Thomas pumps do work , regens just work better. The system is not hard to do, it is just expensive to start up. Krusty's personality to me is what makes it difficult for other people to grasp. But I guess I would be the same if people kept asking me how to drive a Ferrari when they do not have a drivers lic.
Our bottom bucket was something like 22"x 16" and we put 2 16" pieces in there. It is better to use a 3.5/6 gal buckets or for 3lb plants it would be better to have at least a 10-15 gal bottom bucket. a 5/5 gal sys is tring to cram to much shit in a 5 gal bucket. My bottoms are now 18 gal and full of roots. JK
come on couldn't you multiply 5 cfm x 12
I will help out anyone who is willing to help themselves.
Look for Sweetwater blowers, sometimes you can get good deals on ebay.
I would lean towards an 80 so I could pump the crap out of my rez.
yeah I can do that 5x12=60 cfm. All I'm asking is how do I convert inches max duty or horse power into CFM?
Maybe I am blind, but I don't see CFM listed as one of the specs here. Not trying to be spoon fed. I have never dealt with a pump this large and I don't know what to make of the stats they give out.
That is going to depend on what you're using for a diffuser.
After scraping the Thomas pumps, I am currently using a simple Alita diaphram with aquarium air curtains. I'm still not happy and will soon audition another expensive diffuser.
The whole pump/diffuser deal has been by far the most challenging aspect of this system. I've used many different brands of 1/4" soaker hose and other rubber based porus tubing. They all suck for delivering air. Soaker hose requires a high pressure pump, and for what? All it does is draw amps, produce heat, and run loud. I've read posts of people driving thier cars over the hose to open it up.
Even then soaker hose will clog up before the grow is finished.
Same clogging problem with regular airstone bars. I'm sure the DWC guys have the same problem.
Sorry I'm rambling. To answer your question: Any Regen 1/4 HP should be fine. Just make sure that you use a compatible diffuser since those blowers put out VERY little pressure.
I have seen the pourous pvc pipe work well now for 3 cycles with no problems what so ever...$10/' is the only setback, if you will be using your system for years then it is worth it.
BH it is good to see you among the living. If you have a chance try some Newberry. I have seen it grown poorly and still produce a kg. It has 3 phenos and one of them has a chocolate/raspberry flavor and smells like berry kool aid. Someone lost the pheno but I still have 24 seeds RM gave me. I hope to have it for the summer with any luck. Stay safe! Also in todays mail I received a court order to pick up my herb. Sometimes life is just.
Another good thing about regens is it can grow with your system by putting them in series JK
1.does anyone know what % of loss a dayton shaded pole blower will experience with a 40' run? i.e. if it's 400 cfm to begin with, what would it be after running 40 feet through 4" duct? obviously turns and whatnot will affect this, i'm just looking for a general idea.
2. due to cost constraints, choices for odor control are limited. would it be better to A. use a post blower O3 generator that runs while exhausting (25 feet or so of duct to mix O3 and stink) combined with a vaportek outside the green room.
B. use a carbon scrubber with inline blower operating in green room constantly, seperate from exhaust system/fan
does anyone have any experience with a c.a.p. ozn-1? it says 1000 mg/hr. says it treats up to 5500 cubic feet.
what size carbon scrubber would you reccomend for a 12x12 4 plant kbs system? how many pounds of carbon?
50 odd lbs should be good...has to do with the effectiveness which deals with charcoal size and surface area...hard to 'rule of thumb'....
dayton 400/465 c.f.m...pieces of shit unless hooked up correctly--need a good intake and sealed room....id say "feel" the exit cfms and test with smoke...a good blast is perfect...but hey check you temp thermo...what it says is what counts...not me...78* day 70* nites without co2...
ozone...well sooo many variables,,,40ft hose should allow a good amount of contact of 03...once again..fuck what i think...its a matter of fact..with that said...1mg/hr..fuck have no clue...but 400 cfm/@~psi through a dayton....thats low in actual situations...
good to see bluehaze, jalisco and Nye muthafuckin 'trous around these parts...
A 465 cfm blower in a room that size is useless.Call around to some heat/ac shops and ask for some used blowers out of furnaces. I bought 4 for fourty bucks.1600cfm ea.
Is your room going to be sealed?
I have helped build a few rooms, during your first cycle you can add a few temp plant sites due to not dialing in your room and strain. And with luck if you do grow well just remove them from the system.
Tainted/Hatori for the life of me I can not remember what I wanted to ask you but I tried to track you down. Yeah SYK is a bi-polar fag. He once wanted to remove me for going to other sites. JK
And by fag I do not mean gay, just someone who is wasting our air.
well, if a room is 12x12x8, thats 1152 cubic feet. using co2 and a/c, i'm venting pretty much only for odor control. wouldn't running a 400 cfm blower 10 mins out of the hour be good enough? it's definitely indadequate for any kind of heat/humidity control but i have no intention of using it for either of those purposes. i also know by venting the room slowly it should be much easier to keep the temps/humidity fairly steady without any sharp increases or decreases to stress the ladies. if i could afford an aquafogger and a 24000 btu a/c then i could go with a bigger exhaust fan without a doubt. i will definitely check out used exhaust fans. i know i'm committing a cardinal sin by not having the best equipment possible, and i have no doubt it'll hurt me seriously in the first run yield but you gotta walk before you run right? lol. i'll be perfectly happy to just not kill the trees the first run regardless of how they do or don't yield. a ductless split a/c and aquafogger are definitely on my christmas list though (gee i sure hope santa isn't a narc).
as far as adding plants the first cycle, thats an excellent idea. my first run through will be with a wholly inadequate strain for tree growing (Ice) but its the only thing i have clones available for, and as such i also have some dirt mothers i'll be throwing in there until 1. i kill off the trees, 2. they finish, 3. the high humidity causes bugs to arrive. my second run i'm hoping to use the hash plant from sensi seeds, unless anyone has better advice on a strain thats easy to acquire through a company that will send to the US. i liked the look of those reeferman genetics posted on like page 5 or 6, but after checking the website noticed none of those are available.
the room will not be 100% sealed. should be close though. call it 99.5% sealed lol. for odor control thats why i was thinking i should score one of those vaportek's to put outside the room. i know sealing is the way to go but due to the room construction, it's damn near impossiblem (mainly no room for an airlock style door). what would your advice for odor control be for sealed vs non sealed?
thanks also for the excellent idea of contacting a plastics fabricator for a custom res. i have a very strictly defined space in mind for the res, and being able to get one custom made to my specifications will damn near allow me to double the size of the res!
i will be using CO2, and i'm hoping to keep daytime temps around 85 and nighttime around 75.
thanx again for all the excellent info guys/girls. the difference between people worth knowing and those that aren't, is one group will help someone learn, the 0ther will give false/misleading info to hinder that process.
peace
PS fag has more than just the sexual preference connotation. it can also mean a cig butt (used up) or a piece of rotten driftwood (worthless). i should think either of those would apply to what you were trying to confer! thanx again!!!
There is alot of RM 38 hashplant out there,he is due for more in 2 months get on his lay away plan. We did better with his timewarp, more wieght better high just a little uglier.
