Great thread @Tangwena I'm going to enjoy reading through this.

Has anyone tried adding other herbs to their cobs? I was thinking about the possible synergistic effects. It would be interesting to see how the cure would affect it too.

Just a few categories/groups, but many more:

Adaptogen herbs such as Rhodiola Rosea - reduces stress while enhancing mental clarity, which can support emotional openness and empathy.

Anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) herbs such as Passionflower - relieves anxiety, reduces stress, promotes relaxation and sleep.

Empathogenic / Mood-Enhancing herbs such as Blue Lotus - induces mild euphoria, enhances emotional clarity and spiritual awareness.

And many more categories with countless herbs that are edible and/or smokable.

----------

There's so many medicinal herbs out there, and the possibilities can be endless. A combination of 2 or more herbs promoting that effect you want - medicinal or recreational.

Of course if you're using more than two herbs, you'd need to do research on whether it's a safe combination. And for consumption - whether it's a smokable cob or just an edible cob.

Just been thinking

@spacemanj I have fermented Vitis vinifera L, Artemisia annua, Urtica and many other herbs in the same way. These fermented herbs smell and taste wonderful as a tea.

Interesting your getting into the realm of medicine and wellness a hell of a lot of work.
I'm still in awe at the effects different strains and even individual plants can have not to mention different cures its a life long study imo.

Tailoring the effects to create medicines is possible even without additional herbs believe me.
Its like the universe, its beyond my understanding. I am just happy to have different effects for different occasions.
Hopefully someone can find their own medicine by practice.
I already have pick me ups, energy and euphoria boosters plus party animal cobs its amazing what effects you can create with the right plant or mix of plants just using cannabis alone.

I am sure they will cure nicely just keep them sealed in the bag.
Put it away somewhere warm room temp is ok and just give it a month or two to work.

@Tangwena 6 month check in.

Full disclosure this was the first attempt, it turned out way darker than I expected. I tried some last night later in the evening and fell asleep before the onset. In the am when I woke up I felt off then I took the morning piss and looked in the mirror almost a shroom effect to much so I had a "sick" today. Not sure how much I ate but obviously too much.

Depending of course on what you used to make the cob the effects can be almost anything.
That looks over fermented to me which effects the taste and makes the high very deep and even narcotic if the strain was that way inclined.
I would say from your reaction you had an overdose, very easy to do on the darker cobs.

I know personally I prefer the more terpy colorful cures.
I had a Panama cob years ago that looked like that and I'm still scared to use it very hallucinogenic seeing and hearing things that were not there ect.
I prefer euphoric energizing or trippy happy party animal effects.

I suggest you try a smaller dose in the morning so you can get a feel for the effects before letting it loose on your mind while your trying to sleep.
Non of the strains I use would allow me to sleep unless it was a very large dose and then it would be more like a coma with wild dreams ha ha.

The best way is to smoke a pin joint it will give you an idea of the effects quickly.
Also if its a sativa or sativa leaning hybrid its not wise to take it (chewed) later than midday as a good cob will last 5 to even 12 hours.
If chewing you really need to plan your day as they can take ages to wear off and if you dont like the high your kind of stuck with it until it wears off.

I use energizing plants for my cobs and never chew later than midday unless I'm going out to a party that night then it doesn't matter obviously.

Ace Panama x Mulanje 2 months aged out for drying.
Its a terp fest as you would expect with those 2 parents.
Just trying some now, too early by far but the aroma I just had to it tasted so good ha ha.
I cut these pieces of the cobs for my daily bag she is a beauty the high is peeling the skin off my face and its only been 15 mins ha ha.

When you break it open its like sweet pine disinfectant with the Panama funk you just know its going to be a wild wild ride.
Check out the crystals already its going to be like a sugar cubed in 9 months time ha ha.

I found this video from the International Guild of Knot Tyers and they have a cool way of compressing a big roll of tobacco with rope. It looks similar to cob curing. Its perique style.

This is very similar to how Mapacho (true heirloom tobacco) is produced in the Amazon jungle. Whenever I would purchase some it came as a compressed log that was wrapped in bamboo. It would still be moist when the log was sliced and had to be left out to dry in the sun for an hour or so to make it smokeable. Fermented and compressed this tobacco is truly hallucinogenic 😵‍💫 a truly amazing experience 🙏🏼

Opened up some Lebanese genetics today. 4 months old so far with a lovely floral, spicy, hash scent. This plant dried more than intended so the cure isn’t that dark. I have other Lebanese that were much wetter and thus came out darker and have a sweeter scent like candy fruit mixed with cedar and incense spices. Gave this one a test chew a few minutes ago. 0.4g still waiting for it to really come on 😁

The darker Lebanese cured in Banana Petals. They are sitting on the drying rack before going into long term storage. These are very sweet and I feel the banana petals have added an extremely subtle banana sweetness to the herb. The herb itself is grape candy, rose, cedar, and hash 🥰

@Tangwena how you get on every cob that white thing i forget how i called , but i know that thing happens to aged beef too , i bet that thing its powerfull , after how many weeks months to get to that ?
It occurs during aging after the final dry 6 to 9 months later if its sealed up nicely.
Its like mineral salts very small crystals white is the commonest color but you can get all kinds of different colors others are brown sugar, golden sugar, red sugar ect.
To me its a sign of a well cured and aged cob.
I remember getting some Malawi Gold cobs back in the day.
They were golden and stringy like rolling tobacco but in the center was all these golden crystals like castor sugar.
When we smoked it mayhem ensued everyone was tripping out on a different tangent ha ha good memories.
