How do you feel about the Pakistanis that died at the wedding as a result of a drone attack ordered by the USA? Fuck the USA?

Not judging, just trying to capture a picture of where you're coming from. If you agree that the USA has bloody hands by murdering innocent people then we are agreed. Otherwise, I may take issue with your hypocrisy.

i feel its relevance in this discussion is limited to the fallacy of moral equivalence. i mean pol pot killed all those people it must be ok for charlie manson he only killed a few.

the entire idea of comparative evil is silly.

hugo was a statist murdering dictator.

in a separate discussion we can talk about the actions of other sovereign nations and their leaders.

He did great things for his country and he pissed off the americans too!

The world has lost a great leader. Hopefully someone can step up and continue the revolution he started.

RIP Hugo

Somebody died?

Let me guess there's a bunch of people happy about it and hoping they burn in hell... and then there are people trying to get people to stop hating and thusly being hated for it, right....????

Who's winning?

We all lose.

This kind of thread makes me sadder than seeing puppies drowned by children.

I know what you are saying, and indeed this is purely a political thread that has no basis in a marijuana forum.

But a major world leader died. He was a Marxist and a dictator, and it is going to stir up emotions for those involved. I am from South America and it is as relevant to me as North American politics are to many here.

And the sadist part of all is the fact that when a dictator dies they set up the office for their successor. Nothing should change politically there. Hugo had made billions of dollars in promises to third world nations in Central America, a place I have many friends. They are wondering what is going to happen now that Hugo is dead. He was going to help develop infrastructure and create jobs. All these people are wondering what is next.

and as I recall Gadhafi was stomped to death by his own countrymen w/a little help from several other entities. it was a long time in coming.

Best taxidermists will not be able to help this guy.

as I understand it they're gonna taxidermy Chavez, once the mount is finished he'll be on permanent display.

Gadhafi was nothing more than a meat bag when they got done beating him, the YouTube video was too graphic for me to post.

Why didn't we do that to Nixon???

yesterday I spent a lot of time talking to relatives and friends in Venezuela (I left about 2 years and a half ago).

the overall consensus is that mostly everyone have been very respectful of Chavez's death, even hardcore people from the opposition.

most people partying about his death (imo bad taste) have been in Florida, U.S. Since most ex-politicians before Chavez fled there to escape political persecution by Chavez.

in Venezuela, they also extended the initial 7 days of observance to 14 days. Not sure whether there will be classes in the last 7 days of those 14 or not...

As it is, you have half the country mourning Chavez, since they depended on his hand-outs (read: money in exchange of subscription to his political party and votes). And the other half wondering what is next now, even though undoubtedly relieved that Chavez is no longer in power.

imo, what will happen next is that the current vice-president and successor of Chavez elected by hand by Chavez himself will win the election to be held in around 30 days give or take (Nicolas Maduro), but since he is no Chavez, lacks the charisma and popular support, this will lead that half of the country that loved Chavez let down. Only after this happens and Maduro's full term expires (in about 6 years), will any change towards a more balanced government can happen.

surely history will judge Chavez for leaving the country with extremely worst poverty and debt than the country that was entrusted to him some 14 years ago. It'll be very hard for Maduro to keep using oil-money to keep buying support when most of the oil has been promised as a payment method to all the governments with whom Chavez did business with: Russia, China, Iran and U.S mainly. They will all want what's theirs, and if Maduro does not comply, it'll be bye-bye Maduro very soon.

Actually my friends in Nicaragua are quite wealthy by local standards, upper middle class in America. They own beach property and buy art. The people they see in their day to day lives don't know where their next meal is coming from. There are soup kitchens set up to feed children and they have to draw the line at 12 years old. There is not enough food for those children over 12. If my friends are concerned it is by the vacuum of money that is missing and what it will do to the starving peasants. Crime will certainly rise, property will drop in value and the current state of chaos will become worse. The likelihood of government corruption will increase and victimization from organized crime in drug producing countries. Through despair and availability hard drug addiction will rise.

That is just a few possibilities of the turn of events to follow.

that's exactly what happened in Venezuela after Chavez.

before Chavez, you could find all kinds of Colombian imported Cannabis, you could find really good quality pressed bud, from punto rojo, corinto to santa marta gold.

when I left Venezuela about 2 years and a half ago, it was truly difficult to find any herb at all. good brick simply disappear, and if you were lucky, you either found overpriced shit brick or super expensive cripi. it's hard to find herb at all.

The cripi btw, is more expensive than cocaine and heroin, and cocaine and heroin and readily available and really easy to find.

go figure.
