How would you set up the shelves if you were to be growing sativas that tend to stretch, for example, SSH? Assuming that they were also triggered into 12/12 as soon as being rooted(we aren't growing trees here folks....no veg time for sats with this method )

Would you still do the 5 shelves?3 Shelves?2? Etc, etc...

Reduce the number of shelves definitely to get more room.

I haven't grown more than one or two Sativas at one time in my rooms and they tend to vary way more in height strain to strain compared to indicas so I can't give you reliable info. Trial and error I guess...

Beds as in trays?. That wouldn't be any good because you need to turn the plants every now and then. The best form of lazy growing is Ebb and Flow on Tables imho.

Any way you look at it this sytem is not for lazy people. You put some extra work in and it is very rewarding.

Amazing thread! Just finished reading it and I have to say it really makes me want to go vertical. Thank you for posting and keep producing that BC pride, I promise I'll keep smoking it.

I'd offer up some K+ but it seems I can't do that anymore, post count is too low...

A rez, a pump, 1/2" poly lines along each tier, a feeder line to each plant. Use the channels I pictured earlier if you are concerned about runoff.

#1 problem with soil and automated watering in this system is some plants use up the water slower than others and you get poor soil conditions and root rot from the constant wet.

It's best naturally to give exactly what the individual plants use.

Oh I hear ya Buddy :)
I always hand water even a flat garden until at least the end of veg when all the plants are well established and at least 90% 'equal'...only then do I use the water lines.
I hadn't mentioned it before...but a friend of mine actually has a stadium very similar to yours NF. About 8-9ft long, 3K, channels like I've shown, water lines like I mentioned...but each tier has a shut-off valve and this allows him to make a watering decision on that row at least, so not perfect, but not bad. His yields are only that of an average flat garden tho cuz his choice of feeds and when to do what with them aren't the greatest. (and he doesn't follow my instructions well) He doesn't rotate the plants either...but I've only ever seen them as far in as 3wks into bloom (he's 4hrs from me)
Anyways.....

Hey, thats a good idea. A wet plant here and there can skip a watering.

Ive got a room that is ten feet long by six and half feet wide. How many bulbs should i use.And what about that chubie guy.
Use the short bus, not the long.
A-Team lunch buckets are always a good choice...as are hockey helmets.

Hey NF, What a great thread you have going here. I stumbled on to it yesterday and just read all 23 pages! Very inspiring grow techniques you use. I will definately try this style when I get my own house. You have got great skills there NF.

Hey Nf bit of a change in topic but you were talking of the breed you grow(hash plant) I just picked up 5 beans of feminized skunk 69 its supposed to be a cross between hash plant and northern lights also its a short plant which should make it perfect for stog growing.

You all will have to excuse me. I've been having major trouble accessing and using Icmag these past few days. Gateway Timeouts galore. This site only.

Slater,

My light schedule was not messed up at all. I just had to keep decreasing the number of bulbs until I could only keep up with the schedule with incandescent lights. I had hermies pop up on this run again immediately after feed Liquid Karma so for the moment I'm not trusting that product deep into flower. I will continue to use it in other applications though.

Canna,

wish I could see your pics but the issues I'm having only are showing my little red x's.

I managed to upload some more pics but now I can't access them. I'm getting very frustrated. Wish I knew what was wrong. I've run all the usual test, cleared cookies etc....
