I don't see anything yet. Even if male parts show up, They can take a week before they open to release pollen. So don't stress too much. They will turn down as well, female parts will stay upward.
I usually wait till I'm sure they are male or see pistils ( white hairs) to confirm female. Sometimes at first, it can be hard to tell. Patience.

Peace GG

Much better pics. Easy to see first is female and the second is male. Forgot to mention before that the male parts will develop a bit of a stalk. Which you can see in the second pic. Let the questions fly, plenty of smart people on here to help.
I'm from Alberta as well Yeee hawww

Peace

So, what do I do now? 5 confirmed females and 2 males. They are now in a separate tent. Do I have to worry about pollen flying everywhere including into fans of the lights?

Hey! It's Rioht from Reddit, thought I would follow along here too :).

That depends on the following:

Are you exhausting air out of the male tent?
Are the tents in seperate rooms?
Do you want to selectively pollenate entire female plants, branches of specific plants or pollenate all female plants?.

Hey you.....

I want to pollinate ALL females. Tent is going into basement for sure. I could take air out with inline if required.

I was taking clones and took a clipping and just shoved it in soil with no rooting powder or dome and tada, it rooted all on its own and is doing well.

Other pic is just Panama porn. Lol

Well that makes it all much easier. No need to worry about pollen control as much (I.e., would need filters on air intakes / exhausts).

Basically you just wait ~2 weeks for the male flowers to start opening up and pick the one that has the best characteristics you are looking for (i.e. lots of tightly packed nodes, good growth, strong stems, no signs of stress, no signs of disease).

The just pop that male into the female tent and ensure you have a fan to circulate the pollen.

Fans etc should be fine, just make sure to clean then out later. Also once your done the grow, do a good clean to make sure you've deactivated all of the pollen (moisture does the trick); however most of the pollen will be rendered inactive pretty quickly on its own. Worth it for peace of mind though.

Oh man!

Oh man!

Hey I maybe sorta kinda made this account just to voice my support for this grow! If I can help in any way I will. I am presently durban landrace hunting with a dr grinspoon on the side, and have crushed Ace’s Malawi in the past. Tanuki at your service, Ma’am :tiphat::tiphat::tiphat::tiphat:

Thanks for following along on this epic 'cluster-fire-truck' hahaha

I honestly have no idea what you mean by dr grinspoon or ace's malawi. I'm a newbie grower here.

I'm seriously considering only using ONE male and culling the rest. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

So, I do have what I think is a valid question.....

Normally, if something looks like a skunk and smells like a skunk, you assume it's a skunk right?

I have been looking a bit into 'testing' this line at a lab. Is there a way to 'confirm' that is indeed a panama red? Is there some database somewhere to confirm?

How do you guys confirm when someone gives you seeds and says that it's 'rocket fuel' how do you know that it is?

And another valid question (I think)

So, my breeding goes well and I get 5-600 seeds and then what do I do to further this line?

Are there sativa dudes that would take these seeds that are known in this field and keep it going?

How does that work?

Stardate log day 7 after flipping to 12/12....

'When you flip to 12/12, you will see substantial growth' is a freaking understatement. This strain is loving life right now and so am I. They are all still alive, no bugs, started feeding them more budjuice and banana peel tea.

I noticed when I went to open the tent today I could smell them more than I could yesterday. They emit a strong citrus/lemon cleaner stench and top leaves are not sticky but something is coming. hahaha The new leaves are different than the first leaves that came out. They are a gorgeous lime color till they start to turn the olive color. This is such a strong strain. I broke a stalk and used duct tape and it was all mcgyvered up and fine. hahaha You would need gasoline to kill these.

The clones I took off the big female before I put her into flower are doing amazing. Day 6 for them and I took them out of the dome today for a few hours to test them. They were fine under the lights so coming out of the domes this weekend and going straight into 5 gallon pots. I think I'll put these ones into flower? Thoughts?

Finally, Thank you guys ALL again for all your help. This is such an exciting thing for me. Seeds for everyone!!!! :huggg:

No. A corporation called Phylos has played at it but their data is a mess. I wouldn't draw any definitive conclusions from it or pay to have them test yours. The best way is to smoke it with seasoned growers. With experience smoking modern stuff, Columbian strains, and Panama Red. Even then it's very subjective but that's all part of the fun. If it smells like a skunk it's a skunk but what is a skunk? Is a Sunda Stink Badger a skunk? It is, sort of, but it's subjective and up to the eggheads with the degrees to determine. Having a rare private strain is awesome and all but it comes down to what you enjoy. If it makes you and your people feel great who's to say it's 'bad'? And if it gives you a headache, if some stoned nerd says it's one of a kind they can have it..

Truer words have never been spoken. I don't remember the real buzz for PR in uni as it was 20 years ago but I suspect it wasn't calm enough for me to go and watch my son play football. hahaha
Any seasoned growers in Canada? Kinda tough to send it over the border I suppose. I suppose I could keep it all to myself and try chasing genetics like my german friend and get some breedings going almost like making wine for when friends come over. lol
