I'd like to open up the discussion a bit. For those of you who have access to this cut, AND other elites... what compares or is similar on the medicinal spectrum? Pain relief, sleep aid, etc. That's what I go to this strain for... not recreational for me at all. As a midwest grower this is the only "elite" I've ever had the chance to grow so I want to get opinions on how it stacks up to the other highly touted cuts you guys have access to.

I still have the real cut. Got it mailed from Michigan back in 2011. Its the only strain that survived the madness and incompetence after my Mom died last year. I see it as a special plant just for that reason. I lost so many great strains from neglect but the deathstar survived and even thrived when it probably shouldn't. I just transplanted my last two deathstar mother plants into 7 gallon pots to flower out. I will take cuts right before i switch cycles. The plant takes more after the sensi star father. Grows squat and bushy with long branches and skinnier leaves. Takes a good 10+ weeks to flower out right. I like it more then ecsd if its grown to its potential.

Yep, way better than ECSD Jibman. I also agree with the 70-77 day flower time for a good turnout. Try taking her 80-85 days one time and see what happens:bongsmi:

its a shame that in 5 years hardly anyone still has it. when in less than a year, gg4 is everywhere. that's the only sad thing about this thread..

If the Dstar does ever make it mainstream, look out! Theres gonna be a lot of stupid people walking around. Its probably one of the most underrated "strains" that there is. Bypasses most elite cuts I have ever sampled. At least in potency. I have some herijuana ibl in the works, and Aces malawi so i can have some real contenders to compare it to. Hopefully. The ECSD, IBG, pre98 Bubba are all left in the dust of the deathstar. I still love them all though.
I havent yet sampled the gg4, nobody around me has it.

Maybe its harder to attain then other cuts? I don't know anyone in CA who has it besides myself. Nobody really wants it apparently. I have tried to trade it for other cuts but nobody seems interested. What a shame.

Its because most people have never heard of it. If they only knew what they were missing! Ive had a couple people that grow for personal use turn it down before. The number one complaint is that its too strong.

It was in HT wasn't it?
I'd say lots of peeps know about it.

I saw a few pages back a question about how DS stacks up against other "elites"
I'd say pretty damn good, at least in my room.
Everything is there yield, potency, smell, taste, ease of growth.

Know several seasoned smokers that state that it's just too strong for their liking. Same with the mango when ya get it to behave properly.. Potent stuff.

Oh how I miss the taste of afghani mango! Im gonna swoop her up, and do one for personal. Sometimes its tough to get the plant to behave properly like Farmer said. I hope nobody minds a quick pic drop...These are from an old friend.

Afghani Mango

The last pic looks like it was monster cropped. It can be tough to get that much bud on such a short plant of this variety. It likes to stunt itself, and produce next to nothing.

Back on to the Death Star!

Im going to flower my two deathstars soon. The plants had been kept alive under low lighting. Now they are under a 600 watt and i could add another 600 later. This will be my first grow in almost a year. I had a good amount of stock from previous grows and making oil that have gotten me through to this time. They are in 7 gallon pots and are nice fat bushes. They should do well. I wish i had other strains at this time, But at least i have something instead of nothing.

I am hoping the PPK is the answer to my Mango woes. I think it really needs to be topped once and then prune back everything except the 4 most dominant branches. This (usually) results in 4 nice sized spears.

The Deathstar is too strong for me recreationally, even for watching a movie or something. But medicinally it is the best for the migraines I get. The problem is actually packing a bowl and smoking it when I feel like that.

The Mango I can handle better, doesn't knock me out so much but heavy body load if taken later. What is the lineage of the Mango? Mango Haze x Afghani? Or is it unknown?

I might be wrong on this, so many "breeders" out there now and people just seem to name their gear wtfe they want even if it's a name thats already been used.

Mango- KC Brains
Mango Haze- Mr Nice
