 78 day window to allow them to finish flowering before the hard frost hits.

You'll gain a few flowering days South of my latitude, or lose a few, if you live north.

good luck

Hmm 78 days about I have got some Arjan's Haze #2 x NL5 haze freebies from MOD he say's they take about 9-10 weeks to finish so if they did start flowering mid August they could make it. But then again they are probley more Sativa dominent. I've been pondering wether to crack a few of these and see how they will do. What do you guys and maybee gals think I should do? :chin:

I'm always for crackin new seed and giving things a try. You'll never know for sure unless you do.

Pure- some great shots there. Looks like a good spot, similar to ones i use.

Last night marked the beginning of my main plots' season. Should be pretty good germination weather for the next couple days.

Found some morels in my backyard yesterday and today. Boy are they filling. Definately some good shrooms. The biggest one is at least 8 inches long!

Hey Nickel Bag, thanks for the info, I will be putting them out 1st week of may. Im going to try and dig holes with a gas posthole digger and fill them with my soil mix, mabey put some cow manure in bottom. The only prop. I see is the tree canopy is quite heavy here so hope they do well.
Thanks again

You got missed? That was a pretty good sized storm too. There should be some more coming tomorrow afternoon and maybe thursday. Saturday is forcast for the temp to get down fairly low again, 43. Should be fine with lots of soil moisture to keep temperature change slow.

got hit with about a a 1/2 inch of rain was needed, will check the plants tomorrow as there was some pretty good winds too :)

Whats up everyone! I'll be trying my 3rd season of outdoor growing this year. Hopefully this will be the year that I actually harvest a plant before rippers or mother nature take them from me...
Right now I've only found enough good plots for 10-15 plants at 2-4 plants per spot. I've had 100% germ rate with my seedlings that I'm vegging for about 2 weeks before I put them out. They're about 2 days from seed now. I've started 4 strains, with 4 seedlings from each, so 16 little ones.
Ice x Papaya
(Kush x Black Domina) x Papaya
and two strains that my uncle has been growing in the next state over for about 20 years now, strains unknown...

Manure is a very rich source of nutes after it has decomposed. In it's fresh state, their is way to much Nitrogen from the urine.

Putting it at the bottom of the hole doesnt do much good. When the roots reach it, it is toxic. Composted manure works best as a top dressing. Water will dissolve the nutes and carry them into the root zone.

Nature abhors a vacuum. If there is Sunlight and moisture, plants will expand to fill the space. If the canopy is 90% solid, your plants will be starved for energy.

You want a minimum of 6 hours of direct Sunlight, the best Sunlight is the 3 hour before and after noon (1:00 PM Daylight saving time).

Look for a site where you can see 90 degrees of the Southern sky. You might have to do some pruning of the surrounding vegetation to get that.

Hey all whats the news from the MW? Out of 16 plants started I have a total of 6 left and 3 of them are still getting nursed. I planted 5 about 4 weeks ago and the next day I went back and something had dug all my holes up bastards so there's 5 down. 2 Weeks later I put in 8 more and they were fine for a week and then one night something ate them probley a deer but 3 of them made it so far. I put rocks around the holes so animals couldn't dig them up but now they are just eating them so I guess I will have to get some chiken wire around them which I hate doing because it's easier to see than a plant I'll get some pictures up this weekend or so. What I have left are 1 Passion #1, 1 Big Bud, 2 Holands hope, 1 SC-99, and 1 Speed Queen. So I am poping some more seeds and poped some of the freebies I got about a week ago and they all came up so I also have some Arjain's haze 2x NL haze 5.

Finally, all the seeds that are going out this year are out. The "pine spot" has a little over 30 north jam seeds, 15 BOG medely, and 10 Sunshine #2 (DC x Brazilian punch/sunshine).

The creek spot has a bagseed plant that germinated in april, and 20 north jam beans germing in a single creek silt soil hole. Very good dirt. They will be moved once they germ, they were just put there sunday, and yesterday was the first day of rain since then.

Last years spot has only 6 large prepped holes. A whole vial of seed (~30 seeds) was sown there friday. 4 to a hole in promix BX with the remaining seeds were sown just outside the water bottle cylinders. The extras (besides the 4) will be transplanted into new minimally prepped holes.

And last but not least, there are the 4 seeds that were germinated early/mid april at another secret location. 2 North Jams and 2 bagseeds. They will get only 1 or 2 top dressings of guano. they were planted in indian style holes dug with a stick in a bramble thorn patch.

Wow didn't realize it but that puts me up to 109 seeds out for 2006! Should be able to finally get my years worth of homegrown flowers, after 5 whole years of growin.

I gave away my freebies (S. African Durban Poison x Sk#1 and Mexican Sativa) this year like you're supposed to. Really, i just didnt want to deal with low germination rates or hermis. Plus, i wanted to get to see more of my babies grow up.

Some interesting progeny from the North Jam crosses......These aren't mine, they're my buddy's. I won't be using flats until cannabis is legal. They dry out too easily, and require watering after just a day or 2 of sun.

Pipeline- Just looking at the whitehousedrugpolicy page sends me into a homicidal rage. That present propiganda is fucking hilarious though.

Hi all. I just ordered some seed ISSXJAMAICAN, and ISSXKUSH AND POWER MALAWI, they will get here about 15th will I be able to still put them outside and have them finnish in time....I'm at 45n50...
I allready have some skunk and northern berry out they look good about 18" tall now. I have 15 lowryder and 5 wwxnycd in a hoop house the lowryder is about 3 weeks from harvest.
How are you fellows doing so far..

ubenhadd, they should finish fine, just wont get quite as large as the early girls. Which is good if you are trying to grow where they could get seen (and ripped) better to have several smaller plants than none at all.

PureSativa420, I was able to check on mine for the first time since I planted, about 20 days ago. HFS, they had gone from 6" stems to about 18" bushes :) I about shit down both legs. We had a few well timed rains and really warm temps for this time of year. Hope the rain keeps coming, makes for less work watering and IMHO, the girls can tell the difference all tho I am lucky to be next to a lake, keep a 5 gal bucket with a long rope on it and watering isn't that bad.

Good luck, Nickel
