Magic Mushroom Grow Kit?

I put the lime in the coconut and mixed it all up. Then I read the instructions…
I didn’t read the first part about inoculating the grain.
I mixed the grain with the substrate without inoculating.
I ordered more grain, but can the substrate still be used containing the extra grain?

Yes but it will take a while for the mycelium to colonize the substrate.

Hawaiian and Amazonian were the go-to for size but I found Aussie and Z were absolutely the yielders.
I never let them get larger than tips of the shroom with veil still intact. Sometimes even smaller. Very immature; more potent that way per gram, from what I've read. Harvested with a sterile x-acto blade that's been dipped in alcohol and dried off. Some say the mycelium is even more potent yet. I've read of people making a slurry or quasi smoothie with the mycelium.

I've never harvested until the veil was about to break or very soon after.

I stopped trying exacto blade harvesting after the very first grow.

Twist at the base and clean that base with a knife.

Don't forget to soak before the next flush...

I have an atomizer/micro-mist cool air vaporizer that runs through a T fitting to the 2 10-gallon aquariums' external most lids, with the mister shield in place at an angle internally, similar to the old PF Tek method of a mister shield.. All custom crafted.

I never soak directly onto the cakes.

There's a semi-sealed inlet port for the duct hose that runs from the vaporizer to the inlets on the exterior lid of each aquarium, and then a passive flap of plastic in the (diagonally) opposing corner of the external lid on both aquariums. The inlet of ducting carrying the vapor mist enters in one corner of the exterior lid, and the passive outlet with a flap of plastic baggie taped on one side of the flap, is located in the opposing diagonal corner.

damned near automated, but for removing excess moisture from the aquariums with a battery acid baster type syringe/rubber bulb and stem.

And the part about not letting the vaporizer run out of distilled water. That's an important piece, too. :)

Thanks guys.
Good to see some familiar names here. Just starting out. Got some catching up to do. I figured if they were going to start selling spores downtown, I was going to take a drive. Pretty girl sold me a bag of culinary mushrooms as well. Kings trumpet, lions mane, and some yellow chanterelles.

I did order another grain bag. Give the mycelium a head start.
I’ll go back and read this from the beginning. Maybe I’ll learn something.

Grain takes considerably more time to colonize, but once it is it's very resistant to contamination... the idea of using grain is usually to "seed" substrate.

Shroomery or mycotopia are great troves for perusal.

Organic brown rice flour with some vermiculite and a wee touch of lime has been my go-to.

Spore syringes beat the snot out of the old spore prints.

Absolutely!

Prints usually require sterile technique and agar work which are usually beyond the scope of your average pot grower's equipment budget and training.

Pickling lime has been very helpful for my casing soil recipes. I've considered using it for cold pasteurization.

I will say that the hardest I've ever tripped on psilocybin is colonized rye grain blended into a smoothie.

FUBAR for five hours.

I came down eventually, and as I was watching Wallace and Grommet I asked nobody in particular (which turned out to be my friend who responded) why we were watching something so childish....

He informed me that that was the only thing that I would tolerate... Blade Runner was too intense and Mad Max was just gross.... per my spun self.... I could not recall being conscious for the previous two hours. Apparently I had not just tripped out drooling and staring at the wall.

I had some intense film critique that somehow had yielded unto Wallace and Grommet... and then fell silent in awe for a couple of hours.

Seriously FUBAR.

I had a very narrow number of cassettes and Lp's I could listen to when I was wired out of my gourd on copious quantities of uncut blow. Understand the sensitive balance completely. Too fast. Too slow, Too irritating. Too much. Too...

By the way, I still more or less try to somewhat sterilize the area, even with the syringes.

I wipe down all surfaces with a bleach & H2O solution, spray the area I'm working in, including overhead, with Lysol, rinse an old t-shirt rag and wear it as both bandana on my head and face mask (a damp rag, especially treated with diluted beach solution, is better at taking contaminants out of the exhaling during working over the jars), take a flame to the end of the spore syringe needle, and make sure the tape over the injection holes in the half-pint or pint jar lids are not open to air too much, as well as a healthy layering of vermiculite on top of the sterilized medium in the jar.

I've only had contamination in the jars once or twice, and suspect it was from contaminated syringes. For which I was sent coupons for free replacement syringes.

I noticed that the syringes sold online were only 10cc. The one I bought was 60cc. No idea on how populated it actually is. PES. Maybe $25 with tax.
I was glad to see a very clean warehouse. The proprietor grows for the local restaurants, farmers markets, and it’s an actual established mushroom farm. The assistant that waited on me brought a fresh sterilized needle from storage.
I did buy the kit. I thought it was a bit overpriced. Still I think a good way to start.
They also sell injectable grow bags already mixed. The tubs are more productive.

The kit has
the disinfectant spray.
A bottle of alcohol with an added spray nozzle.
Disposable gloves and sleeves.
Micropore tape.
A small mist bottle.
A 64 quart Sterling container with holes.
3# grain
10# manure substrate
Instructions
If that adds up to $175, I don’t know. For $200 out the door with another $15 for some culinarily samples, I didn’t feel ripped off. They do offer a monthly class for $10 and a biweekly tour for $3. Of course the class was last week.
I have a souse vide device and an old ice chest. I also have a truckload or 2 of horse and llama shit that’s been sitting. Who doesn’t?
I see on YouTube where a guy converted the ice chest to fit the device. I’ve also seen pictures of the device in a five gallon bucket. I guess the idea is pasteurization , not sterilization. Sterilization is for the surroundings.
I read Turkey roasting bags. Immerse them in water to expel the air.
I wish I had bought more spore to play around with. Try the brown rice flower in a seal a meal bag. The uncle Bens trick sounds viable, but I think I want a clear bag.
I may go back. It’s a 30 minute drive. I know. I should complain right?

Store sent me a message today. 30% off to replace the grain and manure. A good gesture on their part for my mistake.
I don’t want to turn this into spam, but they’re in Colorado Springs and easily googled. They don’t ship medicinal out of state.

Former NFL lineman Derek Wolfe says he would combine Adderall and mushrooms before games, go into ‘rage mode’

March 25, 2023

Derek Wolfe is clearly a savage on and off the field.
During his playing days, the former Denver Bronco says he got back on the field two weeks after being temporarily paralyzed. A few months ago, he killed a mountain lion with a bow and arrow.
But now, he’s revealing one of his secrets that led to a Super Bowl championship and a nine-year career.

“Before games, I was taking microdoses. . . . I’m f—ing taking mushrooms and Adderall before I play,” he said on Joe Rogan’s podcast.
The mixture put Wolfe into an “out of control” focus, but he had one more trick up his own sleeve that helped him become a wrecking ball on the gridiron.
“Dude, the f—ing focus is out of control. I would just, like, before games, I would get myself pissed off – so I just would start thinking about my childhood, all the s–t I went through as a kid. And it would f—ing get me into this rage mode. It was like this crazy controlled rage,” he continued.

“So Adderall, mushrooms and childhood rage altogether in a 280-pound savage,” Rogan replied with a laugh.
Wolfe admitted that the concoctions produced some pretty crazy word vomit, as well.
“Just, f—ing, such a meathead. Saying wild, crazy s–t to quarterbacks. I told a guy I was going to f—ing eat his kids. It was crazy. . . .
“That’s what you do, man. It’s a head game. I’m trying to get in his head.”

Wolfe started 116 of his 122 games, racking up 34.0 sacks and 81 quarterback hits, totaling 350 tackles in his career.

I just looked in the fridge and my 2 remaining unused syringes are 10 ml.

One is my classic preferred john Allen strain, but the other is abbreviated as 'BHT' and I can't recall what the fuck that one was?

I think I may have gone a bit exotic on that order and grabbed something Thai but can't recall.

I've had spore syringes prove good after sitting 2 years in a box in the corner of the basement, unrefrigerated.

Properly stored, who knows how long they can remain viable? Probably a good long while more.

This is not mine. It would be a little quick. This is what I can order and pick up downtown. Reasonably priced. You do have to pay tax. It’s a legit business. The roots of legalization.
