I don't have a car that I would want to track. While I know how do drift, and I am comfortable driving fast, and understand turning. I have never competed at an event. Besides, tracking a car is very hard on it. I am just getting to where I can afford the payments on these things, last thing I want to do is put it in a wall.

I had a SC300 that was converted into a 2jz-GTE Supra. It had about 600 at the wheel. If I still had it, I would track it.

Changed the auto out and mated a 6 speed. So I know all about tuning, and it's a pain in the ass. I would rather pay someone who knows more than me.

Sucker was tail happy as all hell. However, I had to get rid of it to get my V. Now I am thinking of trading the V in on a GT-R and getting some sort of DD. E class of some sort.

I am going to tune my GT-R, but it is going to be done by a pro shop, not me and my buddies.

why wouldn't you want to track the V? Just cover any body panels with blue painter's tape your worried about getting pitted from track debris.

was your 2jz single or twin turbo?

Cause I am about to get rid of the V.

I will take the GT-R, when I get a couple thousand miles on it.

Single.

yep, i don't know what i'm talking about... I guess if you don't spend $1,000,000 USD on a car you just aren't capable of the things those "Gods of the road" are...

Im sorry but that lambo can't go anywhere, anyday and beat everything. There are other cars in the world capable of such feets and it's too bad that they don't get noticed. But if you can't see past the prancing pony then that's your thing.

Integras beat ferraris in road racing, touring camaros like Big Red have repeatedly demolished those exotic "racers" in 30 mile road courses. People with balls and guts and bloody knuckles have been showing the public that it's not about high dollar exotics for 50 years.

I love that attitude though, it's cracking me up. It's like, you built that fast car? so what? i bought mine! lol...

Here's a thought....do you really think that a professional cannot make that wagon pull a G on a slalom? I bet they can do it for far less than $500,000. And they'd laugh alllll the way to the winners circle diving by allll that race bred history.

EDIT: Kind of off topic, but i always thought this was funny. The downturn of this business happened when movies like Fast and Furious came out. Overnight, Drifting was a Japanese sport! ha ha ha ha.... So what? Americans have been dealing with way too much power and RWD. If a camaro is drifting around a corner he's a dumb mid western hick... Throw a japanese guy in a supra and it's suddenly a SPORT!!

I hate the F&F movies.

I hate the tuner scene.

Companies that tune Lambo and Ferrari are not part of that scene.

I am all for a garage build, but give credit where credit is due.

And don't talk to me about prancing ponies, I drive a Corvette powered Caddy, and it will lay down the same quarter as a F430.

I will say this:

There is no car available, that can match a GT-Rs capabilities, for 80k.

Another reason why the GT-R kicks ass. It's just a Nissan. Most people will think it is a hopped up 350. This is a non-exotic supercar (like the ZO6 and ZR1), and I love that fact.

If I were a douchebag, I would go buy a M3 (I'm sorry Bimmer fans the new M3 is a douchemobile), 911, F355, 456 GTA, 360 Modena.

Actually the only car I would rather buy, would be a CLK 63 BS. Which are not nearly as fast.

Well i must say i never had any disrespect for you, Stainless. And now that you mention you drive a V i have to say i salute you!

Although, saying that there is no car available that can compete with the GTR for 80,000 isn't true. Production car for the value, you are correct. To say that no man can create a vehicle capable of those feets with a $80,000 budget is a lie. As long as we agree on that fact, then we are savvy!

BTW, i sincerely hope you don't take my posts offensively. I feel rather strongly about the fact that individuals can create cars capable of great things. What it boils down to is me, personally, i think the accomplishment of a regular man is much much higher than that of a multi-million dollar automaker.

I remember reading early on that Nissan did all the tuning to the car that is possible. Is this true? Other than a full engine re-build i'm not sure there is much you can do to it to make it better.

EDIT* Before, Bobby, you asked me why all of the worlds fastest cars are AWD and to think about it. Well, fast how? a top fuel car can go 300mph+ and it's RWD. So, i suppose you mean all of the worlds fastest PRODUCTION vehicles are AWD. To which i say yes, that is true. Not the worlds fastest cars, however.

I'm an old ASE certified knuckle-buster who specialized in engine rebuilds....

Like I said, I put my wrenches away a looooong time ago.

I can still appreciate the passion for it in others though.

You too, iGro4Me, i don't mean any offense to anyone. Im used to dealin with the knuckleheads who throw on a catback exhaust for another +50 hp and it just gnaws at my brain! lol

I'm a few credits shy of my ASE. However i never finshed it cuz i didn't wanna get stuck in 9-5 bustin knuckles. I like to do it as a hobby. Who knows, if i continued with it i probably would be sick of these things by now.

Thank you for the thumbs up, both you guys are top notch in my book!

Added - From my experience, an AWD transaxle can become a burden on a vehicle due to the mass amount of weight it adds. Will this car perform like this is you shaved that weight? Will that cause too much of a weight distribution issue??

Nice pics Skarecrow!

Mr. Tony - i do believe he meant the whole culture of the tuner scene. The baggy pants, loud exhaust strapped up to a stock engine. Neons, big sound systems and big body kits.
I'm sure he has the utmost respect for people who actually do the work to their cars. Tuner is a great word for, like we said, the Fast and the Furious type crowd. I hope that helps, but i won't say that's what he meant for sure! just my .02!

Very nice, cellardwellar!

I'm usually not one for Mustangs. The new ones are acceptable in my book. But this one is very nice. I can respect any car that looks as clean with such awesome craftsmanship. I like what they did with the back to make it a fastback. Sweet!

God that sucker is badass CellarD!

Mr. Tony: The scene depicted in the F and F films is what I hate. It's silly.

SnF: No offense at all my man, just talking cars. I do respect car builds from professionals, and amateurs alike. If it is done properly, and not some huge mess. That was my main point. Most "tuned" cars I see are worse off then when they started.

The GT-R is no where near it's potential SSP has a 850 awhp GT-R entering Gumball, and Switzer sells a 707 awhp kit for 17K. Both cars can pump out 10 second quarters.

Also, there are rumors of a RWD, V8 GT-R. That should shave a couple hundred pounds off of it's heavy 3800 lb curb weight. That would probably be more your cup of tea.

Glad to have another gear head in here. A car thread is a needed/welcomed addition to most of that crap in the Toker's Den...LOL!

Yeah, I mainly mean production cars. As far as AWD goes. Just my thing, as far as a consumer. I do love a purist car though. RWD, V8, 6 speed...

I am looking at old SC400s for a new project car. I want to Twin Turbo the V8 and run a 6 speed to it! Should be fun. Having a shop do all the work though. That way there is someone to be mad at if it does not work. LOL.
