Tried making a couple of the drier brick like cobs. 60% from Grove bags.
A Panama/Pakistani cross and a more modern hybrid.
I mostly intend to vape unless I really get into chewing.

I used the bag like a sushi roller to help compress.

Princess Buttercup - dirty blonde x white truffle
1000021708.jpg
I used the spoon handle to get the corners good since it was larger

1000021715.jpg

I made this one thicker to see if that helps with crystal formation.

Made another drier/terpy brick like cob from my seeded Mountain Gold.
For right now I'm making them thicker like a brick compared to a couple thinner candy bar types I made earlier.

Don't know if the thickness makes any difference. Just keeping lots of notes at this point.

My seed increase went well. 🫘

More thoughts about pressure.
It could be a key component to the change or it could just be the increased anaerobic conditions brought about by the increased pressure. 🤔

Does the pressing, wrapping, twisting produce some of the effects? Redistribution of juices, ect.
Or was that simply a way to achieve what we now achieve with the vacuum sealer?

How much pressure is necessary?
They went to a lot of trouble for the perique. A lot of extra wrapping and twisting.
Or is just the vacuum enough?

I have these bricks and candy bars I've made up. I squished them best I could by hand and then let the vacuum do the heavy lifting.
1000021746.jpg

1000021747.jpg
My thoughts are I could do added pressure while they are still under vacuum.
Placed between these slabs of wood I could add a cinder block on top for weight/added pressure?
1000021748.jpg

What's the group think? Who's played around with this?
Any perceived benefit?

Nice range of experiments my friend doing as you are doing will provide you with a lot of the answers you seek.
Yes they all create differing effects within the cure and the result will be what dictates your prefered method going forward and the only way for you to find which you prefer is by doing what you are doing.
I am still experimenting myself every cure, just little tweeks here and there to try and improve the result every time.
Its a very addictive pastime and involves a lot of experimentation. You will know when your on the right track by the aroma, taste and lastly the effects.
You have to remember I never saw how the cobs I bought were made only the results all I was trying to do was reverse engineer them.
It took years of experimentation to get where I am today and there are still secrets I dont know about some of the cures.
I remember the first time I sniffed some bud I accidentally fermented the aroma told me I was on the right track immediately.
I remember the aroma and taste of the cobs I used to buy and now I'm able to reproduce my favorite cures everytime.
Its just a matter of getting the right genetics, growing them correctly, harvesting them at their peak and then curing them correctly.
As you can see a hell of a lot of variables without even starting the cure ha ha.

OK, I'll admit it!!! I might need an intervention!!!!!
I have 75 10 g. cobs at this point and I have one plant left. I will probably harvest it tomorrow. I was going to leave it so as to give me a range of maturity...we'll see.
Anyway, here are the latest 8 - finished the sweat and will dry overnight and start the cure..... the two at the bottom right are infused with molasses just to see what happens...

and a bit closer....
DSC06121.JPG

I also have made a couple of small jars of dust and have about 16 mason jars, mostly Mulanje.....things have gotten out of control!!!!!:whee::groupwave::whee:
Also, I tried a new (to me) method of watering... I just used a piece of pipe with a lot of holes in the bottom piece. It lays on the bottom and that's it!!! Then fill 'er up with soil, drainage holes about 2" from the bottom...this is the first one that I have emptied...I think the roots look good. I just add water until it starts leaking out.

I should add that I am saving my decently formed quadlined stalks - I will let them dry real well and am going to try using them for small light table legs.

Awesome cobs the ones in the pick below look killer.
I'm just blown away brother your going to have to donate more than a few to deserving people I'm sure.
Cant wait to see what they come out like in a few months time.
Then after a year it will be mind blowing ha ha.

i got bud that has been dried for 3 days till crisp out almost ready ,after i sweat the buds in open closed room with the buds spreded on a surface an overnight at room temps , and in the morning basicaly after the overnight sweat i start the cure by just tossin all the buds in a vacsealbag and from that point i want to open after a week just to see if theres any moisture build up and if needed an air dry, and after basicaly i would only open the bag to air dry it only when i would see color changes in the bag and that would be all , i think it should work right , i dried the pot more so to minize the burpin, it should be ok right ?

Well maybe,
In my limited experience 3 days is rushing it. It might feel crispy but there is "bound water" trapped inside.
You want some as part of the process to kickstart things but not too much.
I jumped the gun on my second one and I've been a little concerned.

However some prefer the darker cures from what they've posted and possibly this could be one of them.
Keep a good eye on it.
Consider letting it sit out a bit and dry some more before you start If you haven't cobbed it already.

@moose/MI i dont dry on branches , i cut all as individual buds straight from plant and it dried in 3 days trust me , and when in morning after overnight sweat basicaly 4th day ,the buds were bendy nice dry to touch , everything smelled very good and smokes good so in theory i think nothing cant go wrong even if i open the bag only when i see color changes in the bag in the buds to open dry it

@Landwolf your prior post reminded me to take some photos of the Amazonian tobacco logs. The tobacco is heavily compressed, and soaked in cane spirits to enhance the cure. Super moist in the middle and highly potent. It’s like a kilo sized cob 😁

Whoa @Baba Karuna , those are impressive tobacco logs, "kilo sized cob" has me thinking... :)

One of my other passions is finely aged rums, I could go on..., but tobacco soaked in cane spirits (Rum) sounds interesting. It's been many, many years since I last smoked tobacco, but it sounds intriguing nonetheless! Cheers, and thanks for sharing :)

Heyhey ☀️

Thank you Brother for weighting your Dose 💚 it would be so awsome if more people could do that, to give me cobnoob a better understanding of calculating the Dose and manage my expectations 😅

Your Cobs Look delicious 🤤🤤

Have Great Weekend Friends 🪬
I always make sure to weigh it out because it’s easy to overdose on this. 0.25-0.4g is my sweet spot. I take 0.5-0.7g if I want to become terminally chill 😎 I haven’t gone above 0.7g yet. It’s so strong that I’m completely satisfied with so little. Good thing my wife likes to vaporize or else I would run out of storage space. 😁🙏🏼

Well in Malawi they say cobs should be the size of a big mans dick so they look about spot on for a Malawian.
I hasten to add mine are based on my birth date size due to lack of buds ha ha.

Just a few shots of some early cobs. The smallest is the darkest. It was wetter goin in the sealed bag but they all smell good. Happy Sunday ya filthy cobheads!!! 😎✌️ View attachment 19097806 View attachment 19097807 View attachment 19097808 View attachment 19097809 View attachment 19097810
Thats the criteria it smells good therefor it is.
I spent yesterday walking around with a bit of cob in a zip lock bag in my pocket just to get that heavenly scent wafting around me all day bliss.
