So, after the PR babies show sex, I can grab clones then as well?

You want to keep a clone of each under 18/6, so when you are finished with the first plants you still have a copy to run again.

A back cross, means instead of using the babies to cross with other babies, a sibling cross... a bx would be say a male from the babies cross back on to original mum.

You should take clones at 18/6. When you´ve switched to 12/12, clones start flowering and then root growth stops. Besides often it doesn´t work fine to reveg them.

You can take clones from plants that are in flower. Lately I have started cloning plants before they have shown sex directly in the flowering tent to save time and space, determining sex and cloning at the same time.

The more sativa the more likely they will root while in flower IN MY EXPERIENCE.

Good luck.

Sorry. Forgot to attach image. I'm really starting to love the stalks getting pinky striped. Is that the correct term? lol (my camera work is getting better too, right?)

Anything to worry about with stems/stalks getting purple candy striping on them? Only group that is getting this. All seem super healthy. I was reading this is a strain trait and not a nute deficiency?

Candy striping is common in some landraces. I grew Panama Red from Coastal seeds/Equilibrium genetics. The 3 females I harvested all showed candystriping with purple, marroon red and light green along the stem. I've also seen the purplish stems and especially petioles in Swazi plants. Neither strain required much nutrients but neither were nutrient deficient. Just smoked the Panama Red. Can't quite figure what the CBD effects are supposed to be. Just a pleasant, clean and up high. Doesn't make me quite as wired as other sativa's I've had or grown.

IME lighting can influence whether or not plants exhibit "pinky".

My freakish "Blurple" (more pinky really) LEDs seem to encourage auxiliary pigments, while the "white" do not.

Temperatures most definitely can affect color too.

Given it's a "red" strain, I'd wager it's normal for the X.

These guys aren’t under blurple anymore. I have a 1500w sunshine cob for them now. Day 2 of 12/12.

Very very interested to see how this goes. Keep in mind you can always reveg a plant instead of taking 6+ clones of each plant. It is slightly more risky but can help to keep numbers down. Would be a fun experiment for you also so you can learn the process.

So, I can take clones off of females in flowering stage? I'm hoping to see sex soon and would love to take clones off females for a flower run. hahaha I would love to have 6-8 more female clones.

So, today is the day. The Christmas tree is going up and so is the new grow tent. lol I'm going to put the big tent in the basement instead of my office. I've never installed a light mover so we shall see. I feel a MacGyver situation coming on.

Some folks will for instance, grow 12 seeds, get 6 females, and take 6 clones of each female prior to flipping to flower period. I used to do this myself, but after awhile you end up getting tired growing 30-100 clones you kill.

So now I grow my seeds out, find the 6 females, let them all flower out and express their traits, once I see a few plants leaning to where I want, I then take 3-6 clones off it, reveg the plant and use the new reveg plant as a mother.

This just lets you keep the plant count lower, but there is a slight risk you can't reveg the plant and lose the genetics.

Just food for thought.

IME, the deeper into flower the harder to clone, but cloning them as you are sexing them is easy peasy... at least once you've developed a protocol for cloning that works well for you.

You say that now but when you have 500 plants running of things you are unsure of and 200 going that you know you want then 50+ mothers you need to keep alive <_< Things get complicated fast.
