Lazy Growing

I already thought of writing a lazy method.from sowing to harvesting.I think you should do it, publish it, and then fly away from the growshop mob ;)

So many books, videos, websites, all showing folk how to do it, I doubt there's much money left in it now. Then you have the problem of having put your face above the wall, making yourself a target. I'd rather chat here in public, and in safety.

Likewise. Thanks for clearing up the cutting lighting. That does make sense as they all did really well rooting until I put them in dirt on 18 hours light.

Well DP you'll find this fairly ammusing. In the curing thread, I said what I said and got the responses I got. I recently harvested 2 plants, my bruised nuts and my smokey girl. I dried my bruised nuts in my old way, actually took around 4 days to dry. It is now in 2 jars, one curing, one for smoking. My smokey girl, was slow dried. I wanted to just double check what I was saying. Now I have 2 jars of bruised nuts, and one jar of moldy smokey girl. Great hey, another reason fairly quick drying can be better than waiting. This is the 2nd time I've grown smokey girl, first time she was seeded, now she is molded, 3rd time lucky lets hope. And no being put off my normal track this time.

LOL. Sorry to hear that man. But it's still funny. Your 6 years of experience obviously doesn't mean anything. Might as well just cut up the rest of those lush green plants and just say "I don't know what I'm doing.. these aren't super healthy mj plants ready to explode with too many trichs.. what was I thinking."

I have that same problem though. I like to second guess myself for some reason. I try something that doesnt work, then I try something different that does. Then later I try what didn't work before for some reason, and it still didn't work and then I get pissed off and ask myself "Why didn't I listen to me?" I guess it's been a long time so you had to prove it to yourself again. It's obvious your an expert in reading plant needs so try not to forgot what you learned next time. Everyone is learning what I feel like is the easy way when following your thread and it's probably what starters should read before moving on to the crazy stuff. So many times it's the grower that ruins the plants rather than the plants not being able to take care of themselves.. thats ONE i've learned from experience on more than one occasion..

I'm doing it half-half now, kind of :chin:

I hang em to dry with a fan on, and after about 4-5 days put them into cardboard boxes (my vinyl gets sent in them so I have hundreds :D). Basically the quick dry gets rid of most the water, prefenting mold, then the time in the boxes distributes the remaining water evenly, whilst at the same time still evaporating some.

I found this extra step better than the dry => Jar method and will probably stick with it

What I like to do is flush a week before harvest and just use plain water to water with until the harvest. However I dont water for the last 3 days and then I chop and hang in a cardboard box. I just have 1 big air purifier in the room but its not directly next to the box however keeps the air moving and the card board box top is open and flaps are taped up to give it that extra 5-6" to prevent light from getting to them. Generally i'll leave them hang drying in the box for about 4-6 days depending on how quick they dry, then I move on to the jars and start out with opening jars and closing them numerous times per day for the first 4 days or so and then just once or twice a day there after. My smoke is usually pretty smoothe and enjoyable at that point but I usually cant keep myself from taking samples all the way through.

This time its chop, clean, next to radiator overnight, and onto the back of the tv for 3 more days. If its dry then, its going into jars to start the cure.

Hi DP, Hi Alex.

The biggest diff to the the best method for you, is the relative air humidity where you are. In the uk, I like to dry fairly quickly before curing.

Man gmt - sorry to hear about the moldy smokey :badday: It is so strange how local environments can be so different for different things. I have major fungus problems trying to root cuts any which way I can, but drying bud I've had no problems so far with 10-14 day whole plant hang and then into jars with a daily burp for 2 weeks. With the problems I have with the cuts I would think I'd have more problem drying the harvest. Another location and the problems are the opposite? :chin: Life is sure whacky and mysterious!

Glad you have some BN to smoke. Those photos sure look gorgeous!

Hi MGJ, yeah really wierd. Yep I have BN to smoke, and smokey will be binned, for somereason its still hard to throw it away even though I know I have to. At least now I have daughter of smokey to smoke, just wanted to compare. Ah well, at least its my daytime smoke that went on me and not my night time smoke.
And the finger hash from daughter of smokey is out of this world.
So good I actually wanted to post those pics in my part time thread, and today i now see them here.

ok so its time for an update I think.

This is that first cut I took. I didn't follow through on the topping and re topping, I left a few nodes, they were staggered and I couldnt be bothered but anyway here she is before and after a little clean up opp. Lower branches that were stsarting to grow, and wouldnt produce anything worth while get cleaned. Before and after shots.

and from the top,

Now the belated cut I took. She isnt looking pretty now, and i just made a mistake and watered her, which is something I didnt want to do, now she is very wet which can cause probs. Ah well, plenty of those seeds left if she doesn't take.

And now for something else. Over the summer, I think I have cooked a lot of older seeds that I had in storage. I tried to germ a few of them with no luck, so I tried to germ a few more. When they didnt pop either, I threw the lot into a tubb In a tub next to that one, this has popped. Not sure how that happened or what type it is, but I'm keeping it going as I'll be able to tell from how it grows, I'm also going to top this one to perfection if ya want to watch.
I started already, before and after

Suppose you could cut off your green thumb and loan it to me a while? Say 12 weeks? Thanks in advance.

Nice shots by the way. Very good looking pics. Your clone turned into a monster. Does it eat things when your not looking when you leave them laying around?

And the lazy grower becomes the lazy poster.. Haha - kidding. But anyhow - what ever came of the late cut? Is she taking? I just read on another thread that it helps to cut off the calyxes.

Wow I'd love to see how that topped plant is growing, I've never seen anything topped so early.

well if we all had magical fairy dust to sprinkle on them like gmt, ours would do it too - he claims to only use dirt and water and light - all of the above when he gets around to it and whatever 'seams' right

I guess I just don't understand topping, as I've never done it. In that last picture, where is any new growth going to come from? Is it just going to shoot out of the sides of those two single real leaves?

Man... this was my 420th post. I was gonna do something special, but I got stoned and forgot... :pointlaug

Hi DP,
Here's the late cut, not looking very pretty, and I'm not really confident it'll survive, but it's not dead yet.

Hi Bounty, Yep that's exactly where the new growth will come from. Anywhere a leaf joins a stem, there is a growing point at the join.
